  1. it happens with other players too..but in the past this type of play has become a habit with jimenez...so when it pops up every now and then people will jump all over it... there is alot of truth to saying "perception is reality"..and right now the perception of jimenez coming into this season was he has a lot talent but has always been a little lazy and has had problems getting along with teammates..so when he dogs a play and gets burned people will jump on him...if tonight lets say he gets in a shouting match in the dugout with another player about whatever im sure he will be the one taking the blame he is responsible for this perception by his previous actions..its up to him to change that "perception"..he wont accomplish that by letting someone beat out an infield hit when he should have thrown the guy out by 15 feet..or when he fails to go get a ground ball right after marte gave up the tieing run in that 8th inning of a game against the team in first place in our division... if find it ironic that it was bj surthoff who beat out the throw..suroff isa about a slow as they come..but he has always been known as a guy that goes 1005 all the time..never dogs it...hopefully jimenez learned something last night..if a 15 year veteran can bust his ass down the line and do it on every play then its alright for d'angelo to do it too his defenders are saying the guy is hitting 350 , leave him alone..but if next month he is htting 250 and does the same thing do we leave him alone then???...is a hot bat an excuse for being lazy???
  2. if koch had converted all his save opportunities prior to this point and the only reason his first blown save came because of an error id be saying the same thing about koch that i am about foulke now ...now if koch goes out tommorrow and pitches in the 9th and gives up three hits and gets a blown save because of an error id still say he sux because he has been getting shelled all year and the three hits he gave up would be par for the course..see the difference??? foulke 10.1 IP , 8H , 3ER , 3 BB , 12 K , 4of 5 in saves botch 10 IP , 13H , 9ER , 5BB , 11K , 3 of 5 in saves you said "foulke giving the A's a chance is koch sucking" ..thats true...because koch routinely pitches the way foulke does at his worst
  3. the only time ive ever seen maggs look like he has "dogged it" is when he was having trouble with his back...which flairs up now and then and then the decision becomes is an 80% magglio better than his replacement??...with daubach and rios now that will be answered with maggs sitting when he is hurt.. when maggs is 100% he is making sliding catches , great relays and stealing bases..thats not dogging it... maggs is one of the hardest workers on this team..this off season he spent 6 weeks working out with AROD in miami prior to ST...if our whole doggedit like maggs we would be a perennial playoff team
  4. foulke's blown save last night was due primarily to a miguel tejada error..which he made up for with a homer in the enxt inning...foulke had 3 k's in the 9th..also gave up 3 hits but limited the damage despite the error and gave his team a chance..if thats the worst he pitches for the A's im sure they will be extremely happy here is the story line from mlb.. Miguel Tejada's error kept the Tigers' rally alive with two outs in the ninth, but his solo home run in the 11th inning thwarted it.
  5. its too early to really get a feel for this team..mainly because the competiton has been week...we havent played good baseball so whats the deal with this team...are we gonna get pounded on by the big boys or is this a team that plays down to its competition and turns it on when we play better teams ??....we cant answer that for about 3 weeks what id like to see at a minimum is 2 of 3 from balt , 2 of 3 from minny and 6 and 6 on the west coast trip....if we have what it takes to compete this year then going 10-8 in our next 18 games shouldnt be a problem...if this happens then ill start thinking i might be a little busy this october with coaching football and playoff baseball
  6. if he is still pitching lights out by june firstlock up the division...he still has to prove he can do it outside of april but geez this guy sure looks like he knows what he is doing could he be the '03 version of big cal eldred??
