  1. not sure i'll post much here... but just so i dont forget to post here. "i agree"
  2. Nice win! This pitching is unreal, I always had high hopes for Danks/Floyd but I never really thought that they'd look this good! hopefully they can keep it up.
  3. nice play there by Danks, I love having good defensive pitchers. Easy 1-2-3 inning for him with a grounder to Uribe for the last out, Danks looks like he has good stuff today
  4. QUOTE (max power @ Apr 20, 2008 -> 07:30 AM) That doesn't surprise me. Ribs take forever to heal, ask anyone who has broken theirs before. It hurts to cough, sneeze, laugh and sleep at night. They move too much to heal quickly. Yeah, I broke a rib skiing once... it seemed like it took the better part of a decade to heal. If there is a bright spot to this injury I'd say that at least its something that isnt likely to be a problem that pops up over and over, if he were out with an ankle or knee injury I'd be much more upset/worried about his future.
  5. QUOTE (TitoMB345 @ Apr 20, 2008 -> 12:39 AM) Funny, cause Danks pitched on 4/20 last year.. what are the odds? Its been a while since I've taken a math class, but I'd say about 1/25 It is quite a coincidence. Lets go Danks! Get us the series win tomorrow!
  6. I guess this would be as good a time as ever for Alexei's first MLB HR. we need someone to spark us. ...or a double play ground ball, whatever works for him
  7. QUOTE (Brian @ Apr 19, 2008 -> 06:09 PM) If we don't score, the screwed up rundown means sh*t. yep, right now we dont look like we want to win this game. Lets get some positive momentum going with the bats!
  8. QUOTE (max power @ Apr 19, 2008 -> 05:56 PM) Seriously what the f*** is that honking noise? If I was sitting a couple rows in front of whoever brought that thing... I may have to turn around and punch him. On second thought, I'd probably just change seats... its not like there aren't lots available.
  9. QUOTE (BearSox @ Apr 19, 2008 -> 05:48 PM) you don't run him to next base in a rundown, you run him back to his original base. That was both Juan's and Cabrera's fault. I agree with you. Cabrera kinda threw the whole thing out of order when he fired it a little soon... but Juan should have done pretty much the same thing right back at him at that point (in my opinion). Always run runners back to the base they came from. Also, Im not totally sure that Juan's final throw was intended for OC... he might have just intercepted a pass to Crede (even if it got to Joe Im not sure that we would have gotten the out). Overall just bad defense there. Hopefully the Sox can move on past it and get themselves a hold and couple of runs here.
  10. just sat down to watch the game and I get the pleasure of seeing that fun run-down. haha, that was bad. But we're still in the game, hopefully Mark can settle down and keep the Rays at 3 and hopefully we'll get to their pitcher the second time through...
  11. Although I am a bit surprised that they are keeping Buehrle and Danks back to back... I dont think this rotation shift is going to surprise anyone (I bet we will see a lot of it this year in order to try and keep Buehrle's innings lower than past years... plus that will make sure he isn't tired when we're playing some extra games come October )
  12. QUOTE (fathom @ Apr 17, 2008 -> 06:26 PM) Orlando just missed that. haha, if he missed that he might have taken a fastball in the stomach. I did that once in little league, not fun.
  13. Lets get that 10th "W"! Gavin has been great thus far, time to see if he has what it takes to beat someone not from Detroit.
  14. Baseball: WhiteSox (obviously) - I half heartedly cheer for the Cubs as well, I secretly want nothing more than to see a Chicago World Series (with the Sox sweeping the crap out of the Cubs of course, haha) Football: Bears, starts and stops there. I really dont even like watching NFL games that the Bears arent involved in... maybe it's because I truly dont like the sport of Football as much as baseball, golf, and college basketball. College: Iowa Hawkeyes (where I got my degree), Notre Dame (where most of my family got their degrees, and I may end up getting my graduate degree there) - I am mostly a college basketball guy, but I follow football as well. Golf: I don't really have a favorite here. I have been a golfer since I was 3 or 4 with cut off clubs my Dad would make, great memories... I remember watching Jack Nicklaus growing up and I cried a little when he walked off of St Andrews for the last time. After that I have never really cheered for anyone on a regular basis. I really like it when someone comes out of nowhere to win a Major (ala Zach Johnson), I couldn't even imagine that feeling. Gotta give shout outs to the Saprista Futbol club in Costa Rica and the Chinandega baseball team in Nicaragua as well, as they gave me my sports fix while spending time volunteering abroad in Central America.
  15. According to Reifert's blog, it looks like we'll be seeing the normal lineup tonight. Thome still in the 3-hole, Swish back in CF and Uribe at 2nd. Go Sox! Hopefully Contreras can continue the great SP we've seen as of late.
  16. A quick look at the other scores around the league show that our Sox have taken over first place once again! Its a good feeling to have again, even if it is April.
  17. Its hard not to love both of them.... good read.
  18. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Apr 15, 2008 -> 08:24 PM) I think he'll get Rowand money or more next offseason on the open market. I think he might take $1-2 million less per year to stay in Chicago if he could get the Boras folks to give up some control. A contract like Konerko's for example. yeah, thats kinda what I was thinking as well... IMO they are pretty similar players.
  19. Im curious... What do you guys think it would cost to keep Crede on the south side after this year, and what do you think he would demand on the FA market (it may be the same... or maybe he'd take a home town discount, seems to me like he probably would). Im asking this assuming that he stays healthy and hits in the ballpark of .270-.280 with 30ish HRs. If he doesn't do that, I don't think the question will even be an issue. Secondary question: If we have to make the decision of only keeping one of Crede and Cabrera long term (because of cost), which scenario do you guys think is better... Crede at 3B with Ramirez at SS or Fields at 3B with Cabrera at SS Obviously there are more options than that, there are other FAs... there is always Uribe (*shudder*), etc. But, those are probably the two most likely options if we have to choose one. Just trying to bring a little more to the conversation than the Fields vs Crede boxing match.
  20. The other day while I was bored I was running scenarios through my head where we could end up keeping both Crede and Fields while giving them both ABs. Obviously this means a shift in our DH spot... which I think is possible in the next few years with Thome and Dye both not getting any younger. But in the end, I came to the conclusion that although I love both Crede and Fields... it is very unlikely both will end up being on our team after this season. I guess the "most likely" scenario I came up with is probably: Let Thome go after this season (I believe he has a buyout after this year). And start give Fields some time at First base down in AAA this season. That way Fields can DH and back up Crede and Konerko, giving him plenty of ABs. But that also leaves us with a very, very "right handed" batting order, which in my opinion isnt all that good... but isnt the end of the world either. I dont know... in the end I think Crede is gone after this season (if we are out of the playoff picture by the trade deadline). I love Crede's glove and his bat (when he is hitting well), but like they all say baseball is a business and Fields will come at such a cheaper rate that I dont see the Sox signing Crede and trading Fields. But im no GM, so maybe I'm wrong. Either way, I like having the problem of having too many good players at a position.
  21. nice K for Danksy! and a grounder to OCab for the final out... lets get a couple more runs!
