  1. QUOTE (3E8 @ Jul 31, 2008 -> 07:51 AM) Yeah Chicago Fire is the new nickname for Griffey's joints jesus christ i lol'd
  2. Reds fans hearing FIELDS for Griffey i hope this is just a bad f***ing dream if true
  3. QUOTE (JoeBatterz @ Jul 31, 2008 -> 07:37 AM) Red fans are loving this deal no matter who they get. if they were in contention they might be singing a different tune
  4. QUOTE (bschmaranz @ Jul 31, 2008 -> 07:34 AM) The only thing that keeps running through my mind is "okay, where's Thome headed to?" Seems like the only solution if Griffey can't play center anymore. But where the hell would Thome be going? Another AL team in the hunt? the only solution i see happening is griffey playing CF, Swisher at 1st, and Konk getting VERY limited at bats and yet, this is a terrible solution because KGJ is terrible defensively now
  5. Don Cooper is by far the most brutal interview i've ever heard, the guy sounds so scared that he's gonna say the wrong thing, and yet he always sounds like he's hiding something just brutal
  6. again, look at Griffey's july numbers, he's hitting the ball very well this month Dye: .345/.421/.655, 6 HR, 15 RBI, 9 BB, 17 K Griffey: .271/.386/.541, 5 HR, 17 RBI, 15 BB, 15 K if he could sustain those numbers for the rest of the year, this makes our lineup much better. we'd most likely have to limit his games played to 4-5 a week, to ensure his health though
  7. For what it's worth, Griffey is hitting .271, with a .927 OPS in July, with 5 HR, 17RBI, 15 BB & 15 K not too shabby, destroys what Konerko has been doing that's for damn sure
  8. QUOTE (alexgtp @ Jul 31, 2008 -> 06:38 AM) See the past 2 yrs of Ken Griffey talk on this board has come to bite us in the ass. WTF I am so confused. Another slow slugger.... We should of brought a lead off speed guy with high on base percentage. UGHHH.. Hopefully they are flippig him somewhere else... PLEASE GRIFFEY ...Be a man and do not accept!!! this deal!! While the Angels get richer we get slower and worse in the outfield.. I hope to god it's a flip job, he does not help our team
  9. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Jul 31, 2008 -> 06:27 AM) Reds fans are hoping they got Broadway. More quotes: when konerko is in the lineup, we are only running 8 capable hitters to the box, so this gives us a 9th guy who can actually swing the bat and get on base keep in mind who he's likely to be replacing in the lineup if griffey is told to wave his NTC so he can go back to playing CF, i wouldn't be surprised if he holds pat and stays in CIN
  10. QUOTE (G&T @ Jul 31, 2008 -> 06:11 AM) So who was traded then? Fields? Logan? i would never forgive KW if that was the chip used, seriously, i don't even see that being realistic
  11. WTF? Per the score just now.
  12. Two in a row sounds nice, 2.5 games sounds even better Carlos Gomez is 0 for 3 in SB against John
  13. QUOTE (BFirebird @ Jul 30, 2008 -> 09:46 PM) Winner, winner chicken dinner. Come on Danks, lets ruin their week and get a split tomorrow! what he said danks has looked pretty awesome in pretty much all of his starts this year, who are the twins running out there? Liriano? wouldn't surprise me
  14. hopefully this is just bobby getting the rust off, sheesh..
  15. QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 30, 2008 -> 09:32 PM) Breslow is one of the growing number of Jewish players in the majors. I never knew that Schoeneweis was. makes sense, his nose IS rather massive
  16. QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 30, 2008 -> 09:24 PM) Who's coming in to pitch? Great effort by Floyd tonight. easy heat
  17. Floyd rocks. I had a good feeling coming into tonights game that we had a better chance of winning than losing. He just keeps throwing strike after strike, moving inside and out, changing speeds and pitches. I've seen his fastball from 91-94 tonight, and his curveball has had some hard biting action to it Buerhle + Danks + Floyd is a nice 1-2-3 for ALDS
  18. QUOTE (Jimbo's Drinker @ Jul 30, 2008 -> 09:02 PM) Field out of game!!!! Was he traded, no don't be so sure, haha
  19. Gavin really has problems pitching out of the stretch, he's absolutely dominant for the most part after 1 out and nobody on base (he seems to throw a lot of pitches when facing the first batter of an inning, though)
  20. let's see how Gavin handles pitching out of the stretch, i don't feel good about this
  21. big game gavin has a nice ring to it
  22. gardenhire will keep livan in the game as long as possible, as long as we don't tear him apart too quickly we need to put up a few more runs on this guy before the twins pen comes in and locks the game down
  23. thank you gavin for pitching well so far
