  1. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Dec 6, 2014 -> 01:47 PM) Bearcats looking tough The schedule strength campaigning begins!
  2. The best part was when they started playing Hail to the Victors immediately after the final whistle
  3. One of the four playoff bids is locked up. Oregon's offense looks shaky, so their defense is dominant.
  4. QUOTE (Brian @ Dec 5, 2014 -> 08:52 PM) Kansas looks awful Say what now?
  5. QUOTE (pettie4sox @ Dec 5, 2014 -> 03:34 PM) They all make that much money? They carried a mediocre roster all the way to one game from a World Series title. Teams like to emulate the newest trend in playoff teams, hence paying extra for setup guys.
  6. QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Dec 5, 2014 -> 01:17 PM) Big Ten having more eligible teams than tie-ins does not automatically leave Illinois out. There are invariably other conferences that can't fill all their bowl slots. Apparently with the new bowl system, some of the mid-major conferences forced the bowls to include them in their contignency plans. I'll try to find a link later, but I think the Cactus Bowl has a Big 12 tie-in. If the Big-12 can't fill their spot, then they must take a Mountain West team, not any at-large team. Same thing with the New Orleans Bowl and Conference USA.
  7. Bears vs. opponents > .500 = 1-7 Average score: 20 - 36 Bears vs. opponents
  8. QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Dec 5, 2014 -> 08:26 AM) Conte is the best Safety on the roster too. Think about that. There was a very audible cheer when it was announced he was out for the game last night.
  9. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Dec 5, 2014 -> 02:23 AM) It's not the opposite of that scenario? If Alabama wins, MSU is very likely going to the Orange Bowl. For some contractual reason, that eliminates a Big Ten spot in the Citrus Bowl. The only way to get a spot back is if Wisconsin beats OSU, and both of those teams, along with MSU, qualify for a New Year's Six Bowl or whatever it's called. https://espn.go.com/college-football/story/...miss-postseason
  10. QUOTE (Brian @ Dec 5, 2014 -> 05:30 AM) They had a couple of games where they looked really good but more often awful. Fuller, as a rookie, has had to defend the best WRs in the game. He'll get better. It's just hard to believe they keep throwing Conte out there. He just has no instincts out there. Random text from my bro-in-law from CA last night, "This Conte guy is terrible" Sums it up perfectly.
  11. QUOTE (Chilihead90 @ Nov 30, 2014 -> 03:35 PM) Rams went HAM today. Tre Mason is a fast little f***er. QUOTE (Chilihead90 @ Dec 5, 2014 -> 01:47 AM) How 'bout dem Cowboys? *runs* Nice try...
  12. QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Dec 4, 2014 -> 04:30 PM) Well that's a kick in the balls. Apparently there might not be enough bowl games for the bowl eligible Big Ten teams. I'm sure Illinois would be the first team out. Need Wisconsin to beat Ohio State in order to get the bid. Better get those extra practices in before they get denied!
  13. No excitement for the Bears night game? ??? Heading down now, my favorite part of the games this year has been the entrance line, picking out which women will have their purse denied, oblivious to the bag rule, and guessing who gets most pissed off. That's how good the season has been, lol.
  14. QUOTE (bmags @ Dec 4, 2014 -> 03:04 PM) But even if he did well enough for OSU, it's not like it was the golden years of that program, or even considerably better than what it was before. It depends if you give him any credit for starting the turnaround his two years before Dennis Erickson. From 1971-1996 before Riley's first stint there, they had zero winning seasons, they were one of the worst programs in all of football. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Dec 4, 2014 -> 03:05 PM) Plus he was there during a horrific gang rape scandal Yeah, that's gonna be a problem for him.
  15. QUOTE (zenryan @ Dec 4, 2014 -> 11:25 AM) Coaches are getting paid a lot of money at schools that arent traditional powers. Plus those jobs provide better job security. Mullen and Freeze will be getting $4m a year and will have great security as long as they win their 8 games a year and make a run at the SEC West every recruiting cycle. Besides the Chip Kelly nonsense that Colin Cowherd got from his "sources", who is that slam dunk name out there this year? Really missed the boat by not firing Muschamp last season. They could've made a run at Charlie Strong. I get what you are saying, I just imagine Florida as a top-tier program and it just seemed like they settled and spent a lot of money. Although, he may be a great coach, I have no idea. At least they didn't hear Mike Riley, right?
  16. Stewart Mandel ‏@slmandel 22m22 minutes ago RT @Jeff_McLane: Chip Kelly on why he wasn't interested in the Florida job: "I don't think our pro offense would work at the college level."
  17. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Dec 4, 2014 -> 10:41 AM) Seth Gruen ‏@SethGruen 1h1 hour ago Report: Florida hires Colorado State's Jim McElwain: http://chicagosuntimes.com/sports/report-f...s-jim-mcelwain/ … Pretty uninspiring hire for a school like Florida. Did they even talk to any other head coaches? He may do well, but I expected more than throwing bags of money at the #1 guy on everyone's "hot Mid-Major Coaches" list. He's only 22-16 as a head coach, at least Urban Meyer was 39-8 when they hired him.
  18. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Dec 4, 2014 -> 09:45 AM) The odds of beating wisconsin with a 3rd string QB is very slim anyway so none of this is probably relevant Yeah, but it's still fun arguing over what someone else's opinion will be over resumes that are completely unbalanced.
  19. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Dec 4, 2014 -> 08:10 AM) They don't "drop" the entire ranking is reset and recalculated. It's not a poll or a computer. Conference title game (which is an extra game overall) against a highly ranked opponent as well as OSU having the best overall win and more wins against .500 or better opponents (almost twice as many). The math is there to figure out. Of course beating Wisconsin is probably not going to happen anyway so the top four should stay the same though FSU will jump TCU. Ohio State already has the best overall win and more wins against .500 or better opponents. Why are they ranked two spots lower now?
  20. QUOTE (Heads22 @ Dec 4, 2014 -> 08:04 AM) I simply don't see the basis for dropping TCU two spots for winning this week, and I don't think they'll be punished for doing so. A win over Wisconsin is simply not that important. At that point, TCU might as well drop 3 spots if Baylor beats Kansas State. Wisconsin's loss to Northwestern may end up costing Ohio State more. Wisconsin also hasn't beaten a single current top 25 team. The only major two loss team lower than them is Missouri, and they have zero top 25 wins and a loss to Indiana.
  21. QUOTE (Heads22 @ Dec 4, 2014 -> 07:52 AM) The conference that should be worried is the ACC. You have an undefeated team that's won 25 or whatever consecutive games behind three one loss teams and close to the edge of the playoff. They are playing the #11 ranked team this weekend, so they have nothing to worry about it if they win. If they were facing an unranked opponent and they struggled again, then maybe there would be cause for concern.
  22. QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Dec 3, 2014 -> 11:59 PM) If Ohio State wins they should jump tcu. Rock laid it out before. No they shouldn't, but I'm not going down this road again. I honestly think it's more likely the Big 12 gets two teams instead of zero teams.
  23. Rumors that Nebraska is talking to Bret Bielema. That would be comical.
