QUOTE (greg775 @ Jul 3, 2014 -> 04:57 PM) It's weird to have a starter as good as sale on a last place team. It begs the question ... why should Sale pitch this September if we are still way out of the race? Isn't it dumb to pitch him much until the season we can contend? Just asking, but what does the team have to prove sending him out there the last 4-6 weeks if we are buried in the standings? Sox aren't selling tickets this season, so ... explain it to me. He's a major league starting pitcher getting paid to make 32-33 starts a season. Unless he's actually injured, make the starts. He could impact the Royals making the wildcard the last weekend of the season. I'd like to see that, and that's what he's here for.
  3. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Jul 3, 2014 -> 04:16 PM) I basically view the we versus they thing as "did I realistically help the team accomplish their goals?" That answer is no. Really, it doesn't bother me that much, but I prefer "they" versus "we." When people say "we signed Abreu!" I think it's goofy because it's like "no, 'we' didn't do s*** to sign Abreu," but I'm not going to ever make a big deal out of it. Agreed about the context angle. I might say "we need a hit here", or "we need an out now", but the blanket "we" about everything White Sox, no.

As a starting point for the All Star game, I would begin with any pitcher with 100+ innings and an ERA under 3.00. Felix Kluber Tanaka Buehrle Lester Richards Darvish Keuchel Kazmir Sale will probably make it though. People pitch on Sunday's or have injuries.

Looking at the radar for Myrtle Beach...uh, no way they have a game tonight.
  6. QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Jul 3, 2014 -> 11:33 AM) Hawkins placed on the DL with a concussion. Sox can't catch a break in the show and the minors. Jeez. So no Hawkins or Anderson tonight on TV. I've seen Keenyn Walker!
  7. Downs has been officially released.

Myrtle Beach team expects to play tonight. Storm may stay away. Looking forward to seeing Wendelken pitch, and hopefully Hawkins is ok to play.

http://www.milb.com/scoreboard/index.jsp?c...mp;ymd=20140703 The Winston-Salem game is supposed to be on CBS Sports Network at 7pm. There's a chance a tropical storm will not make that possible.
  10. Not specific to this board, but I hate when baseball people are talking about a specific player, and they refer to him as "The Player". Just say his name.

Video of the Hawkins play that hurt him http://www.milb.com/multimedia/vpp.jsp?content_id=34252107 Great effort, but man...
  12. I can see this ending badly.
  13. Win it. I want to go to bed.
  14. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jul 2, 2014 -> 09:47 PM) I love listening to Melton. He calls Putnam Putman. Rongey says Putnam wrong. I mean, how do you mess that name up?
  15. QUOTE (Feeky Magee @ Jul 2, 2014 -> 09:29 PM) Over/under on Tyler's end of season average? .205? With about the same amount of at bat the rest of the season, he would have to be a .180 hitter to get down to .205. Under.
  16. When was Danks supposed to come out?
  17. QUOTE (Joshua Strong @ Jul 2, 2014 -> 09:11 PM) I want to ask this to you guys as Connor is at the plate. If Davidson continues on the tear he is on at Charlotte, do you call him up to be the guy at third. What do you do with Connor? Depends on if they can somehow trade Dunn. If he goes, they can DH Gillaspie and probably put him at 1B too. For now, I'm glad Davidson is hitting some in AAA. Maybe in 4 weeks, he'll be ready.
  18. They're talking about parity, but 15 teams have less than a 20% chance of making the playoffs, including the second wildcard.
  19. 6 outs to get. No problem. :eyeroll:
  20. The difference between the worst team (D-backs) and the 12th worst team (Sox), is four games. Pretty amazing the difference is that small past the half way point.

Davidson hitting .315 since June 16.
