#2's actually pretty awesome. Totally within Biden's personality.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Mar 20, 2009 -> 12:50 PM) My concern is that it techincally makes them ineligible to respresent their district because by his own admission, his primary residence is elsewhere. Right. Sounds like he's technically following the law, but if you pay taxes to Maryland, that kind of makes you a resident of Maryland, doesn't it? edit: And anyone who wants to use Maryland as an alternative for income tax because it's lower must really have some high ass taxes, because our tax rates really blow ass here.

Guillen throws more names in the hat for leadoff
lostfan replied to CaliSoxFanViaSWside's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE (Jenks Heat @ Mar 20, 2009 -> 12:50 PM) Anderson at lead-off would be no worse than Owens or Wise. True, I think the takeaway from this thread is "holy s*** our leadoff situation is f***ed." -
Guillen throws more names in the hat for leadoff
lostfan replied to CaliSoxFanViaSWside's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Mar 20, 2009 -> 12:36 PM) Saw that artcile this morning, kind of irritates me. Headline says Anderson and Fields under consideration for leadoff, right? Yet, look at the actual quotes. Guillen has said that Getz is, but has NOT said Fields or Anderson. Looks like those two names are conjecture on the writer's part. If that's conjecture, who in the hell would "conject" Anderson or Fields? Especially Anderson? -
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Mar 20, 2009 -> 12:24 PM) Well this does make him eligible to be in the cabinet now... I actually just finished paying the rest of my taxes to the federal gov't, I guess I'm ineligible to be a senior administration official.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Mar 20, 2009 -> 12:16 PM) I'm sure the fine people of California will love this... http://weblogs.baltimoresun.com/news/local...an_gets_ma.html If a normal person (e.g., not a Congressman who is supposed to live in that district) did that, it probably wouldn't be a big deal would it? I claimed IL residency all the way until I got out of the military because IL didn't tax military pay.

QUOTE (Princess Dye @ Mar 20, 2009 -> 11:47 AM) Wise showed an ability to get hot. That's more than I can say for our other options at CF. His PH stats were very good, so at the very least he should be cemented in no less than that role. Anderson and Owens have both had longer hot streaks. Hot streaks are just that, streaks. Any MLB player can get them.

QUOTE (Cknolls @ Mar 20, 2009 -> 11:01 AM) Tonight on Countdown with Keith Toolberman: Tonight's worst person in the world: Bill O'Reilly and Fix News for really thinking Obama meant to imply any malice toward Special Olympics participants. Bill-o and Fix.....Worst Persons in the Worrrrrrrlllllllllddddddd! Spin it like a 45, Keith.. Actually he's called out Obama a few times before. Not often but if Obama f***s up bad enough Olbermann will say something. I haven't watched him lately though.

QUOTE (Athomeboy_2000 @ Mar 20, 2009 -> 10:18 AM) GOP loves this guy, i tend to think he belongs here. Not so much here, just about everyone on this site is in unanimous agreement that he's an embarrassment.

I'd say posts about "he who does not deserve my attention enough to be named" really belong in the Democrat thread.

QUOTE (Jenks Heat @ Mar 20, 2009 -> 10:02 AM) I really do not think people understand how bad Owens and Wise are....... People on this board? Virtually the whole board is in unanimous agreement about that although there are a handful that still think Wise's little hot streak last year wasn't a fluke. Actually I know why Wise hasn't been doing anything - because I haven't been ripping on him and I'm quiet about his lack of skill lately. Last year it was like clockwork, I'd b**** loudly and he'd hit a triple or something immediately after. I went on like a 3 minute rant at a game against Oakland and he hit a leadoff HR, making me look stupid. Awesome.

QUOTE (Athomeboy_2000 @ Mar 20, 2009 -> 10:07 AM) I'm sorry, I thought gifts were all about the thought behind it, not the value. I guess we should have bought Britten a few Gold plated warships to prove our love to them. At the end of the day it's just a dumb rookie mistake. He needs to stop burning through his mea culpas so fast though.

QUOTE (Athomeboy_2000 @ Mar 20, 2009 -> 09:40 AM) How is buying a DVD for a friend "the stereotype of the arrogant Americans"? THe dude bought him a DVD. BIG DEAL! In contrast with what the British PM gave Obama, some elaborate fancy pen set. Obama gave Brown the DVD set and he was probably thinking "WTF I coulda bought this off Amazon." Ultimately this will have no effect on US-UK relations but yeah, it was a flap, a self-inflicted wound. Doing silly dumb s*** and giving his critics easy ammo seems to be a weakness of Obama's.

