That preview scene with LaGuerta arresting Dex is definitely a daydream of his. Him throwing her in the back of his vehicle.....I'm not sure. It would be awesome if Dex finally get rid of her, at some point, push will come to shove for one of them. Also, I was really rooting for that Estrada guy to escape. That at least leaves a physical threat loose that Dexter has to worry about. The guy knows who Dexter is now, knows Dexter will continue to try to kill him, so he may rally his thugs he may have somewhere and fight back. It's a nice loose end.

At least some AL scouts see it my way too... Baseball America article...: "An AL Pro Scout: "I've gotta say—I think it's a good trade for both teams. And I really understand and like it for Kansas City. At some point, they have to try to win. They've done a great job adding young talent to their big league club but have just come up a bit short with pitchers. It's not an easy thing to do. They've acquired a present top-of-the-rotation veteran in Shields and a present fourth/fifth starter in Davis. These two guys will step right in and impact their rotation." "One more AL Pro Scout: "I think it's a really good trade from Kansas City's standpoint. You have two proven guys that aren't making a lot of money. Now they don't have to overpay for Anibal Sanchez. I'd do that trade in a heartbeat. (The Royals) have to win. Who cares if the Omaha Storm Chasers are good for the next couple of years? They have to win at the varsity level at some point, don't they? I think it's a great trade for the Royals. Could it come back to bite you? Yeah, but if they don't win on TV, it doesn't matter. It's a winnable division." -

In related news, this was the best 22nd birthday gift Myers could have gotten. -
How and why did you become a Sox fan?
ChiliIrishHammock24 replied to YASNY's topic in Pale Hose Talk
No idea. My entire family is Cubs fans, my dad used to dress me up in Cubs gear as a child. I guess it was probably because my dad always got free tickets from work as I grew up (still does), and Sox tickets came much more often than Cubs, so we went to a ton of Sox games. Magglio and Frank drew me in I would guess. But I actually hated baseball until I was about 11, and loved it around 2003 I'd say. My friends all played baseball growing up, I played soccer. So they used to make fun of me all the time for playing soccer and being a "grass fairy", so I would in turn try and make fun of them for liking baseball, out of spite. Eventually I couldn't hold back my love for baseball, and became a big Sox fan probably around '03. That's when I was actually looking up scores every day, researching players, buying jerseys, asking for White Sox gifts for my birthday and christmas. -

QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Dec 10, 2012 -> 12:27 AM) I believe if the Rangers miss out on Lohse and/or Sanchez, the Sox could be good trading partners. Floyd for Olt and others? I'd jizz in my panties if we could get Olt, but I'm getting my hopes up. -

QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Dec 10, 2012 -> 12:13 AM) I still highly doubt that. But whatever, lets say for a second that this does make them a .500 team and 2nd in the division, that gets them where exactly? If you're going to give up what they gave up, the big piece you get back in return better be a whole hell of a lot better than James Shields. I'm not arguing they won this trade, I'm just saying it's got to be nice for Royals fans to finally see them making an effort to get better immediately, rather than relying on future prospects to pan out. They've been doing that for a decade now. If I was a Royals fan I would be upset thinking about what Myers may turn in to, but happy to know my team may actually not suck next year. They are finally trying something different. -

QUOTE (chw42 @ Dec 9, 2012 -> 11:53 PM) If that gets them to .500, is that even close to being worth it? Your team isn't going very far when James Shields is by far your best starting pitcher. Doesn't matter, their fans deserve to have a team that doesn't continually suck garbage all year long. This team could actually win 80+ games, something they haven't done in a decade. They no longer have to hope their prospects pan out and save them, because for the past decade, they haven't. If they add a couple more pieces, they could be the #2 dog in this division. -

I don't think anyone can deny this gives the Royals the best team they have had in a long time, and that's important to mention. -

It's an overpay if you believe in those Royals prospects. The Royals have had a ton of misses over the last better part of a decade. I mean, how often do we hear of them having a stocked farm system, only to have so few of them ever pan out? Wil Myers looks great, yeah, but for the first time in a while the Royals have a MLB club to be dealt with, not just the threat of a "good future team". -

