no there wasnt..there were maybe 10-15 k at wrigley...wrigley counts tickets sold..not turnstyles..wrigley looked almost as empty as the cell
-
jon stepped up big tonight..lets hope he can build on this there was 2 jon garlands out there tonight...the first one was hanging curves and leaving sinkers up...through 4 innings KC was hammering him but couldnt get the big hit..from about the 5th inning on jon started getting good movememnt on the sinker and his curve was snapping off real tight..from that point the royals didnt stand a chance...i hope he figured it out and will go on a nice little run now
-
some more good news...we shouldnt have any fan attacks tonight since there seems to be more security then fans
-
plus its darker then hell at my house right now and moving towards the cell...we need the lead after 5...good news is billy botch wont have to pitch!! !
-
garland reminds of carlos lee with what he puts out as his vibe or whatever you wanna call it...you look at garland and he cou ld be in the middle of a 10 run inning and will have a smile on his face...he has to get more of a bulldog mentality...if being super relaxed works for you thats fine...but it aint working for jon
-
he is throwing that floater curve right over the heart of the plate when he isnt walking guys...he's not gonna be long for this game if he keeps that up
-
ibanez hitting 476 lifetime against girland...anyone on KC not lighting up garland???
-
1-0 KC as we give them another freebee
-
if sweeney is satan then randa is the anti christ
-
wild pitch..runner to 3rd..garland you still suck
-
what chatroom are we in tonight??
-
id have to watch choi a little more but i might very well end up wanting him over konehead...choi is tremendously strong..and he is a lefty...im always intrigued with lefty power because we have none... konerko is an average 1st baseman...so choi could very well have a better career..but its too early to tell yet

as long as they are ahead of us im worried...in '00 all we heard all year long was this will be the week we start to fold....okay then this will be the week...no , really now this is the week..never happened... not saying they will pull off a '00 chisox...but its just as possible it could happen as it is them folding up...if they are ahead of us i nthe standings...then ill be worried until we pass them... losing twice to them in their last at bat and its only april 16th hasnt help quench my fear either...how reminiscent on '00 is that???
-
didnt he debut against the royals???...and got lit up like a christmas tree???..other than that i really dont remember what he did against the royals
-
now the GM for the royals is saying the same thing that randa or whoever it was said...that unless the sox prove to him that they have addressed this problem he wont let his team take the field...so they upped it to management now...be interesting to see what happens but im about 95% sure the game will go on as scheduled..

How quick can you get more security there? 10K walkups aren't to be expected. How do you get more guards with an hour or two's notice? Because they are 10K walk ups they weren't figuring them on being there, how do you plan for that? i dont i expected a big walk up crowd..on the mlb boards i set the over under on attendance at just under 20k..others there were hoping for 30k...it was 80 plus degrees in chicago and a perfect night for baseball..we dont get too many april days like yesterday..a big walk up should have been expected Don't take it as I am defending anyone, but that is a crap shoot at best. To expect as many people as are ticket holders to just show up at a game is a big leap of faith. Yeah I figured there would be some walk ups, it is just 10,000 shocked me. well atleast from now on the sox will have to err on the side of caution...if its a nice day and a first place team is in town the need to prepare for big walk ups...like cwsox said earlier..the sox cant claim "unforeseen circumstances" anymore..its happened twice now...

i would disagree on that HSC..it looked like he tried to tackle the ump..but the guy was about my size and he was taking on an ex marine that was about 6'3 , 240...not a smart move..the ump threw him like he was a little mosquito...
-
number 4 is a real good idea
-
if they do fine jerry im sure he will find a way to pas that fine onto us as for security..agreed 100%...somethings got to be done..on baseball tonight they were talking about one more incident could jeapordize the all star game being played here
-
if you look at the ligue situation and this one last night..there was a significant common denominator..in both situations the combatants were drinking all night and their behavior was getting more and more bizarre as the night went on...there were plenty of warning signs in both cases that these morons were losing control the sox should hire trained professionals , off duty cops , private investigators, whoever, for each section whose job it is to watch for this type of behavior....if someone is losing control they can call security and have the problem removed before it manifests itself on the field... id also cut beer sales off after the 5th inning and you cant sell more than one beer at a time to any individual..might be harsh but until a better security program can be implemented some of us will have to suffer
-
i beginning to believe they need to limit beer sales too...its too bad responsible fans and the vendor s will be the ones who suffer but this has to stop...we arnt very far away from a "monica seles" incident think what would happen to the sox if a real tradegy happened on the field and a player ,ump or coach was seriously injured or even killed...how far would MLB go then to restrain us???...as far as contracting the sox..maybe moving the team???... fans , or the criminal element has now taken this to the next level...the sox , in regaurds to security have to do the same.... if nothing is done at the very least this incident will hurt attendance...out of town fans have another excuse not to come to comiskey..can you blame them??...if you dont live here and all you have to go on is your perception from what the media shows you would think you were taking your family into a war zone (exaggerating but you get the point)... steff..i enjoy my share of brewskis at the ballpark too..and i have never even thought about running onto the field..but its us responsible fans that will to shoulder the burden because of the few idiots im afraid
-
i honestly think today gordon was under orders to hit the inside corner or miss in...it was an 80% intentional walk...something billy botch should have been thinking about in the 9th...YOU DONT LET SWEENEY BEAT YOU...he might be the best hitter in the AL right now..he is atleast up there in the top 5 i got no problem walking sweeney and letting someone else beat us..or try to
-
rick white used to be a bouncer to supplement his minor league income..he is not afraid to mix it up...as for carlos...well if he fights like he hits a baseball then i guess him running over there from 1st base really wouldnt have mattered
