QUOTE(kwolf68 @ May 26, 2007 -> 03:39 PM) The only player I have any interest in off the Reds is Freel. I have no interest in aging players who can't run and are now injury prone. That's half our team.

I hope them and Cleveland just beat up on each other. I want the team with the worse record to win each matchup.

Plus, anyone who's played a team sport probably had one of those guys on your team. He annoyed the living f*** out of anyone he played against. He ran his mouth a little. Or a lot. But he's willing to do anything for the team to win, and he'll defend anyone on the team. Those guys are great to have.

QUOTE(BearSox @ May 26, 2007 -> 11:53 AM) Gio, Russell, Egbert, Broadway, McCulloch, De Los Santos, Honel(?)... we have some stacked pitching prospects. If just 2-3 of them can pan out, we should be in good shape. Honel is not a prospect, and McCulloch has not shown much.

And apparently BA said he has the best changeup in the system (EDIT, in the 2006 version at least; 07 has KMac) which I must have missed somewhere in my stalking of the guy. I still think Gio has a better chance at major league success, FWIW.

QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ May 25, 2007 -> 11:05 PM) There's nothing in Russells numbers that is begging for a callup. Gio is second in the minor leagues in strikeouts, and Eggy leads the SL in FIP (limiting walks + HR while striking guys out). They're both well ahead of Russel in terms of results. Russell needs his numbers to catch up to his scouting reports before I'll consider him anything more than a possible big league set-up man. Say both Gio and Jack get bumped up to the IL. Which do you think will perform better, if, say, they both are in Charlotte's rotation for the last half of the season. You'd think Egbert's lack of the gopher ball would work well for him, but I also think that Gio's a better pitcher. Either way, Gio has nothing to prove in AA. Egbert's close to that point as well. BTW, Egbert has allowed two HR in his last 221.2 IP. Seven homeruns his last 368.2 IP. NO home runs in over 133 innings. That is f***ing silly.

QUOTE(BearSox @ May 25, 2007 -> 10:59 PM) If all three keep pitching like this, all three should be up. Phillips should/could be traded and Nunez is useless, put him in the pen or just release him. And then possibly trade Haeger/Floyd/Broadway to open up one more spot. Floyd won't be traded, and the only way Broadway goes is in a big deal.

When does one of the JAG trio get promoted to triple-A? I have to think Gio is first in line.
