4/27 - SOX vs. BAL, 1:05 CT, CSN
southsidehawkeye replied to knightni's topic in 2008 Season in Review
love to see BA in CF again after his good night! I also like to see Ozuna and Ramirez in the lineup, every time one of them is in the lineup I hope they get hot and take 2B away from Uribe... maybe today is the day -
per the Whitesox homepage, Wassermann has been called up in place of MacDougal. Im glad I was wrong about this move being about bringing up Broadway as opposed to Wassermann. Wass will really help out this pen!

QUOTE (knightni @ Apr 26, 2008 -> 10:11 PM) I'm guessing Broadway gets a spot start, then Wassermann comes up. I second that... Giving Broadway a spot start is a better option than Masset IMO However, until I see otherwise I have to believe that this move is going to be very short term to bring up a Broadway for a spot start. Its not like MacDougal has been horrible this year... he has actually been doing much better than I would have thought. I hope Im wrong on this and that they will bring up Wassermann though... I never feel that good with Mac on the bump.

I'll take the day-split. Now lets go get another win tomorrow afternoon! Loved BA tonight, hopefully he worked his way into another start tomorrow.

No Bottled Water allowed in the UCF Dugouts?

QUOTE (knightni @ Apr 26, 2008 -> 09:20 AM) I segued from Vitamin Water to G2. So, of course G2's going to taste stronger to me. If you "down" regular Gatorade or regular pop a lot, then your palate is more attuned to the heavy high-fructose corn syrup in them. I have always been a water person myself, I never really liked Gatorade all that much... but I have started to buy G2 lately and I have really liked it (except the purple one, that one I would agree tastes like medicine). I think Knight is right, it all depends where you're coming from. -
Looks great! Edit: I like the visual presentation of the site, its well organized and not 'overdone'. I also like the feeds into the different forums, I know the other forums aren't quite to the level of Soxtalk yet... but as they become more and more popular this will be a great front page to see what the buzz is among Chicago fans. Doubly Edit: In case you're wondering, it seems to work great with Safari but doesn't load right with Firefox (on a mac). You seem to already be on top of the Firefox thing though.

4/26 Doubleheader Thread: Sox vs Orioles CSN, WGN
southsidehawkeye replied to knightni's topic in 2008 Season in Review
Danks is looking really good! and on another note, those lineups you guys are putting up are making me feel sick. They also make me sorta glad I was out of the country for a good part of last season, haha. -
QUOTE (fathom @ Apr 26, 2008 -> 11:20 AM) Maybe push Vazquez back to face the Twins instead of having it be Masset. When you have a game postponed like last night, it makes it so someone would have to go on 3 days rest. And since Buehrle is the one moving his start from yesterday to today, if you were going on a 'regular rotation' it would end up being him going on 3 days rest. For some reason I dont see that happening. There either has to be some changing up of the pitching order or Masset is going to have to take a start in there somewhere. If he doesn't end up seeing any action today I bet he takes the ball tomorrow.

QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Apr 25, 2008 -> 01:40 PM) Just curious, who would people prefer to have at $12 million, Joe Crede or Jermaine Dye? And furthermore, which contract would you find more favorable, the one that goes 2 years or the one that goes 4-5? Thats an interesting question. My answer would depend on how Quentin does the rest of this year as well as how Fields does in whatever time he gets up here this season (if any). If Quentin shows that he is for real (which I think most of us here believe he is at this point) I believe that he can be a perfectly fine replacement of Dye... he might be a little bit of a downgrade with the bat (at least average-wise) but he would be a big step up on the defensive side. With this option we could resign Crede and maybe even Cabrera and have an outfield of Fields (if they'll switch him to the OF) - Swisher - Quentin. To me, that is a very good looking team (you've got great defense on the left side of the infield and a really young hard hitting outfield). The other option includes keeping Dye but getting rid of Crede, so you'd end up with the same OF as this year and inserting Fields at 3B (again, possibly being able to keep Cabrera at SS). This would be fine if Crede becomes too expensive or if Quentin doesnt look like a replacement possibility for Dye's bat as the season goes on. But I just dont seem to get as excited about this option as the other. I think Dye is getting a little too old for the field and he is more and more likely to have all kinds of little injuries through the season that will keep him from being super-effective through another multi-year contract. anyways, those are my gut feelings on the matter... I think I like option A more (assuming that Quentin continues to look so promising).

QUOTE (Soxy @ Apr 25, 2008 -> 09:58 AM) Two pop to mind: Forces of Nature and Georgia Rule. Awful. Really awful. To add to that: Attack of the Puppet People http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0051381/ Assault of the Party Nerds (this one at least is supposed to be a comedy - but it is still horrible) http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0096839/ Worst movies I've ever seen, although because they were so bad... I actually was entertained.

Wow, me and my friends would tailgate at US Cellular all the time before we were 21 and never had any issues with security at all. They would even come over and talk to us sometimes, ask us if we were having a good time, and then tell us to "be careful" and "drive safe" (in a 'we know you're underage but not going to give you crap about it' kind of way).

QUOTE (daa84 @ Apr 24, 2008 -> 11:48 PM) its not a terrible idea, but thats a huge if....odds are crede wont be back...but even if he is, where does dye go? DH? Traded? either he or thome would have to be dealt My guess would be that if we were to go with that solution (Crede resigned and Fields in LF) Dye would be traded. IMO, its not a horrible move... puts Quentin in his natural position, keeps Crede's glove/clutch bat, and lets Fields' bat into the lineup. The team would have a very young and talented outfield (at least offense-wise) that could be together for a very long time. ...But i wouldn't bet any money on this being the 2009 Whitesox.

QUOTE (ptatc @ Apr 24, 2008 -> 09:18 PM) I think there is a little problem with MB's shoulder. They've been skipping him using the "keep his innings down" excuse. And I've noticed he lowers his arm angle a bit which is common with shoulder impairments. I don't know if it's serious but I wouldn't be surprised if we hear more about it this year. For the sake of everything holy, I hope you're wrong.
