    2012 TV Thread

    Did someone just say Jersey Shore?
  2. Hahn also said there's a chance, although probably not as great, that A.J. Pierzynski will return. "There's absolutely a chance," Hahn said. "Given the history and level of communication, there's certainly a chance until he's elsewhere. We had A.J. for eight years, which I think is a lot longer than people expected. "He's been fantastic for us, just like Mark Buehrle was. ... Unfortunately we had to watch Mark walk out of the door, because it was the best thing for Mark and the best thing for the organization given his market at the time. That could well happen again. But we signed A.J. for eight years. We had three multi-year deals in the mix, and we've got a good relationship with him and his agent, so at least each side is going to make a decision with their eyes wide open. If this is the end, it was a great run. If not, hopefully we can continue it." Rick Hahn on AJ Pierzynski via ESPN.com/Chicago
  3. "I had a real good conversation with Kevin when we informed him we were declining the option the other day," Hahn said on "The Waddle & Silvy Show" on ESPN 1000. "This is the first time Kevin has had a chance to be out on the open market, and he's got a young family out on the west coast, and he wants to explore what's out there. "But he knows there is no confusion in his mind about our desire to bring him back. So we're going to stay on that, stay in communication. It's not a great time to be a club in the free-agent market looking for a third baseman, the player pool is not real deep, so I expect Kevin will be popular, but we're going to be in on that until the end, I think." Rick Hahn via ESPN.com/Chicago
  4. QUOTE (Jose Paniagua @ Oct 31, 2012 -> 09:12 AM) Ah, good call bringing this up. This whole place was a hate-fest for Jake when he turned down that first trade..it wasn't just you. Some of us apologized as soon as he accepted the trade second time around
  5. This didn't take LONG, even tho I realize BR sucks.
  6. Keep in mind the source, I don't trust Sports Center much, but hey, they said it.
  7. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Oct 30, 2012 -> 09:50 PM) Peavy fought to stay in San Diego even when they were selling everything in sight. He doesn't care about winning, or money, he cares about being somewhere he is happy. This contract was fully expected, and not a surprise at all. Yup, he strikes me as a guy that doesn't like 'change' too much. He was saying for a while now how he'd love to stay in Chicago.
  8. It was actually a tie (what?) with Hellickson. Buehrle wins NL one!
  9. So contract looks like this. 2013 - $14.5M 2014 - $14.5M 2015 - $15M player options if he reaches certain milestones (details unknown but most likely IP as they want him healthy) This will be owed to him after the deal is up. 2016 - $1M - buyout 2017 - $1M - buyout 2018 - $1M - buyout 2019 - $1M - buyout Please correct me if I'm wrong.
  10. QUOTE (Big Hurtin @ Oct 30, 2012 -> 09:13 PM) I'm confused. Wasn't the option almost that much for the one year? Team option for $22M for one year or $4M buyout.
  11. QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Oct 30, 2012 -> 05:19 PM) Sign David Wright and AJ and let's go win the world series. David Wrights option will be picked up by the Mets. Peavy's $4 mil buyout to be paid in annual installments of $1 mil from 2016-19. -- Gonzo ^^ Interesting.
  12. greg is not going to like this. Just heard on Sports Center, that he most likely will be available with Royals seeking starting pitching.
  13. Am I the only one who thinks Tyler is going to get exposed BIG time given regular playing time?
  14. QUOTE (winninguglyin83 @ Oct 29, 2012 -> 10:21 PM) AJ said no hometown discount, so my guess is see ya. Paulie will reign as the last piece from 2005, which is at it should be. time to get younger I don't have any faith in Flowers because of his enormous K rate. But it's time to try Plan B. Can we get a link where he 'said' that. He's coming off a career year, it's smart for him to test out free agency.
  15. One on one with Kenny after the promotion.
  16. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Oct 28, 2012 -> 03:23 PM) /facepalm
  17. QUOTE (greg775 @ Oct 27, 2012 -> 11:50 PM) The AL should be embarrassed. Giants should not be up, 3-0. In my opinion it shows you how weak the AL was this year, that's why I wanted Sox to get in and play the Yankees so bad. IMHO.
  18. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Oct 26, 2012 -> 06:35 AM) This is all how you percieve it. None of knows what actually is happening in that front office in terms of personnel decisions. For all we know, Rick Hahn could have had a far more heavier hand in decisions than any of us every knew. KW has already talked multiple times about how much he has to do with negotiating contracts. This "Rick is just Kennys b****" talk is purely speculative. Thank you.
  19. Anyone getting the new COD: BO2
