  1. I'd hate this less if I wasn't sure that it was all premeditated before Ozzie quit on the team. The fact that Buehrle accepted this offer knowing that it's a huge "f- you" to the Sox community is disgusting. I couldn't bring myself to hate him. But now that I know he's trash, all bets are off. I wouldn't be caught dead in a Buehrle jersey. He and Ozzie need to return their rings and stay off the south side. Forget the traitors, go Sox!!!
  2. Forgot about the Black Sox. Obviously we weren't alive then, but a scandal like that would be pretty disappointing.
  3. Got bored watching the game today, so I figured I'd go through and calculate exactly how much money we're wasting this season. If the season ended with the standings as they are now, this is a breakdown of how much each team payed per win. I realize that they haven't paid out the the entire year yet, but if you do extra math to factor in the fraction of the year played and run it that way, you'll still get the same order. Math works that way and if you don't believe me, try it. At least we're getting a slightly better deal than the Yankees... Royals $2,257,900.0 Indians $2,459,443.4 Rays $2,620,760.7 Marlins $3,163,555.6 Pirates $3,289,071.4 Padres $3,822,428.3 D-Backs $4,126,141.0 Nationals $4,245,461.9 Athletics $4,435,766.7 Blue Jays $4,809,061.5 Reds $5,078,757.7 Rockies $5,176,357.1 Rangers $5,768,704.1 Astros $5,891,166.7 Mariners $6,173,185.7 Cardinals $6,201,974.8 Braves $6,214,513.7 Orioles $6,561,849.1 Brewers $6,576,717.9 Dodgers $6,919,266.0 Tigers $8,131,171.7 Giants $8,444,023.8 Phillies $9,098,756.9 Cubs $9,652,358.8 Mets $10,012,275.8 Angels $10,692,194.2 Twins $11,273,700.0 Red Sox $11,529,105.4 White Sox $11,753,230.8 Yankees $11,864,060.6
  4. I've been against Ozzie for a few years. He certainly knows baseball, but it's pretty clear that he can't get people to play for him. It's not a fluke, I think that he completely mishandled Slring Training the past few years. All we ever heard was, "We're not doing so well now, but things will come around when the season starts." Well, the season started and our adrenaline got us through the first few games, but then the players have shown that they're comletely unprepared and overmatched. When watching games, it's pretty evident that our team just isn't as good as the opponents. The Tampa series was the worst display of baseball that I've seen in a long time. Firing Ozzie probably won't result in a winning season, but he needs to go regardless. Having said all that, if I owned the Sox, I'd drop Dunn, Teahen, maybe Pierre, maybe AJ, and a few pitchers. I just can't imagine that there will be the ticket sales to support "All In" and the team can't afford to have a bad year.
  5. Disgusting. Absolutely disgusting. The two worst things in sports are cheaters and quitters. Manny's been verified as both. I can't believe KW is bringing that garbage to the South Side. Since I live in Colorado and can't do it myself, I'm paying for one of my friends to go to a game just to boo Manny for me
  6. For a 4th/5th starter, Freddy's doing pretty well. There haven't been all that many games that he's given us absolutely no chance of winning. I think it's a mental thing right now, he'll be back at it in a week.
  7. I'd argue that Pierzynski has some baseball smart....... But that's probably just me
  8. At least we won't have to go to the metrodome and get embarrassed anymore....
  9. QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Apr 5, 2010 -> 01:34 PM) What will Q have more of come seasons end..... HR or HBP? HBP. Definitely. At this rate, he'll have 322. Beckham's got a fire in his eyes this year
  10. 2 HBP in one game.... wish my Fantasy league gave points for walks. And for web gems. (I've got Buehrle and Quentin)
  11. It's a snaking one. I'm just looking for some atypical choices that might work out. Trying to get some ideas for when everyone else takes my ideal picks.
  12. This may or may not be in the right place, and it might not pertain specifically to the Sox, but what would all of your recommendations be for my fantasy draft picks. Maybe submit your top 5 list? Obviously, Pujols is my ideal first pick, so don't include him. I'd take help with both pitchers and position players.

  14. I think that they need to vote and determine the awards before the postseason. I can understand the writers not wanting to take the spotlight away from the teams remaining in the postseason but it seems unfair to the rookies on teams that weren't as good this year. Rookies on the Yankees, Phillies, Dodgers, and Angels have more opportunities to impress, while Beckham can't do anymore to impress people this year. If it's an individual award, not a team award, it should stop after 162, IMHO
  15. Well, another year in MLB history has came and went. And things are back to normal. The Yankees once again made the playoffs, the National League is lame, and the WhiteSox suck. After the amazing 2005 season, I thought that we would have a chance to become a regularly good franchise. We've kept all our crucial players, even added some power into the hitting lineup. But, sadly, you apparently can't win on skill alone. You need desire. Something that was prevolent in 2005. That team was just destined to "Win or die trying" Well, this year, we died. Miserably and without any ferocity or heart. When did the WhiteSox become a power-hitting team? We won with "Ozzie Ball" and the principle of "get 'em on, get 'em over, get 'em in" How is it that South-Siders had the biggest winning celebration in baseball history, but are seemingly accepting of a 70-92 season? How are the players content to be one of the habitually worst teams in the league. And more importantly, how am I going to get through life if my passion and desire aren't shared by the individuals that can make it happen. This entire season, i was only thinking two thoughts, "When is this gonna end?" and, mostly, "There's always gonna be 2005"
