i've never seen a team like the 2008 white sox, this is unbelievable lol i have a hard time right now believing this team is as good as i thought they were at different points so far this season maybe we're just going through a bad stretch, maybe we took advantage of other teams during their slumps but are now facing them at their full strength i still see major, gaping holes in our offense though, and these hitters seem to NEVER LEARN or ADJUST from their mistakes which will ultimately lead to missing the playoffs once again blame the coaching, blame the players, blame both.. but something is fundamentally wrong with this offense and it isn't going to fix itself -

QUOTE (Tony82087 @ Jun 25, 2008 -> 08:42 PM) Considering you made the Anderson thread, I'm guessing this isn't sarcastic, even though it should be... nice flame bait~ he swung at pitches over his head. he's terrible -

Brian Anderson has absolutely no f***ing clue how to hit a baseball. Did you see some of those swings? Unreal. -

most people on this board thought, heading into this series, we'd be lucky to win 1 of 3 and as it turns out that's exactly what happened, we would've been lucky to win 1 of 3, but we got swept by the better team we'll be lucky to win 1 of 3 in the cell, IMO we're just not a very good baseball team with the current players that we have, crede is hilarious right now. you can pretty much call a popup anytime he steps in the batters box, or a double play. talk about not understanding how to hit a baseball based on it's pitch location, he just pulls everything and that's the result: pop up, or ground out. it's not as if i'm blaming crede, i just think he's not a very smart hitter, or at least hasn't been in the last month. perhaps he's trying to do too much in certain situations, i don't know FWIW, uribe has done well whenever we put a bat in his hands. the irony.

QUOTE (whitesoxbrian @ Jun 22, 2008 -> 08:31 PM) After this series, all the position comparisons on who would you take, should now look like this. C- AJ 1B- Lee 2B- Could go either way SS- Theriot 3B- Ramirez LF- Could go either way with Patterson and Quentin CF- Edmonds RF- Dye LOL @ your LF comment

dotel is just garbage, nobody fears this chump

i have this weird feeling that unless we blow out the cubs like 8-3 or 9-1 or something, i don't see us winning a low scoring close game let's hope javy has his curveball and his control today, his last outing was brutal
-
this is pretty funny. it's clear brian anderson isn't good. he constantly fails in situations where all he needs to do is make contact. it's happened multiple times this year. he also, most of the time, looks clueless with a bat in his hands (which leads to his failure in advancing runners) but he's better than DeWayne, because DeWayne has had limited at-bats. Got it.

QUOTE (BobDylan @ Jun 21, 2008 -> 02:57 PM) Buuuuut, can he be any better? There's nothing in his history that says so. Even BA can hit a home run every once and awhile. Left-handed bat, and a much needed speed-guy in the lineup. Yeah, he can be better. Just watching his at bats since he's been called up, he just looks like he knows wtf he's doing. He has a plan when he steps into the box. BA looks absolutely mystified every single time
-
QUOTE (BobDylan @ Jun 21, 2008 -> 02:27 PM) Brian Anderson is probably the best defensive center fielder in the game today, is one. Dewayne Wise was born in 1978 and has a career 353 at bats, is two. In the past three years, Dewayne Wise's batting average against RHP is .205 (lower than Anderson), is three. Dewayne Wise's career OBP is .241, is four. If you averaged his career numbers out to predict what he might do in a full year, it'd look like this: 298 AB, 41 R, 8 HR, 29 RBI, 14 BB, 48 SO, 11 SB, .201 BA, .241 OBP, .363 SLG, .604 OPS... is five. Do I have to keep going? Probably the best defensive center fielder in the GAME TODAY? I stopped reading your post after this.

QUOTE (lostfan @ Jun 21, 2008 -> 02:22 PM) LOL LOL if he can't throw his forkball, he isn't effective it's a pretty simple concept, about as simple as your response.

QUOTE (Flash Tizzle @ Jun 21, 2008 -> 02:11 PM) I'll admit it was disgusting watching Anderson swing and miss a hanging slider for strike three, but let's not appoint Wise as his limited successor. Especially in such a limited number of AB's. Wise can't be any worse than what I've seen from BA this year, and he has plus speed over Brian on the basepaths (I'm aware Brian can steal bases, but Wise IS a faster runner). He's also a lefty which helps split up our righties in the lineup. I don't really see any reason to send Wise back down over Brian after Paulie comes back, can anyone else think of one? Besides the cliche' "Brian has nothing left to prove in AAA." He can't hit MLB pitching, so he's not proving anything being up here. Look at his at bats, they're brutal, he looks so confused until he lays into a mistake pitch that's straight as an arrow.

QUOTE (knightni @ Jun 21, 2008 -> 01:52 PM) Too late now. The "Bronze God" has shown that he's human once again. BS, his ERA is still under 4. a LOT of teams would take a chance with Jose right now.

QUOTE (Flash Tizzle @ Jun 21, 2008 -> 02:07 PM) Funny how Wood's velocity hasn't dropped dramatically, even with surgery and injury issue after issue, yet Jenks' has..... probably some pain involved with Jenks throwing 100mph when you have a pin in your elbow, probably would've shortened his career if he kept up at that rate just my opinion
-
I'd rather see D-Wise starting games in CF when the option is there for the rest of the year, over BA. Wise is a lefty, plays above average CF defense, is a base stealing threat, and seems to be a lot more intelligent with a bat in his hands, understands counts he's in, etc. BA can't even hit sliders that flatten out over the plate, it's pretty ridiculous. BA for defensive substitutions only, late in games when we have a lead. Otherwise, put D-Wise out there until Paulie comes back and I guess Swish gets back out in CF.