Dear god.... Jayson Stark @jaysonst Stunner RT @Royals: #Royals acquire RHPs James Shields, Wade Davis & PTBN or cash from Tampa Bay for Myers, Odorizzi, Montgomery & Leonard. -

QUOTE (DirtySox @ Dec 9, 2012 -> 03:48 PM) I'm very curious as to what names have been floated regarding any trade talks involving Vicideo and/or De Aza. Yeah, I agree, especially Viciedo since his value is still future value. -
Who should the Sox get to replace Myers?

QUOTE (Lillian @ Dec 9, 2012 -> 03:38 PM) So, exactly who is this stud third baseman for whom the Sox could trade de Aza, once having thrown all of that money at Bourn? Would he be another high priced player? If so, wouldn't it be better to just spend the combined salaries for Bourn and this "mystery" player, on Hamilton instead, and just keep the low cost de Aza? I'm sorry, but I don't quite see how this is going to solve the problems of acquiring an impact left handed bat, and a third baseman. De Aza + Floyd, not just De Aza. And under no circumstances do I want Josh Hamilton on this team, not even if Hahn magically finds $25M in extra money to spend next season. -

QUOTE (2nd_city_saint787 @ Dec 9, 2012 -> 03:30 PM) Bourne-.274 9 57 .348 De Aza-.281 9 50 .349 Bourne had just 1 more XBH in 24 more games Yes Bourne is better on the base paths and probably in the field but I don't see why its so hard to believe the comparison. You are only comparing 1 year from De Aza (2.7 WAR) vs. 1 year from Bourn (6.4 WAR). Bourn AVERAGES a great season (5 WAR). I have more much confidence in Bourn having a great season in 2013 than De Aza. -

I can't believe so many people are comparing De Aza to Michael Bourn as being so close to each other. Yeah, sure, they use a similar skill set, but Bourn is the superior player. And Bourn is only 1 1/2 years older than De Aza. -

QUOTE (chw42 @ Dec 9, 2012 -> 02:37 AM) Bourn is going to get Rios-like money. Do you really want to pay a guy who is extremely dependent on speed and is getting towards 30 Rios-like money? I don't. Absolutely, I do. Speed, defense, XBH, averages 5 WAR a season. 4 yrs/$50M, sign me up. He'll get more than that, though. -

Hahn just needs to sign Michael Bourn, and trade De Aza + Floyd for a 3B already. I don't know what he's waiting for. -
QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Dec 8, 2012 -> 02:46 PM) Mother f***er. Got the yellow light on a 60gb PS3. Anyone have this problem before? I see there are a ton of do-it-yourself fixes out there, wonder if they work. I was up late on Green Bay in the conference finals too Some place in Chicago, Chicago Gadgets or something? They fixed mine for $50 a couple times. Nothing is a permanent fix unless you pay a couple hundred. My 60GB PS3 broke 3 times, all from overheating (It's a design flaw, not user error). Now it just sits at our lake house for movie use only. Games makes the system work much harder than a movie disc or Netflix.

MLBTR says the Sox and Mariners discussed a deal for Viciedo. I would hope it meant somehow getting Kyle Seager in return. Also said a deal was discussed between Mariners and Reds that would send De Aza to Cinci. Not sure why it's worded that way. 3-team trade? Or did they mean Sox would trade De Aza to Cinci? I can't imagine Todd Frazier would have been in play, maybe a Henry Rodriguez or something? -

Far Cry 3 is the best game I've played since Red Dead Redemption. If there was one game everyone should go buy or rent, it's FC3. Insanely fun, and in depth.

QUOTE (justBLAZE @ Nov 26, 2012 -> 11:12 PM) Is it just me or is this offseason dragging in regard to Sox moves? The whole free agent market is crawling. The largest deal signed so far was the Jake Peavy $29M deal. Can you imagine what it must be like for other teams? Sheesh. Winter Meetings in a week can't come soon enough.
