Just got back from the ISU game, was a blast. A little too close for my liking, but was nice to see us pull it out without a strong game from anyone really. Plus, Anthony Slack had the number 1 play on Sportscenters top ten tonight!

QUOTE(SoxWS05 @ Mar 5, 2008 -> 12:25 PM) The way this season has been going, I can see SIU taking it home. Drake will not win, ISU will not beat SIU three times in one year. C'mon dawgs, make it 7 straight! We got SIU's number this year, hopefully

QUOTE(kyyle23 @ Mar 3, 2008 -> 05:46 PM) SIU is going to have to do some serious damage in the Arch madness, and most likely win the thing to get into the tourney. Their jekyll and hyde nature is not good for selection time I was thinking that if Creighton/Bradley were to beat ISU in the Finals, then I could easily see 3 teams. If ISU were to make it to the Arch Madness finals, I don't see any way they could leave them out. I don't think SIU really has any chance outside of winning the whole thing. Any thoughts on MVC Player of the year? Someone from Drake? I think it will be Josh Young or Emmenecker. Although I would love to see it go to Eldridge. -

Lunardi finally has ISU solidly IN this week, not on the last four in, SIU is also still on the next four out list. Maybe 3 bids for the Valley? -

QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Mar 2, 2008 -> 11:01 PM) Illinois State is in btw........4-4 vs. top 50 (7-5 vs. top 100), 34th in RPI, 7-7 in road/neutral, 8-3 OOC, 7-3 in last 10, 21-8 overall.....they are for sure in right now. Only way they could be out is a 1st game loss in St. Louis. That's how I feel but I hear alot of talk about how their is no way the MVC is going to get three bids this season. I feel comfortable that if drake wins the tourney, ISU is in regardless of what they do in the tourney. I have a feeling that some members of the committee will not want three bids and will look at it that way instead of just taking the best teams. I also just thought I'd rub it in for the salukis I've been talking with on here. Osiris is a beast. P.S. anyone going for any of the valley tourney? -

QUOTE(The Bones @ Mar 1, 2008 -> 09:56 PM) I highly doubt that. I think we need to at least make the championship game and maybe need to win it all. Unfortunately, after tonight I think SIU needs to win the tournament to get in. I really think we are in now. If not I think the selection committee will have made a mistake. ISU has had a great season, I really can't believe we won tonight. And, bones, i can't believe im not the only isu fan on this board. -

QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Mar 1, 2008 -> 05:21 PM) Well obviously we got to handle our business before anything else but it certainly doesn't hurt to have some of these bubble teams lose. Good luck. Go Redbirds. -
QUOTE(santo=dorf @ Mar 1, 2008 -> 04:19 PM) so who has an unofficial story? This is my fourth year of college, go to ISU, went to unofficial to see the girlfriend since she moved to champaign. Probably the dumbest thing I've ever seen. I'm just sayin. The bars all had a cover charge, which is stupid for a college bar in the first place. Nothing crazy going on, but maybe I just don't get it?

QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Feb 28, 2008 -> 04:57 PM) The arena is going to be f'n insane. Saturday night game, senior night and all the sudden it's a HUGE game. That place is going to be scary. Can't wait. I can not wait for this either, I think you guys are gonna be in for all you can handle. I'm gonna be in champaign while watching this game, there might be some Illini fans around so I can show them what a meaningful game in Illinois looks like. -

Ha, I'm just trying to rile up you SIU fans. I'll be the first to tell you that if ISU did sneak a win down in Carbondale, I would be shocked. I do think that the semi's in Arch Madness could be a hell of a game with both teams coming in hot and a neutral court. Either way saturday night should be fun. -

The Salukis are gonna bring the noise, the Arena is gonna be rockin If the game starts anything like the one in normal, the arena won't be rocking for long. I believe the score was 25-3 at one point. -

ISU beat Creighton 68-54 to gain at least a share of 2nd in the MVC. Anthony Slack with 15 points and 20 boards. Now comes the battle for the 2 seed in the tourney in Carbondale. Bring on the Salukis. -
QUOTE(The Beast @ Feb 25, 2008 -> 11:42 PM) Do people even remember what happened the night before if they are wasted? Your stories of your roommate reminds me of some of the things I saw as a freshman. I think you might accept drinking a little more when it is not about who can get the drunkest.

If I was drunk enough to type that bad, I wouldn't make it to a toilet. Probably would have a bucket next to my bed. I tend to make some typos but i always catch them when I am drunk.

QUOTE(Sonik22 @ Feb 25, 2008 -> 02:59 PM) I totally agree with Row on the fact that this team needs to come out and beat Bradley tomorrow night. Hopefully this team has finally grown up and can win the last road game of the season. Then i think we will handle ISU easily in Carbondale. If we do win every game coming up but then lose in the Valley final that leaves us at 20-13. But the key is the way we finished the season. That is the area that the selection committee looks at the hardest when choosing at-large teams. I still feel we need to win the MVC tourney to get in though. Overall these guys are having fun again and you could tell with the Nevada game. Everybody is stepping up and knows their role on the team. Specifically Tyrone Green. This guy has been SIU's player of the year in my opinion. He's gone from offensive liability to one of the main guys i trust to get the ball to the hoop and get points, and his defense speaks for itself. Can't wait to watch the game tomorrow night, get this road win and finish the season strong! I do think SIU will handle ISU in Carbondale. Even if I would rather it be the other way around, but I also think that if we beat Creighton and SIU wins their last two conference games and ISU (22-9) vs. SIU (20-12) part 3 happens in the Semi's of Arch Madness, and the winner of that game loses to Drake in the final(Even though I think both teams would beat Drake in the final), then I think that team will get an at-large. If that happens and neither of them gets in, then I would be disappointed in the selection committee. The Valley deserves at least two teams even if one is Southern. -

QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Feb 24, 2008 -> 07:35 PM) Illinois State takes down Wright State and improves the Valley to 8-2 in the bracketbusters this year. Not bad. And now the real fun starts for this league. The teams fighting for 2-3-4-5 in the conference standings all play 2 other of those teams this week to conclude the season. Looking forward to it. As am I. It looks like the ISU vs. SIU game on March 1 could be the valley game of the year. Plus, I think those two teams will be the teams to beat in the Conference Tourney. I believe that both teams are better than Drake but the Valley refs do not favor the style of basketball that they play, by calling almost any contact a foul. Where as say Drake gets all the calls because they are not as athletic or physical and rely on the 3 too much. I don't like ISU's chance against the Salukis in Carbondale. But, Go Birds. -
Shaq looked real good tonight. I think just being out of miami has helped him get about 3 years younger.

QUOTE(WilliamTell @ Feb 20, 2008 -> 03:23 PM) I'm still going with Drake as the favorites. I really think all three schools from Illinois will be the teams to beat in the tournament. I think the potential ISU/SIU game in the semis, could be the best game in the tourney. I really think SIU/ISU will win the MVC tourney. -
