  1. QUOTE (Greg Hibbard @ Aug 7, 2012 -> 12:32 PM) Why do you think the Angels win 90? They've been 9-12 since the break - and they have a brutal last 6 weeks of their schedule. I can't see them going 11 over down that stretch. Every series is either on the road or at home vs. a contender from late August on, except for 1 september series against SEA. I hear you, and maybe the Rays and Angels only end up with 88-89 wins. I just think with that starting pitching, the Angels are eventually going to peel off a 16-4 stretch. As far as the Sox, I just want them to get to 91 wins. If they win the division, great. If that's not enough for the division, then tip your cap to the Tigers.
  2. I'm bumping that 89 for the second wild card up to 90. I think the Sox, Tigers, Angels, Rangers, and Yankees will all win over 90 games.
  3. Verlander's schedule sets up this way: 8-11 at Tex 8-17 vs Bal 8-23 vs Tor 8-28 at KC 9-2 vs Sox 9-8 at LAA 9-13 at Sox 9-19 vs Oak 9-24 vs KC 9-29 at Min Make no mistake, he'll be there for a division tie-breaker, or Wild Card game if they need it. It would be in the Sox best interest to win the division in 162 games.

  8. Giants got Jose Mijares from KC. Won't have to worry about him out of the pen the rest of the season.
  9. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Aug 6, 2012 -> 02:53 PM) Liriano to pitch Saturday, Sale on Sunday. 5 days rest for each, so not unexpected. Let's see if they actually pitch Sale on August 17 with 4 days rest. My guess is another 6th starter game sometime between Aug 15-17.
  10. Hosmer is batting 7th. What the hell happened? He killed it in spring training too.

Walt got diagnosed with cancer a year ago. Seems longer. I lol'd.
  12. Danks surgery...no big damage. See you in February.
  13. QUOTE (Wedge @ Aug 5, 2012 -> 09:30 PM) There's 45 games left. We can't afford to piss away 7 of them with a Humber start. Downside is that there's only 3 off days in those final 45 games. 55 games left. I'm not a fan of a 6-man, but the extra day seems to be good for Sale. They don't need a 6th starter until August 15 because of the off day Thursday, but if it's just for Sale, then let's see if they actually go through with Sale starting on 4 days rest on August 17. They say they're not using a 6th starter, but I bet they do to give Sale an extra day.
  14. Astros are 11-46 on the road this year. Two of their road wins....uh...yeah... How bad will they be in the AL West next year? 120 losses?

  16. Tigers season in review at the 108-game mark: Sox 7-4 Cle 5-7 KC 7-1 Min 5-4 AL Central: 24-16 Bal 2-1 Bos 5-5 NY 2-4 TB 5-2 Tor 1-2 AL East: 15-14 LAA 3-1 Oak 2-2 Sea 1-5 Tex 2-5 AL West: 8-13 Pit 3-3 Col 2-1 Stl 2-1 Cin 2-1 Cubs 2-1 Interleague: 11-7 Home: 31-21 Away: 27-29 Total: 58-50 What they have left, and the record they should have: Home-Away-Total: Sox 3-4-7 (4-3) Cle 3-3-6 (4-2) KC 4-6-10 (7-3) Min 3-6-9 (6-3) Bal 3-0-3 (2-1) NY 4-0-4 (2-2) Tor 3-0-3 (2-1) LAA 3-3-6 (3-3) Oak 3-0-3 (2-1) Tex 0-3-3 (1-2) 29 home/25 road If they match these records, they go 33-21 the final 54 for 91 wins. It would be good if the Sox win the series in Detroit.
  17. Royals come to town feeling good about walking off the Rangers. Sox have to go 4-2 this week, minimum. Hopefully the Tigers go 3-4 or worse. 3 game lead a week from now would be nice.
  18. QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 5, 2012 -> 04:31 PM) I'm pretty happy with being up 1.5 after this weekend though. 2.5 would have made for a great day, but like flavum keeps saying, Sox just need to worry about themselves and get to 90 wins. Also, it doesn't hurt to pick up a game this weekend on the main wild card contender. It's basically a race to 20-over .500. The team that gets there and maintains it, wins the division.
  19. Great win, but the Chris Perez implosion still pisses me off. He won't have to worry about begging fans to come.
  20. Tigers at the 2/3 mark with a 58-50 record. They'll go at least 32-22 for 90 wins. Sox have a loong way to go.
  21. Hawk brought some frustration to the park with him today.
  22. QUOTE (Noonskadoodle @ Aug 5, 2012 -> 03:30 PM) Tribe just brought in Josh Tomlin in the bottom of the 9th? Oh geez If it gets to Cabrera, he'll end it.