  7. you dont completely give up on garland because he is young and he could put it together..but in a season when you are suppose to contend you dont let him drag your team down either...how does that help his confidence when he knows his teammates are looking at him like , if only this guy could pitch we wouldnt be in 2nd place???...there comes a point where for this season only , the plug need to pulled not only on garland but maybe some others(im looking at you aaron rowand , mr billy botch ) this is a year where if we dont make the playoffs we lose any chance of signing bartolo colon long term..so i would not let JG or anyone else screw that up...i give garland 3 more starts...if he doesnt pitch lights out in 2 of them garland either goes back to triple A or to the bullpen depending on his option status...he can work on becoming a consistent starter next year after we ink colon to a 4 year deal because we went deep into the playoffs and had the money to do it since the cell was full from july on to root this team home... for botch..he gets one more blown save before the break...if he blows 2 more by then he is out of the role... for rowand..im really close on him after he failed to move a runner over from 2nd with no outs tonight..i think for now you stick rios out there against righties and lefties and until he prove he cant handle it, rowand becomes the 4th outfielder...if rios then struggles you can give rowand another chance.. you dont give up on the yongsters that are struggling all together..but you sure dont let them ruin the season either...we arnt rebuilding anymore
  8. that one cracked me up..twins number 1...if the twins or the white sox were ein the east or west id rate um 3rd in that division tops well maybe 2nd in each
  9. that one cracked me up..twins number 1...if the twins or the white sox were ein the east or west id rate um 3rd in that division tops
  10. the problem with koch is these streches can last almost a whole season...see '01
  11. I'm not against sending him down either, I'm just saying that it is too early to give up on him completely. Sending him down may just be the wake up call he needs. I seem to recall the working for Jack McDowell and Alex Fernandez, back in the day. or going back a little farther , it turned jim palmer intoa hall of famer

  14. well.if it is hitting below the belt kenny should have saw it coming..remember shouldergate??
  15. despite the great start by kc and in particular hernandez , affeldt , anscensio and george...that staff will not hold up over the entire season...they came in with the highest wins for a returning pitcher at 4..i think hernandez can win 15 but i wouldnt be surprised if any other starter won even 10 games..and their bullpen..well outside of macdougal is almost non existent..rather have KC beat up on minnesota now...
  16. plays like that are why this team has finished between the twins the past two seasons despite the sox being much better on paper ...this team this year is close to turning that corner..hell i even see some hope in carlos lee lately...his defense has looked better than ever this year and the last couple of games he has looked to go to RF when needed...the sox are starting to get this team concept thingy..jimenez needs to get on board quick
  17. i guess if jerry wanted to get koch some confidence back then he put him in at the right time...he let stevie go for the CGSO..then he put in koch and if koch was going to be botch he could have gotten him out of there.. i would have really hated to see loaiza give up a hit and then bring in botch with the tierun at the plate it was almost the easiest of saves...2 run lead with an out already..good spot to get billy some confidence.. but billy still sucked..best pitch was 95 mph..most wer e 91-92 and bautista just missed a homer on a fly ball to carlos at the wall...he doesnt have the velocity he needs to be sucessful with that straight fatsball..he has to be 98 plus
  18. I refuse to accept that Jon has Kip Wells disease. Jon isn't exactly crapping his pants the way Kip was, he's just a little gun shy. I think he can get over it. i wish we had kip and his racing strips right now instead of garland
  19. make it 7k's and 8 in a row
  20. last year against us jermaine dye fouled aball off his shin and shattered the bone..on the replay you could see the bone crack in slow motion..it was nasty... i think that was against us...i was watching the game live
  21. it was a botched hit and run by crede and fordyce didnt make a throw
  22. rowand you suck..runner on 2nd and no outs..you fail to get the bunt down then ground out to SS..that would be the last straw for me with rowand right now...if youre hitting 135 and cant bunt???
  23. this umpire has an extremely low and inside strike zone..and both ponson and loaiza are taking advantage of it
  24. anyone see the nasty look loaiza gave jimenez as they went into the dugout after jimenez made a lazy attempt to get surhoff at first base on his infield hit???...no love loss there if i was manuel id have jimenez on the bench right there...it was the perfect time to make a statement to this team that no matter what you hit if you dont play the game right 100% of the time you arnt gonna play...that someone on the bench will... eventhough the replay looked like surhoff might have been out thats beside the point..jimenez made it a bang-bang play when he could have gotten surhoff by 5 steps.. thats twice now already for jimenez..in the KC game after marte gave up the lead he went half assed after a grounder and it went under his glove for a hit...i dont care what he hits this s*** has to stop...for god sakes who has a lazy lead off man?? looks like carlos is working his way off my s*** list and jiminez on it
