  1. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jul 29, 2011 -> 11:29 PM) KW overplayed his hand and way overvalued how much Cooper could get out of Edwin Jackson for 1+ seasons. He chose fully competing in 2010-11 (right away) over 2012-2015. Obviously, that looks silly in hindsight. And ofc we had Gio Gonzalez in our organization TWICE. Maybe it's a testimony to how desired he was by other organizations. Still, he was able to compensate for that loss by picking up Humber for nothing. Phil's numbers are better than Hudson's, especially if you adjust for league. Take a look at Edwin Jackson's numbers with the Sox and tell me he was anything but very good. 11-9, 3.66 ERA, 30 starts, 196.2 IP, 207 H, 16 HR, 57 BB, 174 K, ERA+ 114 He did pretty damn good with us, but no one seems to remember.
  2. QUOTE (FlySox87 @ Jul 30, 2011 -> 06:16 PM) Roger that. We're a .500 team and effectively have no CF or DH. I can only imagine where we'd be if those goons lived up to their potential. And yet we show up against good teams more often than not, while slapping around the Red Sox.
  3. QUOTE (SoxAce @ Jul 30, 2011 -> 06:15 PM) They are also one of the most boring. And I this is comming from someone who hasn't caught alot of games this year. They're one of the weakest in the power department in a long time, which we didn't expect. Maybe Dunn can continue his slightly warmer play.
  4. Win or lose, playoffs or not, I think we can agree on one thing. The 2011 Chicago White Sox are one of the toughest Sox teams to figure out in a LONG time.
  5. Dear God that's a pretty swing.
  6. Oooh that Thomas fella still looks pretty big.
  7. Finally back on the internet after moving. I feel for Edwin Jackson at this point, moving sucks.
  8. The guy from CSN: Keep your eyes on KW; the payroll trim of E Jack City/Teahen deal means it's more likely #WhiteSox ADD payroll than cut in next deal

  10. QUOTE (flavum @ Jul 27, 2011 -> 08:19 PM) Frasor was on CTL tonight. Sounds like a genuine fellow. Grew up a Cubs fan, but is excited to be with the Sox, back home, and can't wait to be in his first pennant race. I hope he gets his wish on that last part. He did sound like a nice fella.
  11. Um, at least our pen will be awesome. Granted, the game will likely be tied at zero, but still....
  12. The confusing thing is that I still don't know if we are buyers or sellers yet.
  13. I wouldn't terribly mind if this deal didn't happen.
  14. This deal simply makes no sense for either team.
  15. I don't get why Toronto wants either guy.
  16. QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 26, 2011 -> 09:29 PM) Thornton's either injured or getting traded it seems Whoa he's warming. I guess we felt better having Ohman just mow thru the lineup.
  17. QUOTE (FlySox87 @ Jul 26, 2011 -> 09:15 PM) Your shoulder better not fall apart if you're making $16,000,000 a year. Ha....wow.... Anyways, nice job for Will. He's going to have a bigger role for this team moving forward....maybe, probably.
  18. QUOTE (FlySox87 @ Jul 26, 2011 -> 09:12 PM) He doesn't get that excuse if he's making $16,000,000 a year. And SoxBadger, in regards to our ridiculous standards, see the above figure. I expect greatness out of him because he gets paid a s***load. In these last two starts where Humber started to wear down, I didn't freak out. Because nothing was expected of him to begin this season. Peavy, I hold to a higher standard. You hold Peavy to a higher standard despite the fact his shoulder literally fell apart?
  19. Thornton must be off getting his pre trade physical.
  20. So we're good again now, right?
  21. QUOTE (bucket-of-suck @ Jul 26, 2011 -> 08:11 PM) DP coming here. DP's typically don't smell like roses, either.
  22. Yay, let's get him in. Cleveland down 2-0.
  23. Gameday had PEavy throwing 94 against Betemit.
  24. QUOTE (chw42 @ Jul 26, 2011 -> 07:33 PM) I BELIEVE IN ADAM DUNN. Even his at bats that haven't had positive results lately have been encouraging.
