  1. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Dec 11, 2014 -> 09:55 AM) Their bullpen on the other hand............ On paper their bullpen would have been unhittable in 2007 with those names
  2. QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Dec 11, 2014 -> 09:41 AM) Verlander, Sanchez, ?, ?, ?. Ugly David Price is signed for 2015 and they traded for Shane Greene. That's a solid top 4.
  3. QUOTE (bmags @ Dec 11, 2014 -> 09:20 AM) He's saying quotes aren't necessary anymore. Gotcha. I was implying that she couldn't even lie about her name correctly to the reporter. Something obviously happened to her, but it might not have been at UVA, it might not have been sexual assault. It may just be issues at home, that have her looking for attention in any way possible.
  4. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Dec 11, 2014 -> 09:17 AM) I read something yesterday that even though all these guys are in the same place, most trade discussion is still occurring through email and text. Steak Dinner, BOOM!
  5. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Dec 11, 2014 -> 08:59 AM) Seriously? Ugh. Not seeing anything in news reports on this, at least not yet. A quick Twitter search found me this: http://www.cip2c.com/jailinmates.aspx
  6. QUOTE (smalls2598 @ Dec 11, 2014 -> 08:54 AM) Rotoworld: According to CJ Nitkowski of FOX Sports 1, outfielder Yoenis Cespedes has been traded to the Tigers for right-handed starter Rick Porcello. I saw on Twitter that a third team may also be part of the trade, but no details to that just yet. It seems like that trade has been talked about for weeks now. Porcello seems to improve last year, I don't see how this trade makes Detroit any better.
  7. QUOTE (Lemon_44 @ Dec 10, 2014 -> 05:53 PM) I have no problem giving Viciedo another year to show improvement at the plate. He's not going to be a good defensive player but there have been a lot of bad defensive players that can hit and hit for power. I don't know why everyone is writing off a 25 year old. There are numerous players that have struggled at the plate in their early to mid 20's and then turned it around into nice careers. Ortiz and Carlos Gomez come to mind. I'm not saying he'll turn into that type of hitter but I'm not writing him off either. I always see in the minor league section people talking about guys being in age appropriate levels. Viciedo has been in the bigs since 21 so his development is occurring at the ML level. Nelson Cruz was just entering ML at 25. Now that you mention Ortiz & Cruz, you have a good point. Someone just needs to convince Viciedo to start taking steroids.
  8. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Dec 11, 2014 -> 08:32 AM) For whatever it's worth, her real name was outed and it actually is Jackie. So you are saying she's an even worse liar than the story makes it seem
  9. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Dec 11, 2014 -> 08:28 AM) I haven't seen Peavy's name thrown around anywhere, but I think I'd still like to see him return. As a 4th starter Jake would be damn nice to have. No thanks. 5 years in the AL, only once did he manage an ERA of under 4 and I don't see why that would improve at age 34. He needs to stick to the pitchers parks of San Francisco and San Diego.
  10. QUOTE (Eminor3rd @ Dec 10, 2014 -> 08:42 PM) The Marlins just got ROBBED. This is just a reminder not to complete a trade with Andrew Friedman. He is ruthless. QUOTE (Eminor3rd @ Dec 10, 2014 -> 11:20 PM) Wait... what? Why the What were you saying about Freidman??
  11. QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Dec 9, 2014 -> 11:05 PM) So the Big Ten isn't good. You can add to the resume a home loss by Nebraska to something called Incarnate Word
  12. "Jackie's" friends are claiming that she made up the boy she supposedly had a date with in order to make another friend jealous. http://www.washingtonpost.com/local/educat..._washingtonpost
  13. QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Dec 11, 2014 -> 07:16 AM) I think with the way advanced metrics have changed how we value defense, Viciedo can't hit enough to justify keeping him in LF. That's true and we have zero use for a DH currently, or at least zero use for a $4 million platoon DH. (And he hasn't even hit lefties that well the past two seasons.) Given his age, I'm not ready to declare him a bust, but he might have to break out somewhere else if it happens.
  14. I know we went through the same thing with Beckham and held on to him too long, but I'm still scared to get rid of Viciedo. I still think he can became a great power hitter. Unfortunately, I have zero evidence to back that up.
  15. QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Dec 10, 2014 -> 05:57 PM) Did he understand exactly which OSU he was going to? Whoa, wait a second. Are you saying Corvallis??? OHHHH, I thought you were saying Columbus. Yeah, never mind, I'm good.
  16. "If you saw the bullpen last year, I apologize "
  17. Wisconsin's head coach Gary Andersen is taking the Oregon State job
  18. Per Buster Olney, the Dodgers have acquired the 30-something shortstop they were looking for : Jimmy Rollins
  19. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Dec 10, 2014 -> 03:10 PM) So I heard the Cubs won the World Series. Between the Cubs and Royals, every WS until 2020 is spoken for.
  20. QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Dec 10, 2014 -> 11:39 AM) Stolen from Twitter: We can safely assume that the person in the other vehicle was not one of Cam Newton's receivers. He hasn't been able to hit them all season. Someone else said that it was only his 8th least successful drive of the season
  21. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Dec 10, 2014 -> 10:59 AM) Ruh-Roh http://deadspin.com/j-t-barrett-involved-i...ce-w-1669289347 Well that's one way to solve next year's QB controversy QUOTE (ChiSox_Sonix @ Dec 10, 2014 -> 11:06 AM) Alabama EV Oregon +160 Florida State +500 Ohio State +600 I think that price on Alabama is really short. I thought they'd be more in the -140 range. I expect books will see a lot of action on them at that price Ohio State +600 seems like a solid value bet
  22. Volquez and the Cell seem like a really bad mix, no thanks.
  23. That bullpen may set a record for most money spent per save/hold given how few leads they will have
  24. Can we just stop with all of these BS narratives about choosing the Cubs because of a sales pitch or because they have a "plan"? Nearly $26 million AAV. He chose them because of money, that's how free agency works. There's nothing with admitting that. The end of the deal could get ugly, but until then Lester should be legit. When you potentially have so many cheap, cost-controlled plus bats, it makes it much easier to stomach an overpay for an ace.
