  1. I have to give credit to Hahn for being accountable and not hiding from the media. He's good at articulating his decision making process, even if it doesn't work out. To be honest, I think most fans were correct to think this team would contend deep into September. It didn't work out. If Kenny and Buddy leave, I'm still on Hahn's side to preside over a real rebuild.
  2. Well, the pressure is a certainly off now. Hopefully he can relax a little more out there, make his pitches and throw more strikes. 6.2, 3 ER (2 on solo homers) Sox lose 3-1, naturally
  3. QUOTE (BlackSox13 @ Jun 20, 2015 -> 10:46 AM) This could turn into a late afternoon/evening start if the weather radar holds up. Lots of rain expected. Looks like what is out west is breaking up. The bad stuff could be late tonight.
  4. QUOTE (glangon @ Jun 20, 2015 -> 10:43 AM) Today the offense, defense and pen screw over Rodon. That would imply Rodon throws well, so that's good. Might as well get to ten games before going on the road to Minnesota and Detroit. Let's see how bad this could get!

  6. QUOTE (GreenSox @ Jun 20, 2015 -> 08:49 AM) For 2016: Sale, Shark, Danks, Johnson, Rodon (although he's nowhere near ready) looks like the most probable if they sign Shark (which I wouldn't do for #2 money). Danish is getting slaughtered in AA ball. Montas isnt' ready. Fulmer isn't even signed and has command issues and if the Sox value him at all, they need to take their time and smooth out his delivery. Wouldn't surprise me if Dotson straightens Drabek out. I'm really intrigued by Drabek too. Hope that could work out. I hope Fulmer stays in the minors all year in 2016 (maybe a Sept call up). They don't need to rush him at all. It would be stupid to count on him for 2016.
  7. QUOTE (dpd9189 @ Jun 20, 2015 -> 08:43 AM) I like Hahn and I think he knows what has to be done but the question is will the Sox let him do it. The Sox have always been very stubborn when it comes to the "R" word but what they've been doing is clearly not working. I said it this past week but this team needs to follow the Northsiders' lead and do a full scale rebuild. It won't be pretty but if you look at the Cubs now they're a team on the rise with bright future and money to spend. If the Sox start this asap they can maybe be competitive again before Sale hits Free Agency in 2020. They have some nice young arms to build around in Sale, Q, Rodon and Fulmer but they have nothing aside from Abreu as far as position players go and that needs to change. It's not so much "do what the Cubs did", but what's going on all over baseball. If you're not producing your own major league talent, you're going to lose. It's that simple. Teams need to have a balance of young position players and pitchers that come up and know how to play the game and then get better, and then add on when the time is right.
  8. Lot of games today. Arizona starts play. Scoreboard http://www.milb.com/scoreboard/index.jsp?c...mp;ymd=20150620 Arizona roster http://www.milb.com/roster/index.jsp?sid=milb&cid=1997 Jesse Crain listed as a rehab guy, although I'm not sure that means he's ready to throw in games.
  9. QUOTE (BigHurt3515 @ Jun 19, 2015 -> 10:44 PM) I understand but don't demote for the thing you knew he was bad at from the beginning. Why even start him with the MLB team to begin with? He was hitting .270 and getting on base more than most on the team from the 9 spot. They tried to get away with him batting 9th, thinking the other guys with track records would do their thing. Once it became clear that they needed to win games more with pitching and defense, they had to try Sanchez.
  10. QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 19, 2015 -> 10:43 PM) Which goes back to the inability of this organization to develop anyone on the offensive side. That's where I hope Reinsdorf sees the light finally, and allows some major changes with scouting and instruction.
  11. QUOTE (BigHurt3515 @ Jun 19, 2015 -> 10:39 PM) Also I am not really happy how they gave up on Micah pretty quick to start the season. They knew in the beginning his defense wasn't good and they demote him for his defense being bad? Come on At the time Sanchez was raking in AAA. It wasn't a bad move considering how bad Johnson was defensively. He was terrible.
  12. I'm a Hahn fan. If by some miracle, he's left without Kenny and Buddy around him, I wouldn't mind if he was in charge of an organizational rebuild.
  13. Hey--guess what, kids? If the A's win, the Sox will have the worst record in the AL on June 19.
  14. QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Jun 19, 2015 -> 10:18 PM) https://twitter.com/ChuckGarfien/status/612096913538576388 It's clear with Eaton last night, and Sale tonight, they're taking their frustrations out on the media. They're pissed off with themselves and their teammates. Period.
  15. QUOTE (greg775 @ Jun 19, 2015 -> 10:11 PM) Why did he leave, though. Normally they give the media a chance to get warmed up. No, it was a normal session. They ask. He answers. When the questions stop, he goes.
  16. I saw the Ventura postgame comments. Was fine to me. He answered the questions asked. Nobody kept asking. He left. You may disagree with what he said, but he was professional after the game.
  17. QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 19, 2015 -> 09:49 PM) Don't care about wins/losses, but looking to see if there's more of a spark and improvement in fundamentals. It's worth a shot, as nothing positive is happening with the team right now in general. That's fair enough, and I agree. But it seems like some people are thinking a change in manager means the Sox are trying to get back in it this season. And that's just crazy talk. This team is going to lose close to 90 or higher with any manager.
  18. QUOTE (greg775 @ Jun 19, 2015 -> 09:42 PM) Buddy Bell will be the interim manager, you wait. And that will be a very very bad thing. It won't be Bell, and it wouldn't matter anyway. Say they fire Ventura tonight... Are you actually looking at results the rest of the season? Of course not.
  19. We're a thorn in the Astros side this year. Terrible team. At this point, hopefully we'll be better off in the long run if this continues to get worse. The front office needs to be slapped in the face. Keep losing.
  20. B'ham PPD. Michalczewski still out.
  21. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 19, 2015 -> 02:33 PM) Unfortunately, with the way they're pitching right now, they don't exactly have the look of "team that really needs to add a starting pitcher". We'll see in a month. I'm not advocating "trade Sale now", but I certainly wouldn't be against it if they found a good trade that could bring back close-to-major league ready talent.
  22. There's a team that just left town, that could potentially match up pretty well with the Sox. Glasnow, McGuire, Meadows, Bell, Hanson are pretty good Pirates prospects, and they have a real shot at the World Series this season.
  23. QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Jun 19, 2015 -> 12:11 PM) Wow I'm actually with Dick Allen on this I think. And I think the White Sox kind of agree. They are going to trade some guys and possibly fire Todd Steverson. That will probably be it though. That may be it for the rest of the season, and I'm ok with that. But there's no way Robin and this coaching staff should return in 2016.
  24. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jun 19, 2015 -> 12:04 PM) You would have easily said the same thing about Tony LaRussa in 1986. Yet he still gets mentioned. Hawk still gets crap for firing him. Bobby Cox, Joe Torre, when they managed bad teams they had a bad record. If firing the manager or the hitting coach or the video guy or whatever made the White Sox win more games, fine. If it is just to appease meathead fans who won't go to games anyways, and the losing will continue so they will just move on to their next target, it makes no sense. You need to start living in reality. Ventura took the job as a favor because it was for the White Sox. His last game managing for the Sox will be his last game as a manager, period. If he even interviews for a managerial position ever again, I would be surprised.
