  1. Montas starting game 2. 2 k's in the first inn.
  2. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Jun 26, 2014 -> 01:33 PM) Zero excuses? 2-3 years Thank you.
  3. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 26, 2014 -> 12:58 PM) Welcome to rebuilding. Odds are we are talking 2015 or 2016 at the earliest. You can stomp your feet all you want, but at the end of the day, this is a team that is reshaping its roster. We are probably lucky that we didn't trade everyone and make this at least a half of a decade process instead of 2-3 years. I know what the Sox are doing. I approve of what the Sox are doing. Do...you...understand...that?
  4. It's going to be interesting to see what Anderson and Hawkins can do in AA next year.
  5. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 26, 2014 -> 12:49 PM) It's called rebuilding. Pretty much the entire fanbase wanted exactly that. Now that is being held against the organization? You're missing the point. It's amazing how many Sox apologists are on this board. Nothing the Sox do can be wrong. Again---what year do the training wheels come off (yes, I know this will take a couple years), and excuses and bad managers can't be an excuse? 2016? 2017? Or will it just be--blame a couple bullpen arms---oh well---4th and 5th in the division again...try next year.
  6. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Jun 26, 2014 -> 12:42 PM) I would ask in reply, on April 1st, did you feel that year was 2014? Of course not. I don't even think it's 2015 unless everything goes right. I'm just tired of the Sox having excuses, because they always have them. What year starts the clock on "no excuses, it's time to win"? What year does Robin take an 85-win talent team, and make them an 88-win team because he's a good manager?
  7. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Jun 26, 2014 -> 12:25 PM) If you are looking at a discussion as who wins and who loses, you've already missed the point. Its a rebuild with a s***ty team thats been bitten by the injury bug all over the roster. Blaming the manager is moronic IMO. So let me ask you this-- what year starts the "no excuses, it's time to win a division or a wildcard spot"? And I'm not saying Sale and Abreu get injured and we still expect to win. I'm saying the Sox could lose Jones and Lindstrom in the same year, and the Sox would have reserves. What's the time frame for no excuses?
  8. The rebuild is a good thing and long overdue, but Ventura is a still a joke of a manager. Two separate things going on. I guess the proof will be in the results from 2016-2020, but if they don't win 88+ most of those years, I'm sure we'll find some excuses that makes it ok.
  9. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Jun 26, 2014 -> 12:11 PM) So how many wins is "maximizing" what they have? Many of their recent losses is due to a s***ty bullpen that lost its 1 and 2 guys. See, this is an argument that isn't winnable, so congratulations, you win. There's always a built-in excuse with the White Sox.
  10. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Jun 26, 2014 -> 11:48 AM) SO you agree this roster could be producing better results? They could play smarter. It's not a winning team, but I don't think they're maximizing what they do have.
  11. I think defining a bad baseball manager is like defining pornography....I can't define it in words, but I know it when I see it. Robin Ventura is a terrible manager. It's just going to take time to work itself out...like a few years.
  12. QUOTE (BigHurt3515 @ Jun 26, 2014 -> 11:37 AM) They brought him up?? Yes, it's part of the whole "Beck starting for Charlotte" thing.
  13. Chris Beck starting for Charlotte tonight.
  14. When it comes to Cooper, I think he's great with the mechanics of teaching pitchers, and adding pitches to a repertoire...and instilling confidence. But I don't want him deciding to "bring in this guy/take this guy out", all of the time. He should give Robin information going into the game, and the manager should make decisions during the game. If Coop is pulling all of the strings during the game, that's just bad for the team.
  15. http://www.milb.com/scoreboard/index.jsp?c...mp;ymd=20140626 Winston-Salem suspended game resumed.
  16. https://twitter.com/whitesox/status/482184757820653568 Surkamp up. Shocking development.

  18. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 26, 2014 -> 09:16 AM) No announcement has officially been made yet. Even the Downs being gone part is still speculation. Coop was on the Score. He basically confirmed it.
  19. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jun 26, 2014 -> 09:14 AM) I couldn't imagine it being a trade. I agree. His career ended in Baltimore last night.
  20. Robin Ventura will never be fired. There will be a mutual parting of the ways--probably in few years. He's Point A to Point B Guy.
  21. QUOTE (StRoostifer @ Jun 26, 2014 -> 09:01 AM) And he's getting it again. He's only 21, there's no rush, he'll sign. Patience. Also keep in mind he will need some time in the minors for his body to adjust to pitching every fifth start so let's not put the Sox uni on him just yet. With the Sox out of it now, push Rodon's clock as late as possible next year. Then hope for 160 starts from 2016-2020, and see what happens---keep him for 2021 if the Sox are good, or trade him for prospects, since he's a Boras client.
  22. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 26, 2014 -> 08:20 AM) I was only asking because IIRC Heath is on the 40 man but Surkamp is not, so the Sox would need an open spot to call up the lefty. If it took until Downs was released to clear the spot that could have been a problem. Other way around. It'll be Surkamp.
  23. Heath pitched 6 innings yesterday, so that would make no sense. Has to be Surkamp.
  24. I recall a lot of people liked the signing. He sucked. Oh well. Enjoy retirement.
