QUOTE (Friend of Nordhagen @ Apr 24, 2008 -> 07:30 PM) Apparently, only the fans can see that Jermaine's been in decline out there for 2 years. Like the team's infatuation with Juan Uribe (and Mackowiak in center), I guess certain mysteries are only understood properly by Kenny Williams and Ozzie Guillen. Im under the assumption (or maybe the hope) that JD will be our DH when Thome is gone... Until then we'll just have to live with his below average defense.

QUOTE (CryptviLL @ Apr 24, 2008 -> 07:37 PM) Here in florida.. Hillsborough Community college for two years.. then transfering to either USF, UCF, FSU or something.. =o. (hopefully) Cool, one of my cousins went to FSU for law school... I was really impressed with the campus/town while I visited her. Nice college town feel.

QUOTE (WhiteSoxfan1986 @ Apr 23, 2008 -> 08:22 PM) He has the stuff, but he will never be a starter in this league. And technically he is a tick below Jenks. thats one rather large tick... Quentin! -

I love it when Hawk and DJ bring up Juan's 2004 run. How long can a player ride one hot streak? I think Juan is going for some kind of world record here... -

QUOTE (knightni @ Apr 23, 2008 -> 06:37 PM) 44 pitches through 2 innings. yeah, that sucks. Hopefully next inning we can get a couple quick outs to make up for it. -

Nice K! Good job only giving up 1 run considering what took place that inning. Now lets take it right back to them in the bottom of the inning... -
My mom has a hybrid and I've always been amazed at how quite it is. However, Im not sure that it'd make any more/less noise than my civic does while riding down the road. As mentioned before I think most of the noise made from engine cars are from the tires and wind (whether they be hybrid or not). I think it might be worth it for someone to do some real research into this though... couldn't hurt.

And as for the original poll - Im not sure that anything could be as bad as Beast. Whenever I try and drink it I can only last a beer or two before I lose all desire to continue drinking.

QUOTE (daa84 @ Apr 23, 2008 -> 10:44 AM) could be...theres certainly alot of chemicals that i had in organic chem lab that had to be stored in dark bottles because the light catalyzed some sort of reaction that altered it Yeah, I've always heard that skunky smelling beer was caused by light... I actually believe that the technical term for the defection that causes the smell is "light struck beer" - not sure on that one though, so dont quote me on it. Brown bottles are best at avoiding this problem and green/clear or the worst. Personal experience would make me agree with this statement, while I dont typically drink MGD or High Life (more a bud guy) I do run into skunky smells with Corona, Heineken, and Rolling Rock much more than I feel like I should. Edit: Here is an article that I found explaining a study at UNC over this topic http://www.eurekalert.org/pub_releases/200...c-ucf101701.php Seems that light breaks down the hops, them breaking down is responsible for the bad smell/taste. Hops also help control the bacteria levels in beer.

QUOTE (fathom @ Apr 22, 2008 -> 08:25 PM) That might be the best job I've seen by Dye getting behind a ball in his four years with the Sox. He showed off quite an arm too, nice to show it off at the start of a series... maybe it'll make someone think twice in the next couple games sometime. -

QUOTE (SoxFan562004 @ Apr 22, 2008 -> 02:40 PM) i think that's either in line with or the complete opposite of his career. If memory serves me right he has some crazy home/away splits This year his home/away splits are quite different (1.00 era on the road vs 5+ era at home), but thats only in 1 away start and two at home. Over the last three years his numbers are better at home (3.04) than away (4.62) - however, he is rocking a 2.65 era here at US Cellular in three starts (with a record of 2-0). This is probably our toughest pitching match up of the series, but I think we'll be able to put up some runs. Hopefully Jose can keep the Yanks to just a run or two tonight. Edit: as I gave his stats a second look, I noticed that US Cellular and the Metrodome seem to be his favorite places to pitch (at least according to his ERA). I think we need to change that tonight. -

QUOTE (Hanky Panky @ Apr 22, 2008 -> 01:21 PM) I think we have struggled against Wang in the past... correct? I believe that last year he went 2-0 against us here in Chicago. yep - others beat me to it. -

According to this bit on espn.com there still isnt any news on if ARod will be playing during the series opener tonight (or for that matter, be available for the rest of the series). He is going to be looked at again today to make the final decision. The Yanks' lineup looks a lot less scary with ARod out/hurting, the whole situation gives me a good feeling about this series. Go Sox! Go Contreras! -
QUOTE (jackie hayes @ Apr 22, 2008 -> 09:17 AM) No, you should see it. I love Clerks, but coming out of 2, the first thing I said was, I don't think it would be possible to make this movie worse. Clerks is just a completely different movie. See it, see it, see it. I second that, Clerks is a great, great movie. The second just doesn't do the first and justice at all. See the first, you wont be sorry.
