  1. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ May 25, 2008 -> 09:06 PM) even Dotel? Not sure why you say that...his WHIP is ugly at 1.58, but his K/9 is 14.7 and he's been a bit more wild than he generally ever has been, so I expect that to go down...he's been filthy. Barring injury, Dotel's going to have a great all-around year. you took what i said out of it's context, i was complimenting dotel, not disparaging him. figuring he struck out the side in that inning, i was definitely giving him his props.
  2. QUOTE (knightni @ May 26, 2008 -> 02:54 AM) omg lol, awesome. ROCK & ROLL DON'T WEAR A UNIFORM, SON.
  3. QUOTE (knightni @ May 26, 2008 -> 01:36 AM) "You know; John, all Latinos look alike to me." http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Carlos_Quintana wikipedia says i'm right! (just because nobody has made a page for the ballplayer yet, lol)
  4. lol Carlos Quintana is a boxer (Whom Miguel Cotto absolutely dominated)
  5. The Cuban Sensation Jose Contreras.
  6. trying not to overreact w/ these last two losses. at least we're not losing 13-1 or 8-0. pitching is still there. even octavio had one hell of an inning yesterday. and friday's game had us hitting against a guy with a sub 1.4 ERA on the year, we just got beat that day. it was hard to swallow yesterday's loss (getting shut out is painful), but I don't see that much of a difference in production between us and the Angels to be quite honest. in fact I think our starting rotation as a whole is better than theirs, just wondering when these guys will start hitting. after 2007, i will not hop on the bandwagon necessarily that "They'll come around", though i think warm weather will help
  7. If he continues to give us QS's all the way to July and to the ASB, what competing teams do you think would potentially bite and what do you think the highest possible value (in terms of traded players) would be? I've just been thinking about how bad he was in 2007 and parts of 2006. It looks like he's regained a lot of what has made him successful even at his current age With the amount of money owed to him, would it necessarily be a bad idea if the right team came along with the right players if we're 8-12 games out at the ASB? Oddly enough, I don't see us being out of contention by the ASB by enough margin for KW to even consider dumping any of our players, but it's just something that I've been thinking about lately. Jose's value couldn't be higher, assuming he stays relatively the same as he is now up through the first half of July What do you think?
  8. QUOTE (RME JICO @ May 24, 2008 -> 05:45 PM) Seemed like the ump wanted to get this one over. Several calls outside of the zone on each batter, ugh. Another great effort by the pitching staff done in by the offense. imagine the trade value of any of our 5 pitchers in our rotation right now, i'm not suggesting anything, far from it it's just something interesting to ponder, we could get ridiculous value for any of these guys right now, though i don't think it would be advancing our organization anywhere beyond trading contreras (his value is actually high right now IMO)
  9. we get swept tomorrow and we're still in first place, that's how bad this division is right now. sad.
  10. you know you have severe problems with your offense when you're afraid of losing when your opponent scores 1 run.
  11. nearly 2 months into the season plus a few weeks of spring training (a combined total of almost 3 months) and danny still isn't ready, this sucks.
  12. why can't our hitters put the bat on the ball against left-handed pitching? it makes absolutely no sense. with a mostly right-handed lineup, left-handers are what this team should hit more easily, not right-handers.
  13. i think it would be somewhat (i said somewhat!) naive to believe the weather isn't playing some factor into how some of these guys are hitting right now
  14. even if we don't make the playoffs this year, i have a good feeling about this teams future with the players we currently have you have to think there's at least a 50% chance that Fields will be playing 3B for us sooner rather than later, and couple that with Swisher (He'll come around I think), Alexei (in his recent playing time, you can see definite talent with this guy and he's playing an above average 2B IMO), Quentin (Nothing needs to be said here), and Danks+Floyd+Mark+Javy anchoring our rotation for the next 3+ years. when Jim leaves/retires, we'll still have some veteran presense in the lineup for the youngsters with Dye probably moving to DH and Paulie hanging around at 1B, along with AJ doing an excellent job behind the plate with Toby backing him up (Toby looks like, at least so far.. last year's lack of production was definitely injury-related). a 2010 Lineup that looks like this 1. Chone Figgins (FA signing!) 2B 2. AJ Pierzynski C 3. Carlos Quentin LF 4. Jermaine Dye DH 5. Paul Konerko 1B 6. Nick Swisher LF 7. Josh Fields 3B 8. Brian Anderson CF 9. Alexei Ramirez SS feel free to disagree with the batting order, but that lineup wouldn't disappoint me in the slightest assuming Brian has turned the corner and Alexei pans out to be better offensively than Uribe (How hard could that be?) sorry, it's just that the way we're playing right now has me feeling good and optimistic about this team right now and in the future Regardless of how our lineup looks in 2010, I think Kenny has the pieces in place to help him make this team competitive for the years ahead, either via starting position players in our organization or to grab other players via trades Edit: Does anyone know when Brian Roberts will be a free agent, is it 2009?
  15. QUOTE (EvilJester99 @ May 22, 2008 -> 09:27 PM) Another good outing by the pitching....great to see we had enough offense to SWEEP the Tribe!! is that summer glau in your avatar, if it is, omg... but it probably isn't. summer is beautiful tho ;(
  16. QUOTE (G&T @ May 22, 2008 -> 04:39 PM) Hall is playing tonight and Ramirez is batting second. Hall is batting 9th. and we've never faced laffey (have we?) doesn't look good to me.
  17. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ May 22, 2008 -> 03:07 PM) What's our magic number? 4 8 15 16 23 42
  18. QUOTE (greg775 @ May 21, 2008 -> 10:43 PM) It's almost impossible to "walk away" with a division title. Just ask the Mets last year and the Sox the year we won the WS. i dunno about you, but i'd feel a bit more comfortable with an 8 or 9 game lead
  19. QUOTE (whitesoxfan101 @ May 21, 2008 -> 10:56 PM) Monday is technically the first day I say you should look at the standings, but I heard Stoney say we are 3 up in the loss column on Minny, 4 on Cleveland. Nice. we're currently the only team above .500 in this division. sad. lol
  20. QUOTE (whitesoxfan101 @ May 21, 2008 -> 11:00 PM) This pitching is just unreal. Second night in a row Thome hit an oppo home run too, maybe he's coming around a bit. Man this team could be really good if we get some consistent offense, and the offense is improving recently. he's starting to realize how pitchers attack him, fastballs hard and on the inside corner, generally called for balls, and soft stuff away for strikes or swinging strikes if he shortens up his swing on the inside pitches, and goes opposite field with those away pitches, he could effortlessly hit a lot of bombs the other way
  21. or the one a few years ago "Ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhh myyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy! That's 3 runssssssssssssss buh-bye!" lol
  22. cool, we finally get a headline on mlb.com, it only took a 7 game winning streak and 2 bombs by Dye to get one lol
  23. let's start walking away with this division now please.
  24. 7 game winning streak, 5 games over .500 we're officially better than we ever were last year in terms of record and WPCT lol
