  1. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Dec 2, 2014 -> 08:41 AM) Wasnt Medlen a reliever? I could have sworn he was setup for them I always thought he was only a starter, but it looks like they have moved him back and forth. Looks like he might be a starter now 2009: 37 G, 4 GS 2010: 31 G, 14 GS 2011: 2 G, 0 GS 2012: 50 G, 12 GS 2013: 32 G, 31 GS
  2. Bears had 8 rushing attempts, the all-time record for fewest rushing attempts is 6, held by the 1933 Chicago Cardinals & 2004 Patriots. So I guess the Bears don't hold the Chicago record, they got that going for them.
  3. It's pretty impressive when you have the fewest rushing attempts in franchise history, and the franchise is the oldest one in the league.
  4. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Dec 2, 2014 -> 06:51 AM) Forte had some pointed criticism about it I saw that too, I just didn't include his name because he has little input into the playcalling. The other three are the main culprits, yet they just kind of play the "I don't know what happened" game. Someone mentioned that the score got away from them, but to start the 2nd half only down 10, they called 12 straight passes. Next drive down 7, 4 passes and 1 run.
  5. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Dec 1, 2014 -> 09:38 PM) Seahawks. Who else? UW? Vancouver? Portland? One thing that's a bit more puzzling is why they would trade Iwakuma? Maybe with Paxton and Walker coming quickly, they decided to save some money on their rotation and spread it out across other areas of the team. I guess it depends on who they're hoping to add if they deal him...plus, from a marketing side, they have the longest tradition (along with the Yankees and Dodgers) of utilizing Asian players to their benefit. The Sounders average over 40,000 fans per game
  6. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Dec 1, 2014 -> 03:21 PM) So Trestman had his morning radio call in, and said "You wouldnt be able to tell if we won or lost based on how these guys are acting, this is a good group of guys" as if that was a really good thing. Cutler. Trestman, and Kromer were all disappointed with how little they ran the ball on Thursday. Well who the f*** calls the plays, Rueben Garza? Fire them all.
  7. Cool read. A buddy of mine is a scout for a NHL team, I always hear about how many weekends he spends in some unglamorous towns. And that's for hockey where games are usually on the weekends, I can only imagine baseball where it's almost every day for 5-6 months.
  8. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Dec 1, 2014 -> 02:43 PM) I agree, but I think he should be fine for the first two years and good enough, especially against lefties, the last two to find some value out of it. It's not my favorite deal, but the Mariners have opened the window and want to win before it closes again, so this move makes sense in that light. We'll see what they look like in 2017, but my guess is that it'll be a bit uglier at that point. If there is any team for whom I think it makes sense to go "all-in" and risk some awful contracts, it's the Mariners. The past has shown that they can have a great, supportive fanbase, but their two next-door neighbors have taken away all the excitement and pub from them. They have a top-5 pitcher in the league and you don't want to waste him before something goes wrong. Plus, I know their owners can afford it. So I can understand the Cano & Cruz deals for them.
  9. QUOTE (bmags @ Dec 1, 2014 -> 01:59 PM) QB who throws a lot of interceptions in first half and makes up for it with second half comebacks...no thanks. At first read I totally thought you were referring to Matt Stafford, lol
  10. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Dec 1, 2014 -> 12:43 PM) If the cap doesn't go up a lot, the ability to dump contracts is going to get a lot tougher, league wide. Yeah, the Hawks aren't gonna be the only team with cap trouble. Around the time of the Voynov accusations, I remember the Kings were like $51 under the cap, or something ridiculously small like that. Hopefully the Hawks can depend on Dale Tallon taking on some more big contracts as a favor down in Florida.
  11. QUOTE (TRU @ Dec 1, 2014 -> 01:23 PM) If they didn't have Derek Carr, yes. This is more of a general statement, but I feel like teams passing on QBs because they already have a young starter is a huge mistake teams make. If you think Mariota is the real deal, Derek Carr or Blake Bortles shouldn't stop you from drafting them. (I have no idea how good Mariota will be, it's more of a hypothetical) QB is such an important position nowadays, you don't pass up a star because you might have an OK one developing right now.
