In reference to this post... Someone I follow on twitter said Heyman was on MLB Networks and said: White Sox tossing around "pie in the sky" ideas. "somebody that they've loved for 5 years" Also he just tossed Justin Upton's name into the White Sox possibility bin. Don't know if that's based on anything but he said it. Can anyone vouch?

The $160M for Greinke is just crazy, to me he is one of the most overrated pitchers out there. -
QUOTE (GoGoSox2k2 @ Dec 5, 2012 -> 04:23 PM) sounds like a package to go after Justin Upton. (dreaming I know) Since we're throwing names out there, any hitter that's LH ?

DKnobler @DKnobler With 3B settled, White Sox feel free to look at trade market. Hoping to make a splash Yes yes yes.
-
White Sox talked with Chavez before signing Kepp, Chavy preferred Arizona. per DKnobler.

@jaysonst Useless Jeff Keppinger info: 3 players have more xbh & BBs than strikeouts since '07: Pujols, Pedroia & Jeff Keppinger.

BREAKING: @scottmerkin Sox still have interest in Hannahan despite confirmed Keppinger deal
-
Rosenthal says around $12M
-
Phil Rogers @ChiTribRogers Jeff Keppinger does well in Bill James' defensive metrics. He's a +7 runs saved in 50 games at 3rd last year vs. Kevin Youkilis' -1.
-
He only played 50 games at third base last year? I'm not liking this move.
-
Dan Hayes @DanHayesCSN Per @JonHeymanCBS, #WhiteSox sign Jeff Keppinger. Buddy Bell had him in Kansas City and loved him. Fits the plan for offense
-
Is it confirmed?

Hannahan to White Sox is picking up steam as few guys just recently mention it on twitter. Marlins other team with interest. UGH. @jonmorosi Jack Hannahan has interest from teams on major league deals. #WhiteSox and #Marlins among suitors

QUOTE (Baron @ Dec 4, 2012 -> 09:05 PM) Sounds like Rick doesnt really want to trade Gavin. Sorry but where are you getting this from?

QUOTE (floridafan @ Dec 4, 2012 -> 09:49 PM) How has Brent Morel's defense been? I see he is a .230 hitter with 10 homers in his 2011 season when he was healthy. Why would he not be the logical replacement for Youklis? Other than being a .230 hitter... NVM I see that his glove, not his bat is his calling card. Brent has been dealing with back problems (seems to be the curse of White Sox 3B position) last year. I asked him recently how he was doing, he said his back is fine. He gets criticized a lot on here, but I think we haven't seen the real Brent.

@DKnobler How weak and overpriced is 3B mkt? Frustrated White Sox have even looked for guys they could convert to 3B
-
How are his splits? There was mention of possible Morel platoon earlier today.
-
paul hoynes @hoynsie Heard Jack Hannahan has big league offer from AL Central team. Could be White Sox, who will need 3B help if they lose Youkilis. #indians.

QUOTE (chw42 @ Dec 4, 2012 -> 03:15 PM) We can't afford Keppinger at $4 million a year? If that's the case, why even bother to sign anyone else? I was going to replay with identical response, but then I thought maybe ss2k means if Keppinger is getting this money, rest of the 3B class will be priced way out of Sox range.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Dec 4, 2012 -> 03:38 PM) The Yankees seem like they would be a good fit for him. A lot of ego's in that clubhouse, and it never really seems to bother them. Perfect fit if you ask me.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Dec 4, 2012 -> 11:12 AM) ???? JIM BOWDEN @JimBowdenESPNxm Greinke market down to 1. Dodgers 2. Angels 3. Rangers in that order with possibility of mystery team Tor?Cws?Bos?.Nats out..Braves unlikely I'm sure it's pure speculations based on how badly Kenny wanted Greinke last season.

QUOTE (maggsmaggs @ Dec 2, 2012 -> 08:08 PM) I hate that argument. That's like saying, if you take away pitcher X's three really bad starts, his numbers are pretty good. Well, you can't and a ton of hitters/pitchers have bad months or starts that affect their statistics. So Beckham is a hitting equivalent of Gavin Floyd, if they both found some consistency they could be really good.
