QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 10, 2006 -> 08:03 PM) Bad reviews of Phillips from someone at the game. He said he has a great pickoff move, but his stuff doesn't look MLB caliber and he's not fooling anyone. The Buehrle comparisons just keep coming....

QUOTE(Cerbaho-WG @ Aug 10, 2006 -> 07:56 PM) Add another one. Final line on McCullouch 6 IP 4 H 3 R 3 ER 2 BB 2 SO Whsiler also pitching for Bham, good start so far. I oughta just shut the f*** up in the future. I do know Philly was getting roughed up in Charlotte.

Natalie Portman and Scarlett Johansson
Well, to be fair, neither one is worth a s*** at third base.

The game will get played, it's just a matter of how quick everything dries up.

I say something then he gives up a 2-run jack. Anyways, solid looking start none the less.

QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Aug 10, 2006 -> 07:12 PM) Did he survive this one? So, according to the grounds crew, the rain was supposed to be stopping right now. It's also downpouring right now. That 7:40 start might be a bit optimistic. It was the tape in TWIB>

Who will be the best QB in the league this year?
QUOTE(SoxFan101 @ Aug 10, 2006 -> 05:18 PM) So let me get this straight. The Steelers fan thinks Hines Ward is a top5 reciever and the Dolphin fan thinks Culpepper has better weapons in Miami than when he had Carter/Moss.... interesting And the Colts fan says Peyton Manning is the best QB in the league.

QUOTE(The Ginger Kid @ Aug 10, 2006 -> 05:16 PM) Sure it's better, but he's still hitting around .210 on the season and that's my point, he's been a constant drag on the offense for the whole season. I wish it weren't the case, I'm a big fan of Brian's. His lack of offense has hurt the defense more than anything. So, are you saying that we should disregard how players are trending and just assume that their seasonal average dictates what kind of player they are currently?

QUOTE(The Ginger Kid @ Aug 10, 2006 -> 05:08 PM) You can call him the greatest of all time if you like. With his weak bat he belongs in AAA. With his weak .261 average since the All-Star break. It's not like we have another outfielder with worse defense and offense since then.

If Brian was 3/4 the CF he is now, and just dove around a lot. People would say he's better than A-Row in center. The fact that he's had like 2 web gem type plays detracts from what people think. Brian still has his issues covering towards the gaps when Dye or Pods are nearby, but I would expect that to change as he's in CF more and more. Now he just needs to shake off this mini slump. I know if people knew he'd hit over .260 after the break after his start there'd be no problem. I definitley don't like how he's looked lately though, because a lot of his AB are similar to the early year ones, at least in the last few days.

QUOTE(NorthSideSox72 @ Aug 10, 2006 -> 02:44 PM) If the guy is terrible defensively at 3B, what makes you think he'd be good as an outfielder? Has he played out there at all? First of all, he's not "terrible". He committs errors, but if he's anything like he was on BHam, well, according to BHam, it's that he's pushing too hard and that he rushes things. I think a lot of people think he can handle the switch a la C-Lee.

White Sox Loser
A criticism of Brian has never been taking walks. Besides, it's not like Tad is exactly a walk machine. I understand getting guys in front of our big boppers, and BA and Gooch could easily switch places, but like I said, it'd be someething I'd like to try once. Hitting in a different spot in the order changes your mindset.

QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Aug 10, 2006 -> 02:23 PM) Agreed, and I've thought that for a couple weeks (although I'd bet you have too). Rob gives better at bats, gets on base more, is an average left fielder (no really, he is....which is way better than Pods) and is just a better option to play LF and lead off. Also, I remember being up 1-0 in the 1st being foregone last year, and also remember that our pitchers would actually hold leads. God that was fun. Here's the kind of lineup I'd like to throw out there just once. Mack LF BA CF Dye RF Thome DH Konerko 1B AJ C Crede 3B Gooch 2B Uribe SS It's not anything to stick with, but I think it'd be worth a one game try to shake things up. Gratned, that's the slowest 4-5-6-7 ever, I think it'd be worth a change. I also think that Brian could do well in the 2 spot. He doesn't have the black hole behind him or in front of him. The lefies would be spread in the lineup too. Anyway, that's if Heads was manager for a day. God knows, we have too many auto outs at time.

Javy and Mark shaving their Danny Wright/Kyle Orton half-beards would go a long way towards success.

White Sox Loser
Remember when it seemed like we'd be up 1-0 after the first inning as a foregone conclusion last year? I love Pods as much as the next guy, but we need a new leadoff man next year. Right now, Ozuna has been off since he was hurt. I, at this point, have no problem with Mack starting in LF and leading off. At the very least, Rob's an intelligent baserunner.

I'm still on the Fields in LF bandwagon next year. He's got the athleticism. He's probably a better baserunner than Pods too, although my grandmother is at this point. The only thing that concerns me about Josh is (besides the K's) his exorbitant BABIP. I believe it's still over .400, even if a lot of that is just becuase he hits the ball damn hard. BABIP 418 Home BABIP .471 That is an UNREAL home average.

QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Aug 10, 2006 -> 01:59 PM) Grey Goose?? Damn, trying to drink that whole bottle might have been more of a health risk to him than those guns. There was a night involving an entire bottle of Grey Goose and a few of my friends this spring. Stuff got broken.
