  1. wtf @ baker in the twins game he's getting guys out on strikes out of the zone, repeatedly had someone 3-1, and struck him out on two high high fastballs, unreal
  2. anybody else thing OC looks awesome in the retro uni? natural look for some reason
  3. alexei is a beast, imagine how good he'll be when he's familiar with all of our opponents pitching staffs, he'll be a pretty badass hitter
  4. 3-2 to crede here comes the fastball pop-up or a homerun B)
  5. crede's uppercut swing on every single type of pitch makes me want to vomit
  6. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Jul 20, 2008 -> 04:02 AM) The Tigers are nothing more than a dangerously good offensive .500 team. similar to the rangers, imo
  7. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Jul 20, 2008 -> 03:55 AM) The 06 Cards disagree. Really though, it's just a matter of how the team is playing come postseason time. If they are dragging along, they'll get swept; if they're playing well, they might only lose 3 games all postseason. This team is more hot and cold than anything else. One thing that they have going for them is the pitching staff, and I see it remaining one of the best in the majors. Gavin is starting to remind me of Javy "I can't go more than 5-6 innings/Always expect the big inning from me" Vazquez, anyone else see this alarming trend lately?
  8. this team is so good and so bad, they are not a winning team if they make the playoffs, there's just no consistency this is from watching this team all year long, too. not just tonights game. even the games we win, i tell myself, this is a weird team it's because they beat themselves so much, it's ridiculous how many errors is crede pushing, almost 20? yeah that's amazing. and we're worrying about fields defense.
  9. QUOTE (knightni @ Jul 19, 2008 -> 04:23 AM) Thanks for your contribution to help improve it so much! it was beyond repair, i felt it necessary to let everyone know it was terrible consider it my good deed for the day
  10. this is by far, the worst white sox winner thread i've ever seen what a joke.
  11. QUOTE (MurcieOne @ Jul 17, 2008 -> 05:51 PM) Billy Beane has assembled one ridiculous allotment of prospects... risky for sure. and when those players reach the MLB and start playing well, he'll dump them off all beane cares about is saving money, while making money. not fielding a successful MLB product
  12. Phillies reached deal for Joe Blanton, particulars of the trade not known yet
  13. speaking of the ASG, quentin was terrible
  14. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Jul 15, 2008 -> 02:40 AM) And I'll continue to say that if Paul Konerko plays like he should - .850-.900 OPS - it will be the best offensive addition to any team in the majors, barring a superstar being traded. the sky is blue, i breathe air, point is, insert any hitter into our lineup posting an 850+ OPS and they'll help the team i don't see konerko being that guy though, he's not really shown me anything all year that would make me think he'll just suddenly pop out of the woodwork and start hitting .285 and getting on base at about 35% konerko's shown glimpses of his potential, but that's all they've been even blind squirrels...
  15. this is beane getting back at kenny for DLS & his TJ
  16. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Jul 14, 2008 -> 03:46 AM) why would Paul Konerko want to go to the Mets, and why would the Mets want Paul Konerko? That doesn't make much sense for either side. can we sticky what 10/5 means, so people stop mentioning this? i see someone mention trading paulie literally 3 times a week at least
  17. i was quite pissed after this series with texas, but one thing i've been wondering with regards to pitching there it's gotta be pretty difficult to pitch in 100 degree temperatures, especially if you're not used to it perhaps this is why texas rarely ever fields a winning pitching staff, and why that team is so f***ing balls to the wall awesome in their home park hamilton has hit like ....most of his homeruns there (14 @ home, 7 on road..), and he hits at a goddamn .364 clip at home, .266 on the road TEX offensive stats home: .300 BA (.372/.503/.875) away: .266 BA (.336/.421/.757) interesting
  18. QUOTE (whitesoxbrian @ Jul 10, 2008 -> 09:05 PM) The only problem is- how do we avoid his 10/5 status? fixed
  19. QUOTE (CWSOX45 @ Jul 10, 2008 -> 08:55 PM) It's still a team game. That's my point. you're putting too much emphasis on the fact it's a team game. yeah, you have team mates and you've got more than 1 guy on the field for defense but baseball is different, and individuals are more responsible for outcomes of games in baseball than in any other zone-scoring sport (NBA, NFL, Soccer, NHL, LaCrosse, etc), due to the importance of individual performances that's what the previous guy was talking about, and I agree with him. baseball players are, and should be held more responsible for blowing games than say, a wide receiver dropping a pass. there's really no arguement here.
  20. QUOTE (CWSOX45 @ Jul 10, 2008 -> 08:49 PM) You're ridiculous. The same batter doesn't bat 9 times in one game does he? How about one pitcher? Having one outstanding player doesn't constitute a winning team. you're oversimplifying this, baseball is by far the least "Team Oriented" of all the major sports, it has more individual matchups than any other sport does
  21. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Jul 10, 2008 -> 08:41 PM) Why do you find it unimaginable for a team with the 2nd best ERA in baseball to beat a terrible team in a 1-0 game? Was there something that occurred before Paulie's crappy play that made you think Mark was going to s*** his pants? We needed 5 more outs to win 1-0 and Mark was cruising. probably because this team doesn't win games 1-0, we haven't done it once all year long. add to the fact that the royals hit the ball hard and scored a lot of runs the last few games, it was only a matter of time they were going to put some runs on the board i wanted buehrle pulled out in the 7th inning for scott > dotel, i feel ozzie left him in for an inning too long
  22. i can't convince myself that paulie is actually helping this team win games this year, his average is brutal, he rarely hits flyballs with guys on base (but when the bases are empty, he somehow finds the way to hit deep flyballs to opposite field, go figure), he's been hurt pretty much all season and his defense and speed are non-existant i'd rather have a swish+ba combo at this point
  23. you're done paulie, back to back seasons of sub-mediocrity mark gets the L for this unbelievable i have no patience left for this guy
  24. did you guys honestly think we were gonna beat them 1-0? i mean, seriously this game was over a long time ago, kept telling myself "Royals are gonna beat us tonight because we're only scoring 1 run" we get to face soria, chalk up the L thanks paulie for all your help dawg~
