Official Soxtalk 2006 World Cup Thread
The Swiss D has been strong. Granted, it wasn't a killer group that they were in, but they've got to be high on confidence right now.

Official Soxtalk 2006 World Cup Thread
QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Jun 25, 2006 -> 03:42 PM) Beating Ukraine and then one of ITA/AUS? I think they can do the first, and I don't think an upset in the second set is out of the question....

QUOTE(Ndgt10 @ Jun 25, 2006 -> 03:30 PM) Do yourself a favor and get a life. 15+ posts/day is laughable. I bet you are the kid who got pushed around on the playground during recess, and now is using his all power "moderator" role to get revenge without having to deal with any consequences. It must be rewarding to hide behind the computer and act bad ass knowing you will never have to deal in person with any posters here.

Recruiting Thread
Sounds like Bates is trying to work his mojo on players to come to ISU, including Bernstine. It still boggles me that the kid has ISU, Arizona St, Nebraska and USC listed as his interested schools on Rivals and he picked ISU.....

March Insanity
QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Jun 25, 2006 -> 03:03 PM) Don't f***in touch the NCAA tourny. It's absolutely perfect. Indeed. There's no reason to make the majority of the regular season pointless. Good teams that have a legit shot rarely get snubbed anymore.

Tiger Watch - Official Thread
QUOTE(chitownsportsfan @ Jun 25, 2006 -> 02:41 PM) That's a terrible comparison. The Nationals were never even close to THIS good, THIS late in the season. Furthermore, even when the were 10 or so games over .500, they had a NEGATIVE run differential. Anyone with half a brain knew they were going to eventually suck. The Tigers lead MLB in RD this year. I'm sick of people making dumb comparisons. They aren't a fluke. BP has them at over 80% odds to make the playoffs. Before you scream, the Sox are at 76% odds. Take that with a grain of salt, but historically, teams this good record wise and RD wise don't miss that playoffs that often. I think they'll make the playoffs. The key for the Tigers is to not crap themselves playing a team named the Yankees or Sox. 50% chance of them playing the AL East winner in the playoffs depending how they finish in the Central. I'm still not buying the Tigers as a WS contender until they beat the White Sox/Red Sox/Yankees. Any road to the playoffs and in they playoffs goes thru these teams.

Tiger Watch - Official Thread
Also, as an admin, I'd like to welcome the Tiger fans in here. I realize things may rub wrong at times, but it's great to have fans of other teams thinking of Soxtalk as the place where Sox fans are. To the Tiger fans: Understand you're coming into a harsh environment. Don't troll and don't maker personal attacks and you'll be fine. You'll join Twins, Cardinal and Marlin fans, among others, who coexist in peace. Soxtalkers: I moved this to the Diamond Thread, so if you don't want to hear about the Tigers, it's not in Pale Hose Talk. If the Tiger posters annoy you, like any posters, set them on ignore. This could be a pretty neat discussion as long as everyone stays rather civil.

Joe Crede's bright future v. Josh Fields, Ryan Sweeney
QUOTE(Soxpranos @ Jun 25, 2006 -> 01:22 PM) I think Fields will be our 1st baseman and Konerko will be the DH or vise versa. In three years? Or will Jim get hit by a train?

QUOTE(rangercal @ Jun 24, 2006 -> 11:16 PM) all we do is f***ing win with OZZIE. Kenny should have kept this private. Kenny brings in good chemistry guys, but he, himself is a f***ing bad apple. He needs to go. I'm tired of him trying to get his name in the headlines. We win on the nights hes been suspended this year too, if that means anything.- Kenny's thoughts on Ozzie and possible consequences

QUOTE(Kalapse @ Jun 24, 2006 -> 10:49 PM) Actually: So, I'm not judging him off of some stupid ass commercial, I'm just not a big fan of his sound and believe me I am not one to hate on unique styles (anyone who knows what kind of music I like can vouch for this). It's just something about his singing that I'm not a fan of. His anti Mike Caruso stance?- SOXTALK MAINTENANCE

QUOTE(greg775 @ Jun 24, 2006 -> 10:15 PM) How bout some duct tape for KW who says he may have to fire Oz someday if he keeps this up. Nah. KW was not in the wrong at all.- Joe Crede's bright future v. Josh Fields, Ryan Sweeney
QUOTE(dasox24 @ Jun 24, 2006 -> 10:17 PM) This is what I'm thinking also. It's probably the most realistic and best situation out there. Although, who's gonna lead off for us once Pods is gone? That could be a potentially big problem in a couple years. Also, another scenario is that Fields plays 1B. I like this situation a lot as well. Thome isn't gettin' any younger, and Paulie could move to DH. Depends on the 2b situation after Gooch.- Tiger Watch - Official Thread