  12. QUOTE (GoSox05 @ Dec 1, 2014 -> 12:27 PM) I actually think the Bears can win all three home games. Road game vs Vikings is probably the toughest. I guarantee they win 2, if not 3, of their last 4 games. That's the Bears for you, not good enough for a playoff berth, not bad enough for a top draft pick.
  13. QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Dec 1, 2014 -> 11:00 AM) Oh I totally disagree. They're still not "good," but they were in more games this year and actually won a few of them. It's not like they really lucked into their wins either. They played "well" in all of them. I also liked that they played their best football at the end of the year. Beckman also deserves credit for handling the Lunt situation. Sticking with O'Toole wasn't the popular choice, even with Lunt struggling. They didn't play very "well" in the PSU game, they were just the luckier of two awful football teams. And the two games before that, they were routed, so I don't know how you can say they were playing their best football at the end of the year. The Minnesota game was the only one that gave them more credibility. Let's also remember they were trailing in the 4th quarter in 11 of their 12 games, including all 3 non-BCS non-conference games. Given the 6-6 outcome, I think he earned another year, but my hopes aren't very high for 2015. I do agree with B>W, the best decision for Illinois football would be to find a new coach this year, but it's not always that simple.
  14. Sagging Canadian dollar could force Blackhawks to make big changes
  15. QUOTE (Brian @ Nov 30, 2014 -> 06:24 PM) Kosta found dead. Awful That;s just awful. The head injury problem in football is only getting worse.
  16. QUOTE (iamshack @ Nov 30, 2014 -> 06:29 PM) Those two teams are so much better than the Bears The talent gap is obvious but a lot of the play-calling just made me cry too, after the crap we have seen from Trestman this year. Loved the way Green Bay used Cobb out of the backfield.
  17. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Nov 30, 2014 -> 04:27 PM) The Rams still have to convert all those picks into wins. No one will care about a lopsided trade if they remain a 6-7 win team for the next 3 years. Agreed. 3 years after the trade, Washington will have one division title from it and the Rams will have zero playoff berths. That's why the Herschel Walker trade was so significant, it helped create a Super Bowl dynasty.
  18. QUOTE (Greyone @ Nov 30, 2014 -> 01:26 PM) Unfortunately I have little faith in the McCaskeys period, and there is no Rocky in sight with this ownership. This is from 2010, but a very interesting article about how the McCaskeys are holding the Bears back financially and on the field. And there may be light at the end of the tunnel. http://www.forbes.com/forbes/2010/0913/nfl...ets-midway.html
  19. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Nov 30, 2014 -> 11:46 AM) @sryantribune: A statement from Mike Thomas expected today on status of coach Beckman. Signs indicate he's staying. My condolences, Illini fans #WINT LOL, as he should for at least one more year. He won't be able to back his way into 6 wins in 2015 though. NU comes to Champaign, but their next four "easiest" conference games are all on the road, as is the one BCS non-conference opponent. There will need to be improvement to go bowling next year.
  20. Dalton vs. McCown might be a worse game than Cutler vs. McCown was
  21. QUOTE (Chilihead90 @ Nov 30, 2014 -> 12:51 AM) I talked to Samardzija's cousin tonight, but he doesn't seem to have any info. All he really gave me a glimpse in to was that Jeff may take an extension for less than market value if it means he gets to stay near home and play for his childhood team. But he's just speculating. Maybe an extension of 5 yrs/$90M works instead of 5 yrs/$105M or something. I realize the Cubs weren't his favorite team growing up, but if he cared that much about playing near home, he would have signed a team friendly extension with them years ago.
  22. Don't eat Taco Bell for dinner tonight.
  23. QUOTE (danman31 @ Nov 30, 2014 -> 12:10 AM) There's not enough talk in this thread about how awful the SEC East is. It's the NFC South of college football!
  24. Unfortunately I have little faith in the McCaskeys firing anybody after only 2 years
  25. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Nov 28, 2014 -> 06:40 PM) Pierre LeBrun ‏@Real_ESPNLeBrun 54m54 minutes ago Ever since losing at Wpg on Nov 2 to fall to 6-5-1, Hawks have since gone 8-3-0 and scored 40 goals in those 11 games. They're b-a-a-c-c-k-k I recall an intelligent poster saying a while back, don't worry, everything will be fine, they are due.
