Dickey 50 pitches through 4. Anything is possible with this offense.

2014 Minor League catch all thread
Sox sign Daniel McCutchen to a minor league deal. The revolving door keeps spinning.

Who do you most want to keep after the Core 4?
QUOTE (Jerksticks @ Jun 27, 2014 -> 04:28 PM) I too think Alexei is the only player that could really fetch us a few serious pieces. I love him, shortstop is hard to fill, but he's just too old and at absolute peak value. Trade him yesterday for a stud RH starter. We need Alexei to get hot for a few weeks. I'm hoping he and Beckham are gone in five weeks, but wouldn't be surprised if the Sox got nothing done before the non-waiver deadline.

2014 Minor League catch all thread
QUOTE (Bruce_Blixton @ Jun 27, 2014 -> 10:50 AM) That was quick, I guess they don't think Beck is ready for AAA after all. The Sox needed Charlie Leesman to start a game this year. It was like that.

Jose Abreu general discussion
QUOTE (lasttriptotulsa @ Jun 27, 2014 -> 10:39 AM) Personally I feel that Sox fans have always overrated Konerko. Top 2% of all time. 6-time all-star ALCS MVP I think he's been fairly rated, and he deserves his number retirement.

When do you fire Robin?

When do you fire Robin?
I will say this--I'd rather judge Robin as a manager with the following guys gone: De Aza, Viciedo, Dunn, Konerko, Beckham, and Flowers.

2014 White Sox draft pick thread
I'd rather have Rodon's six full years be ages 23-28, than 22-27. Have him on the opening day roster when the Sox are more ready to win, which 2016 could be--and better be beyond.

When do you fire Robin?
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 26, 2014 -> 12:58 PM) Welcome to rebuilding. Odds are we are talking 2015 or 2016 at the earliest. You can stomp your feet all you want, but at the end of the day, this is a team that is reshaping its roster. We are probably lucky that we didn't trade everyone and make this at least a half of a decade process instead of 2-3 years. I know what the Sox are doing. I approve of what the Sox are doing. Do...you...understand...that?

It's going to be interesting to see what Anderson and Hawkins can do in AA next year.

When do you fire Robin?
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 26, 2014 -> 12:49 PM) It's called rebuilding. Pretty much the entire fanbase wanted exactly that. Now that is being held against the organization? You're missing the point. It's amazing how many Sox apologists are on this board. Nothing the Sox do can be wrong. Again---what year do the training wheels come off (yes, I know this will take a couple years), and excuses and bad managers can't be an excuse? 2016? 2017? Or will it just be--blame a couple bullpen arms---oh well---4th and 5th in the division again...try next year.

When do you fire Robin?
QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Jun 26, 2014 -> 12:42 PM) I would ask in reply, on April 1st, did you feel that year was 2014? Of course not. I don't even think it's 2015 unless everything goes right. I'm just tired of the Sox having excuses, because they always have them. What year starts the clock on "no excuses, it's time to win"? What year does Robin take an 85-win talent team, and make them an 88-win team because he's a good manager?

When do you fire Robin?
QUOTE (RockRaines @ Jun 26, 2014 -> 12:25 PM) If you are looking at a discussion as who wins and who loses, you've already missed the point. Its a rebuild with a s***ty team thats been bitten by the injury bug all over the roster. Blaming the manager is moronic IMO. So let me ask you this-- what year starts the "no excuses, it's time to win a division or a wildcard spot"? And I'm not saying Sale and Abreu get injured and we still expect to win. I'm saying the Sox could lose Jones and Lindstrom in the same year, and the Sox would have reserves. What's the time frame for no excuses?
-
When do you fire Robin?
The rebuild is a good thing and long overdue, but Ventura is a still a joke of a manager. Two separate things going on. I guess the proof will be in the results from 2016-2020, but if they don't win 88+ most of those years, I'm sure we'll find some excuses that makes it ok.

When do you fire Robin?
QUOTE (RockRaines @ Jun 26, 2014 -> 12:11 PM) So how many wins is "maximizing" what they have? Many of their recent losses is due to a s***ty bullpen that lost its 1 and 2 guys. See, this is an argument that isn't winnable, so congratulations, you win. There's always a built-in excuse with the White Sox.

When do you fire Robin?
QUOTE (RockRaines @ Jun 26, 2014 -> 11:48 AM) SO you agree this roster could be producing better results? They could play smarter. It's not a winning team, but I don't think they're maximizing what they do have.

When do you fire Robin?
I think defining a bad baseball manager is like defining pornography....I can't define it in words, but I know it when I see it. Robin Ventura is a terrible manager. It's just going to take time to work itself out...like a few years.

When do you fire Robin?
When it comes to Cooper, I think he's great with the mechanics of teaching pitchers, and adding pitches to a repertoire...and instilling confidence. But I don't want him deciding to "bring in this guy/take this guy out", all of the time. He should give Robin information going into the game, and the manager should make decisions during the game. If Coop is pulling all of the strings during the game, that's just bad for the team.
