durham played his ass off here for 7 years..ill never figure out the hated for durham....i guess other teams saw his worth because in an off season where guys like brian daubach had to sign minor league contracts durham got a 20 million dollar deal from the defending NL champs..durham imo is the 3rd best 2nd baseman in baseball right now.. you can make your case for jimenez by not ragging on ray..jimenez is off to a real hot start and i hope it continues...but he does have a rep as being a cry baby when things dont go his way..and it wasnt just klesko who ripped on him..nevin and ron gant did too..and gant's a guy that always been a well respected clubhouse guy.. i like the things d'angelo is doing so far...but lets make sure he isnt the problem child that he has been in years past..hopefully he has grown up a little and the fresh start with us is what he needed...he has a great opportunity here...i hope he doesnt blow it

i dont expect anyone to suceed evertime time..but i do expect them to take the right approach everytime....the game was still in doubt last night when carlos decided it was more important to try and hit a home run with the bases loaded instead of just trying to drive a ball somewhere...why do you think darrin jackson was so pissed off at carlos last night???....because he was thinking about himself and not the team...all carlos needed to be successful was a routine fly ball to RF..not a home run... 2 of his 3 home runs the last 3 days have meant absolutely nothing...but in the first inning thursday when the game was in doubt carlos grounded into a double play with the bases loaded and one out...last night he struck out with the bases loaded and one out in a game that was still in doubt as hawk says..dont tell me what you hit..tell me when you hit it... carlos has to start taking a team approach..every if it means it hurts his numbers...but in the long run i believe he will benefit numbers wise i will not support any ballplayer that doesnt put the team first..thats why despite his great start im not on the jimenez bandwagon yet...he comes with baggage and when he goes in a slump (which he will , every player does) i want to see how he handles it..remember kenny lofton last year started the season hotter than jimenez then he went in a slump and acted like a pussy..didnt even try...jimenez has the same reputation that lofton had in cleveland this season way too important for prima donnas..these guys have to put the team first

marlins stole 14 bases in 3 games...they are fun to watch

to all the carlos lee jock sniffers :fyou
-
borechard doesnt need to step in and do awesome things..all he needs to do is play good defence and show enough power from the left side to make pitchers adjust..we are kicking ass with rowand hitting a teen models weight...we dont borchard to be a savior...just add a little pop

you could see his grand slam the other day was a bad thing..last night he came up with the bases loaded and acted like a busher...if darrin jackson can rip on him so can we.. ill get off carlos lee's back when he starts to play the game the right way..this season is too important for this franchise for it be all about carlos...

i umped little league for a few years when my nephew plaed back in the early 90's and i can tell you from my exerience there is no excuse for missing plays..they really are easy to get right...that play with jose tonight was a joke..tjhe ball was about 6 inches from the 1st baseman's glove when jose touched the bag...ump should be to make that call as easy as if it was 6 feet away.. calling balls and strikes was a whole different story..that is much more difficult..on jimenez called strike out...that pitch was in the strike zone for about 90% of the time..it was a late breaker and it fooled them ump..sometime pitches fool umps too...when i was behind the plate my biggest problem was i couldnt forget what were blown calls...you know right away when you miss one and you want to make up..what usually happens though is you end up boxing yourself in...you call a pitch a ball thats on the outside corner and then before you know you got a real tight strike zone.. calling balls and strikes is what seperates the men from the boys...but the plays in the field...jose today and armado tues should never be missed..they are easy

ive said for a long time i wouldnt have a problem with maggs in CF..if we cant figure out our CF woes this year..i think the sox should ask maggs to go to winter ball and play some CF and see if he thinks he can handle it

that harvey is gonna be a good ballper will detroit win 40 games???...im beginning to think it might be a long shot

it was darrin jackson in the booth...its not the first time he has gotten upset at carlos...one thing about DJ..when he played he was a guy that really understood the game and was willing to sacrifice personal stats for the good of the team...he was an excellent hit and run guy..bunter..defensive player..pretty much everything carlos isnt...i think thats why carlos gets on his nerves so much

