I believe we only signed Alexei for 3 years. That might be the reason they didn't stick him in AAA. Richar and Getz have options so I would want Alexei getting the playing time over Richar. Does Richar fit the utility role? He was brought up as a SS and played SS in Charlote last night. This way we can stick Alexei at SS and Richar 2b next season.

QUOTE (Athomeboy_2000 @ May 27, 2008 -> 09:02 AM) I have no doubt in my mind that when Uribe is healthy, he'll be back at 2B. THat is just how Ozzie works. I hate Uribe

Should Konerko be put on the DL to heal his thumb?

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ May 27, 2008 -> 07:56 AM) I don't know if it will last or not, but Konerko hit the ball harder last night than he has in a while. If he can hit like that, he will be fine. Ozzie was quoted saying the same thing about Konerko. The hardest he has hit the ball in long time. -
QUOTE (VAfan @ May 27, 2008 -> 08:47 AM) Living in VA, I don't get to see that many games. Just WGN and national broadcasts. But I did see some of the West Coast games, and two of the home games against the Angels, and Ramirez really looked good to me. He seems like he's starting to lay off the breaking balls in the dirt, while he's smoking the balls he can reach. The Angels made some very nice defensive plays on him. I see no need for Uribe on the team. I guess he's better defensive insurance than Ozuna if Cabrera got hurt, but is that worth a roster spot? Having a pinch runner seems more valuable. Does Getz have a lot of speed? He seems like a well rounded player. Utility role?

QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ May 27, 2008 -> 07:42 AM) Alexei also blew a hit-and-run last night. He's still got a lot of learning to do, but he does have a lot of talent. The White Sox seem to have a plethora of 2nd base talent that will be ready in 2009 - Ramirez, Richar, Getz... but none of them are really ready THIS year. I'd still like to see the Sox make an offer for Durham, who is an FA after this season so he's just a rental, if the team is still in it come July. I'd think that a deal involving one of Richar or Getz and one or two pitching prospects would be workable, given the rental situation and the Giants' desire to rebuild. SS, 2b, and utility are all open next season. Ramirez is our SS next season and Richar our 2b.

May Totals: AB 42 SLG .405 AVG .286 To go along with some solid defense Pretty good and looking for him to improve. Does he start when Uribe comes back in a week?

per ESPN insider • Plenty of GMs were on hand at the SEC tournament, with Theo Epstein, Kevin Towers and Kenny Williams all making appearances. Williams also showed up at the ACC tournament on Saturday. The White Sox are rumored to be leaning towards either Georgia shortstop Gordon Beckham, who went 1-for-6 with a walk and three strikeouts in Georgia's two-and-out run, or Arizona State third baseman Brett Wallace for the No. 8 overall pick.

I find it odd that we brought up outfielder when we are short on infielders. -

Getz 4 for 4 with a homerun today. Any chance they bring him up when Richar back in Charlotte? See Getz works out. If not bring Richar up. -

QUOTE (WCSox @ May 11, 2008 -> 12:08 PM) True. But fortunately, we can't say the same for Anderson yet. I'm really hoping that he builds off of what he's done over the past couple of weeks. If he can hit reasonably well over the long haul, he should be our starting CF next this year. -
QUOTE (South Side Fireworks Man @ May 11, 2008 -> 11:56 AM) Dye is hot right now and just had a few days off because of injury. I'd hope he's DHing today. Let Thome sit again. If I was manager, Thome would be on the bench today
