  1. Don't hold me to this, but the Sox may miss both Sabathia and Kuroda.
  2. Yankees/Tigers in a delay. They'll be there all day if they have to. They only share 9/17 as an off day. That would mean the Tigers play 27 games in a row without a day off to finish the season.
  3. QUOTE (BigEdWalsh @ Aug 9, 2012 -> 10:39 AM) Great to see that Trayce has reached .250 and Walker got his 50th SB of the season. Wow. Good for Thompson. The K's suck, but he's up there leading the league in Homers and RBI's. I'm not big on prospect lists, but it will be interesting to see if he cracks some Top 100's this offseason.
  4. QUOTE (Wagz @ Aug 9, 2012 -> 10:53 AM) Well thats 2 big bats we dont have to pitch to for a 4 game set. The two 4-game series in Toronto and Baltimore really stand out as huge to me. We gotta take of care of business in Toronto--like 3 of 4. Too many bad years up there recently.
  5. Sneaky-huge series this weekend: F: McCarthy vs Floyd S: Milone vs Liriano S: Parker vs Sale Toronto series, if they don't use a 6th starter: M: Peavy vs Villanueva T: Quintana vs Alvarez W: Floyd vs Romero Th: Sale vs Laffey And guess what? We'll probably get Mendoza, Chen and Guthrie next weekend too.
  6. Only 3 off days after Thursday. Maybe a couple days for Rios and Konerko will help. We'll see if they even play tonight.
  7. They better get this in tonight. KC has a game tomorrow, and if they have to play a doubleheader it'll be in September right before the Tigers series.
  8. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Aug 8, 2012 -> 12:28 PM) Chicago White Sox ‏@whitesox #WhiteSox GM Ken Williams on a live telephone chat speaks about Rio and Dunn: "Robin has put Rios in a position to success...." "He's comfortable where he is in the order. Dunn is 1 of the best on base percentages that we have. Let's not be the ones 2 mess this up." Dunn since May 30: Batting .180, with a .303 OBP. The homers and RBI's have been good though. Rios will be on base if he bats 3rd. Rios since May 29: Batting .350, with a .363 OBP. Why not try it for a week? See how it goes. It shouldn't be that big of deal to slightly change a lineup.
  9. If the Sox come up 1 or 2 games short of the postseason, is it fair to criticize Robin for not adjusting when things need a change? Such as sticking with Morel in the 2-hole way too long, having Santiago close out of spring training, not batting Rios-Dunn-Konerko 3-4-5, taking Sale out of the rotation abruptly in May, and pulling Quintana from a 1-0 game in LA with only 77 pitches? I may forgive him for the last one, but there have been some management mistakes this year that may cause Kenny to come up short making the playoffs again.
  10. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Aug 8, 2012 -> 11:00 AM) DKnobler ‏@DKnobler Rangers announce they've released Yorvit Torrealba. Already had been DFA, and they had tried unsuccessfully to trade him. Get him, Kenny. Send Flowers down for 3 weeks.
  11. QUOTE (Caesar @ Aug 7, 2012 -> 09:56 PM) KC is 4-4 against the Sox this year, 1-7 against the Tigers. That just may be the difference in this division. Sox are 5-1 against the Mariners. Tigers are 1-5. Same deal. How about the Tigers are 7-4 against the Sox. That may be more important.
  12. Win tomorrow night, hopefully with De Aza and youkilis in the lineup, and move on. This was not a good game.
  13. Ok let's put up a 4-spot and put this ugliness behind us.
  14. QUOTE (chw42 @ Aug 7, 2012 -> 08:15 PM) That chart they showed of the Sox through the last 54 and the first 54 is very interesting. Everything was pretty much identical. But then again, with a 54 game sample size, a lot of stuff should be fairly identical. First 54: 478-1852 (.258) 260 runs 77 doubles 11 triples 69 homers 253 rbis Second 54: 478-1852 (.258) 254 runs 78 doubes 11 triples 67 homers 246 rbis BTW, Dunn in games 55-108, only a .308 OBP, hitting .188.
  15. Dempster 6 shutout innings so far in Boston.
  16. The Royals haven't been Peavy's favorite team to face in his career. ERA almost at 5 over 10 starts. But throw that out tonight. 7-8 innings. 3 runs or less.
  17. QUOTE (whitesox901 @ Aug 7, 2012 -> 01:14 PM) I don't know if Detroit wins 90. They went 33-21 from Games 55-108. If they match it, 91 wins. Plus that final 19 games for them...is anyone going to be surprised if they go 15-4?
  18. Birmingham faces our old buddy David Holmberg tonight.
  19. QUOTE (Cali @ Aug 7, 2012 -> 01:05 PM) Also, the Sox need to have at least one or two sweeps in there to have a good chance. Lots of chances too with Minny, Seattle, KC and Cleveland... Definitely would like to see the Sox sweep some team and not *have* to beat the Yankees 2/3. And of course, going into Detroit and winning a series would go a long way to winning the division.
  20. QUOTE (Greg Hibbard @ Aug 7, 2012 -> 01:01 PM) Tigers/Yanks series needs to have one less game and their current record is 59-50. It's an equal amount of games. The final third of the season.
  21. Let's use this to track the final 54 games for each team, taking strength of schedule in consideration. Sox vs KC 1-1 (0-2) -1 vs Oak 2-1 at Tor 2-2 at KC 2-1 vs NY 2-1 vs Sea 2-1 at Bal 2-2 at Det 1-2 vs Min 2-1 vs KC 2-1 vs Det 2-2 at Min 2-1 at KC 2-1 at LAA 1-2 vs Cle 2-1 vs TB 2-2 at Cle 2-1 Tigers vs NY 2-2 (2-2) E at Tex 1-2 at Min 2-1 vs Bal 2-1 vs Tor 2-1 vs LAA 2-1 at KC 2-1 vs Chi 2-1 vs Cle 2-1 at LAA 1-2 at Chi 2-2 at Cle 2-1 vs Oak 2-1 vs Min 2-1 vs KC 3-1 at Min 2-1 at KC 2-1