I don't know why but this post is funny to me. QUOTE (Winning Ugly @ Jun 18, 2003 -> 10:42 AM) That's not where the Red Sox would start, since they would want Colon to compete against the Yanks for the AL Title THIS YEAR. Trading Nomar, even with that SS prospect they have, would be a downgrade for them and a waste of time and money. That prospect (obviously Hanley Ramirez) is now probably the best player in baseball, second only to Pujols. Just looks funny reading an old post like that.

QUOTE (Soxpranos @ Mar 19, 2009 -> 09:10 PM) Kenny could of told Beane what we see in this board very often, that "Anderson is a phenomenal defensive Center Fielder" but we all know Beane is a a very brilliant man. Anderson IS a phenomenal defensive CF but you kind of answered your own question here.
-
QUOTE (Soxpranos @ Mar 19, 2009 -> 08:43 PM) LOL, watch out... man why couldn't we send him instead of Sweeney. Look at the bright side, we have a so called gold glove candidate at CF according to many. Because when you're negotiating trades it's a little harder to convince the other GM to take a player that sucks over a player that doesn't suck than it sounds.

QUOTE (Alpha Dog @ Mar 19, 2009 -> 05:55 PM) But he was there before the checks left, regardless of the mobility of the cows, or their vests, and knowing what the reactions WOULD be, he should have TRIED to do something before then, not AFTER most of the country calls for his head. I don't blame him for the contracts, I think he royally f***ed up in not trying to do something before the checks went out. Not as big a f***up for giving out contracts that allow for bonuses when you bankrupt a country, but still a f***up. All right, I see where you're coming from now. I don't really fault Liddy for not being perfect, I mean he has the worst job in America right now and he's basically doing it for free because the government asked him to. I still think the 2 Congressmen that were on his ass are idiots though.

QUOTE (kapkomet @ Mar 19, 2009 -> 05:34 PM) Oh, I can't see this... "Kapkomet has jumped the shark" lol

QUOTE (elrockinMT @ Mar 19, 2009 -> 05:12 PM) I still miss that guy I know how you feel, I once had a urinary tract infection where it literally felt like I was pissing fire and tiny razor blades, sometimes I get all nostalgic thinking about that too.
-
QUOTE (Alpha Dog @ Mar 19, 2009 -> 04:58 PM) How about asking them not to take it in the first place? Asking them to return it is like closing the barn door after the cows have left. potato potahto. AIG was contractually obligated to give them the bonuses I think by Sunday. edit: And you're right, the cows did already leave, but Liddy also got there after the cows left, too.
-
QUOTE (kapkomet @ Mar 19, 2009 -> 01:38 PM) Oh my Gosh... you have the White House and Congress coreographing this s***. I told you once that this is class warfare. That's what's happening before our very eyes.
-
QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Mar 19, 2009 -> 01:13 PM) There is a difference between hundreds of millions for bonuses paid to people who caused the problem, and $10M on offices that are part of normal operating business. This one doesn't upset me that much. Yeah, it's going to be really annoying if the media is just going to take every really big operating cost of any company that's taken bailout money and framing it in the context of taxpayer fraud to provoke more unnecessary populist outrage.
-
Besides asking them to return it (which he did), what could he really do? the contracts were already written and signed. A contract is a contract. Even the administration isn't trying to directly abrogate those contracts.

RotoWorld Suggests White Sox should sign Jim Edmonds
lostfan replied to TLAK's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE (SouthsideDon48 @ Mar 19, 2009 -> 12:42 PM) Well then say that to Kalapse, then. He' the one that brought up Jose Lopez in the first place. He's comparing only their offensive numbers which is perfectly logical. -

QUOTE (SouthsideDon48 @ Mar 19, 2009 -> 11:28 AM) Hey man, I was only responding to Kalaspe's post where he brought Jose Lopez and Swisher up. He brought up Jose Lopez out of the blue, and I was simply stating that I'd take Lopez for 2nd base over Anderson in CF any time of the day. I can go further and say that if someone is faced with the choice of having Anderson or Lopez on their team, without consideration fort he positions they play, then they should always go with Lopez. Like NSS said, the bolded part is what I don't get, If you're saying "I think Lopez is a much better player than Anderson will ever be" well, then yeah, that makes sense. But not comparing a 2B to a CF.
