  1. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Apr 6, 2014 -> 01:51 PM) No matter what happens, think they will give Flowers at least two months before throwing in the towel. We've seen this show before. With both of them. Phegley's not a big leaguer. Just pointing out what's going on.
  2. Axelrod off to a good start. I think they said in spring he changed his mechanics a little bit. I know he's a whipping boy around here, but the Sox need a long reliever in the pen. If he puts up 3-4 good starts, and the pen still sucks, I wouldn't mind him coming back in May. --- Barnum RBI single Davidson 2 RBI doubles Phegley is swinging a hot bat.
  3. QUOTE (Bigsoxhurt35 @ Apr 6, 2014 -> 12:25 PM) I'll gladly take 3-3 after the first week. Yep. But more than anything, I want to see fundamentals by the players in the field, and pitchers throwing strikes. For today, let's see a Sale shutout and an Abreu bomb, and call it a day.
  4. QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Apr 6, 2014 -> 11:14 AM) Didn't he play the end of the season at Birmingham as an 18 year old in his first season? I don't think it's unrealistic that he thought he had a chance to get back there. I think it's unrealistic. But I'm not a teenager. No in 2012 he was in Kannapolis, and they moved him to W-S for their playoffs, and he was very good. Unfortunately, it didn't turn out to be a good assignment last year.
  5. QUOTE (southside hitman @ Apr 6, 2014 -> 11:07 AM) Laughable he's "eyeing" AA after three games, he was completely overmatched by High A all last season. I would be fine with him staying in Winston-Salem for the majority of the season. If he's tearing it up and they want to give him a taste of Birmingham for the playoffs or something, that's a different story. He doesn't deserve/need a promotion until then. That article was from January. He was talking about last year. I would hope they've managed his expectations at this point. It should be a year-by-year thing at this point. Hell, he's 20. If they can make his first opening day with the Sox in 2017 at age 23, what would be wrong with that? I would be ecstatic if they turn him around, and he ends up being an impact major league player.
  6. That triple by Anderson. Oh my god. Hawkins--whatever he's doing, keep it up. Hopefully these guys play 135 games together and move it on up to Birmingham next year.
  7. Beckham not playing again tonight.
  8. QUOTE (raBBit @ Apr 5, 2014 -> 02:03 PM) 3/4 at bats he has done so. Doesn't want his coffee to get cold on the bench.
  9. Hawk Harrelson Superlatives. They never end.
  10. Cold, crappy days-- 4 hour games Nice day- 2:10
  11. After last year, they should be taking infield practice almost everyday.
  12. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Apr 5, 2014 -> 01:39 PM) So we have both the tiniest CF, tiniest catcher and tiniest 3B coach? Does Eddie Gaedel have any family members surviving? And Leury's not exactly Captain America/Puig, either. He's 6'3", but yes he does. http://www.baseball-reference.com/minors/p...id=gaedel001kyl
  13. Two months from tonight. Big arm.
  14. Beckham is in the Dunn and Konerko category. Just assume they're part of the team the rest of the season, and then they'll be gone. The roster starting in 2015 is what it's going to be about for the next postseason team.
  15. https://twitter.com/whitesox/status/4524584...2190592/photo/1 Nieto starting. Abreu 3rd. Gillaspie 5th. Avi sitting. Viciedo batting 4th.
  16. https://twitter.com/jjcoop36/status/452258043817127936 Grain of salt. Some of his big league camp at bats were ugly.
  17. Hawkins adds a single. Hello!
  18. Gausman walked Jared Mitchell twice. Last good chance for Mitchell this year...hope he keeps it going.
  19. Good first start for Danish. 5 IP, 4 h, 2 unearned runs, 2 BB, 6 K
  20. Danish- 4 inn--5 ground outs, 4 K's
  21. QUOTE (Soxfest @ Apr 4, 2014 -> 06:55 PM) Tanaka first batter see ya HR. Saw that. Good stuff. Struck out Bautista and Encarnacion. He'll be good.