in his last at bat with the bases loadedand one out carlos went up there on all three pitches swinging for the fences and got blown away swining 3 times by a guy that in 9 IP has given up 15 hits DJ said ..ok , you can take a shot with your first at bat at the long ball..but after that you have cut down on your swing , look to make contact and drive the ball into RF...he saod carlos had two pitches on the outer half and he tried to jerk them both... the pitcher could tell what carlos was doing too...he went outside when he wanted to get him out..and it was the only time we failed to get a runer home from 3rd.. i was ready to come in here tonight and give carlos props...in his first at bat he was patient and drew a walk...in his 2nd at bat he fought off good pitches and tried to drive a ball into RF and ended up grounding out 4-3...that was , imo , his best at bat of the night..his 3rd at bat he started chasing pitches again..but he fought off two real good pitcher's pitches before getting a hanger and not missing it..hitting a serious bomb...then came the fateful bases loaded at bat that really pissed off DJ...he forget everything he built on in the 1st 3 at bats and looked like a real busher..that grand slam he hit yesterday is going to do him more harm than good.. why cant carlos get it???...this is his 5th season and he is still acts like a rookie...he has 10 million dollar talent and a 10 cent brain

i found it interesting that marte and gordon were both up with 2 outs in the 8th and not koch...i guess technically thats the right move but i would have thought jerry would have wanted to get koch back in there to get a save so his last outing doesnt stew... but watching koch pitch this year im beginning to believe there is something wrong with his arm...91-94???...thats not billy koch...maybe thats why he wasnt up tonight and manuel let bartolo finish..which is something he usually doesnt do

i was thinking the same thing..karim garcia in CF??

whatever happened to "just win , baby"???

well...against the 4 lefties we have faced this year when jose sits we are 0-2 , when jose started we are 2-0.. and i dont think jose got a hit batting right handed in either game (his double today was batting lefty i think)..i dont know what it about jose but since he has arrived here when he starts on SS the team is playing over .600 baseball...its been three plus years so its getting to the point where its not just a statistical anomaly

yeah i tried to hand out the midol but you know how b****y some of these guys can be at that time of the month............. s*** carlos would drive anyone into a PMS moment im thinkin he would drive someone into the looney bin first........pms is the least of my worries, makin me nuts .. now thats a different story..........you dont want me out of my mind around here lol lol lol........ thought you already were???

actually jimenez has cooled off some...i foundit interesting it was d'anagelo who got benched today and not jose for the lefty. last year jimenez hit 261 right handed and 247 lefty....so its wierd he would sit today against a lefty..

since he hit AA ball 2 years ago willie harris has hit .295 in the minors....his problem has been he is luis castillo but thinks he is babe ruth...if he is hitting home runs in charlotte then he is not ready to play uop here jerry manuel said in ST willie harris has to change his game..he has to learn to hit the ball on the ground..he hits way too many fly balls...so if he has developed pop in his bat at AA i doubt that will get him a look see up here

That wasn't intended for you Baggs preemptive defensive move
-
wtg danny!!! by the end of the season he could be a real key

maybe not his game, maybe others? We have been lacking a certain flow, a certain chemistry - It has nothing to do with Jimenez though cw. We haven't been getting the timely hit when we REALLY need it. Jimenez has been guilty of this this season but so has Valentin, Thomas, Ordonez, Konerko, Lee, Crede, and Rowand. A few snafu's aside, Jimenez has played a very acceptable 2B this season. Some of the posters on this board have let their personal relationship with Ray turn into hate for Jimenez. After all..... Ray was the model for unselfishness during his stint on the Southside my "hatred" for jimenez has nothing to do with my love for durham..lol honestly..didnt miles beat out jimenez in ST???..miles should be our 2nd baseman..not jimenez...but since jimenez is here and starting i hope these stories turn out to be false and he is the next soriano...but his past has me worried...who would really be shocked if it did come out d-lo was a s***head???
-
The difference here though LDF is that Jimenez gets on base and, so far, has exceeded his weight in batting average he started out like a house on fire...but his last couple of games you could tell he wasnt locked in like in previous games...twice this year he sat DJ against a lefty instead of valentin.. here is an intersting stat...when val plays against lefties sox are 2-0...when he sits sox are 0-2...something about having val on the field makes this team click.. be intersting to see if the local rags pick up on this story..i wonder what joe cowley thinks of dj..he is about the only local writer i respect
