  1. QUOTE (iamshack @ Jul 15, 2014 -> 01:00 PM) But again, in that case, I don't think there were any doctors who were saying "he is perfectly healthy!" This is a situation where three doctors are saying "there is nothing wrong with this kid," and the Astros are saying "we see something abnormal here." Are those three doctors saying "There is nothing wrong with this kid" or "The kid is healthy enough to pitch right now". That's not the same thing.
  2. QUOTE (iamshack @ Jul 15, 2014 -> 12:09 PM) But he can take a college scholarship if he fails to sign. He can also re-enter the draft later if he chooses. And if he takes that college scholarship then hurts his elbow and can't pitch anymore, he may never earn $3.1 million for the rest of this life.
  3. I would prefer they just take the ballot away from all the boneheads, but it's a start.
  4. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Jul 15, 2014 -> 11:57 AM) I wonder if being declared a te instead of a wr tied his hands a bit in negotiations. I would think so. If the Saints can just franchise him for $7 million instead of $12 million, you would think they do that as many years as allowed. He knows that, so might as well take the guaranteed money.
  5. QUOTE (The Ultimate Champion @ Jul 15, 2014 -> 10:04 AM) I've got a giant dick on my screen what am I doing wrong? That's Skype, not Soxtalk
  6. QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Jul 15, 2014 -> 07:33 AM) NL: McCutchen 8, Puig 9, Tulowitzki 6, Goldschmidt 3, Stanton DH, Ramirez 5, Utley 4, Gomez 7; Wainright 1 AL: Jeter 6, Trout 7, Cano 4, Cabrera 3, Bautista 9, Cruz DH, Jones 8, Donaldson 5, Perez 2; Hernandez 1 I guess Farrell has no interest in winning the game when he bats by far the worst hitter on the team first. "But the game matters!" - Bud Selig QUOTE (onedude @ Jul 15, 2014 -> 07:38 AM) Better to bat him first. Get him his 2 at bats and out of there as quick as possible. No way Jeter gets less than 3 at bats
  7. They should have just had Joe Saunders pitch normally, the home runs would have doubled.
  8. Remember when Wang faced R.A. Dickey? That was awesome.
  9. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Jul 14, 2014 -> 11:27 AM) Remember when he didn't suck? No, that's how long ago it was
  10. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Jul 14, 2014 -> 11:28 AM) It was Ozzie. Yeah, that's right. For some reason though, I thought there were some rumblings from people that AJ's ship had run it's course in the clubhouse and that was part of the reason they happily switched to the one and only T-Flo. Of course, like ss2k5 said, it was nowhere near the negativity after he left Minnesota, San Francisco, or Boston
  11. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 14, 2014 -> 10:40 AM) The White Sox are the only team that stories like this didn't leak out from. I find that pretty interesting. Was it AJ or Ozzie leaving that guys like Konerko kind of gave the "Change in the clubhouse is good, wink, wink"?
  12. QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Jul 13, 2014 -> 08:27 AM) If you are getting even money odds that the Cubs will not win a pennant by 2017, yes you take this bet. That would be a good bet for nearly every team, not just the Cubs.
  13. QUOTE (zenryan @ Jul 13, 2014 -> 04:45 PM) They cant use that as an excuse, especially since they needed 120 minutes in 3 of their 4 knockout games. Best team won, glad it wasnt settled by kicks. It takes some skill to go 300 minutes without scoring a goal yet ending up so close to winning it all. Agreed that the best team throughout won.
  14. It's not over yet, but that's a World Cup winning goal. Beautiful soccer right there.
  15. QUOTE (MexSoxFan#1 @ Jul 13, 2014 -> 03:18 PM) Lol, how's that a foul on Higuain, wtf That was almost concussion numero dos
  16. QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 13, 2014 -> 02:47 PM) Yeah, he's having a miserable season. It's strange to me they keep saying he is one of their core building blocks. It's great though, as it's one more question mark they have instead of a sure-fire starter. Yeah, they may have gained a starter in Arrieta, but this version of Wood almost cancels it out
  17. Hey fathom, what happened to Travis Wood?
  18. QUOTE (whitesoxfan99 @ Jul 13, 2014 -> 02:31 PM) Soccer really needs to develop concussion protocols. That German player should never have been allowed to continue on. It only took him collapsing on the pitch again to finally remove him, ridiculous.
  19. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jul 12, 2014 -> 09:52 PM) http://www.csnchicago.com/cubs/cubs-sit-th...&ocid=yahoo How much would the Cubs have to eat in salary to take Edwin Jackson back from the Cubs and for Cooper to rehab him into a top-flight starter again? Impossible to happen? Probably. But it would be sweet revenge. They'd have to throw in his entire contract and the revenue from the Captain Morgan Club.
  20. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 12, 2014 -> 10:40 PM) The contracts for Toews and Kane are huge now, but it really seems like they are projecting a big cap jump. Hopefully they are right, otherwise this team is capf***ed. Just root for the Canadian dollar, the better it does the higher the cap goes.
  21. QUOTE (chisoxfan310 @ Jul 12, 2014 -> 05:39 PM) Rienzo sent to Charlotte. Guess Heath is coming up as a fresh bullpen arm? Seems unnecessary with 4 off days after tomorrow's game. They said they are calling up a position player because Eaton and now Alexei may be unavailable
  22. QUOTE (chw42 @ Jul 12, 2014 -> 01:45 AM) Romero's only given up 3 goals for the entire tournament. Most importantly, 0 goals in the knockout rounds. He was also great in PKs against the Dutch. Navas deserves it, he carried that Costa Rica team into the quarters. Neuer is one of the best in the world, so I don't see why he doesn't deserve it. Germany has only given up 3 goals all tournament as well. We're biased towards Howard. He was obviously awesome, but that doesn't mean other keepers didn't perform just as well, if not better. Romero has 15 saves in 6 games. Howard had that many in one game. Romero has been helped by a much stronger defense, plus the Dutch didn't really try to score in the semifinal. Neuer does deserve more credit than I gave him, he has made 25 saves, didn't realize Germany had given up that many shots.
  23. QUOTE (Heads22 @ Jul 12, 2014 -> 10:19 AM) tmar is trolling you guys Where does Greedon rank on the nickname scale?
  24. QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Jul 11, 2014 -> 08:54 PM) Howard didn't make the top three for the best keeper award. Neither was Mexico's goalie, at least one of those two should have made it. Costa Rica's goalie deserved his place, the German goalie is outstanding but hasn't had to do that much this tourney, and I don't know why Argentina's goalie made it. And I can't believe they still have a 3rd place game.
