Is Kansas a Laughingstock or Do You Not Care?
LittleHurt05 replied to greg775's topic in The Filibuster
QUOTE (greg775 @ May 29, 2014 -> 10:32 PM) They're mad because the policy is vague. It all stems from the professor at KU tweeting that he wished violence on children of NRA members following the death of 13 people in DC at the Navy Yard. He was put on leave and eventually forced out. Sounds like the professor deserved to be forced out. "Come attend the proud state university of Kansas where teachers publicly hope to see kids violently hurt. " -
Is Kansas a Laughingstock or Do You Not Care?

QUOTE (greg775 @ May 29, 2014 -> 10:10 PM) Kansas is such a joke. State Government that turns down money from the federal government for its people and other groups. For instance, the Board of Regents recently passed a policy indicating teachers could get fired over stuff they put on social media, in a sense stifling freedom of speech. Lots of teachers at the university are so upset they are immediately looking for new jobs. How is that stifling free speech? They aren't getting arrested or losing rights as a citizen. -

QUOTE (IlliniKrush @ May 29, 2014 -> 09:50 PM) The Rangers aren't as good as the Kings, but Henrik is tough to beat. Montreal down a goal going into the 3rd and the Rangers dominate the period. Would have loved to get that to go 7. But I guess Messier guaranteed victory. The two West teams are obviously better, but we know to never count out a hot team with a stud goalie. Pretty piss poor performance by Montreal though. It was only a 1-0 final, but they didn't show up. Carey Price wouldn't have changed the outcome

George. Springer.

Good for King Henrik. Would like to see him win a cup one day, but not this year cause the Hawks still have six wins in them.
-
Sterling bought the team for $12.5 million. In the end, he still wins

QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ May 29, 2014 -> 08:17 AM) I hate coffee culture as well as the pretentiousness around it. Sometimes I wonder how many people drink Starbucks for the taste and how many just want to be seen in public with a Starbucks cup. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ May 29, 2014 -> 08:46 AM) Completely and totally disagree. The people who are pretentious about such things have made it possible for me to get a much better quality cup of coffee/bottle of beer without having to become an expert in such things myself. That's a good point, I do enjoy trying craft beers. Just if I'd prefer a Coors Light instead of sampling your new double triple Porter IPA, don't look at me like I'm a rube. Sometimes a cold watered down beer hits the spot.

QUOTE (LDF @ May 29, 2014 -> 06:31 AM) hello my friend, while it is great to read great comments from other sox fans, the 1 thing I notice this rebuilding yr is no sense of urgency from the front office. is it possible b/c the fans realize as well that some hard time if coming. imho acquiring the great talent of Jose A is softening the rebuilding. this yr the sox front office has said rebuild ..... the window of opportunity is now for some trades to happen. if we can find the right trading partner. do you, the fans think that nothing is going to be done until the draft? here is a question I need help with the answer, if we traded more players and by default, we scale back on the salary, are we going to get our hands slap by the baseball front office??? I taking about how over the weekend the sCrubs were mention and how the commish is looking at them. so does that mean we too should be looked at as well??? I don't believe it was the Commish that was looking at them, I think it was the players union, whose job it is to increase player's salaries, so I wouldn't look much into that.

QUOTE (SoxAce @ May 29, 2014 -> 07:02 AM) Healthy scratch Versteeg. That eliminates about half of them right there. Given that he didn't play the final 45+ minutes, I'd imagine that's highly likely. I kept seeing Kane skating with Bollig & Handzus and was so confused until I realized he was double shifting because Steeg had been benched.
-
Just got home from the UC, it was rocking tonight. That first overtime was unbelievable, so intense. Looks like Handzus gets a break from negativity for a few days, huge goal. Saad was obviously awesome, thought Ben Smith was great too. One down, two to go. If they want to win in LA, they might want to cut down on the turnovers though.

2022 winter games losing bidders
LittleHurt05 replied to southsider2k5's topic in Alex’s Olde Tyme Sports Pub
QUOTE (bmags @ May 28, 2014 -> 01:22 PM) I can't see any logic in hosting a winter games. So often they are smaller cities with no hope to use that money again. The bobsled and luge track are one of the biggest problems. Those aren't cheap and take up space, but won't get much use afterwards. The are only 17 tracks in the whole world, with Korea building #18 for 2018 Olympics. -
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ May 28, 2014 -> 10:52 AM) Tracey Myers @TramyersCSN 18m What we're seeing this am: 29-19-81, 20-65-88, 10-26-23, 52-16-28. #Blackhawks NOOOOOOO!!!!!!

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ May 28, 2014 -> 10:12 AM) The only place Paulino played where his ERA was below 5.83 was KC, and that was 162 innings and 27 starts over 2 years. How is that being a great pitcher over a fairly large period of time? That was also 2 surgeries ago, and his short stint in the minors last year look just like his performances this season. I still would take Jimenez as he has had a few good starts. And no one seems to mention Santana. I guess he is doing too well. (Although I preferred Jimenez myself, and noted it here) A 4.06 ERA in the National League? For $14.1 million? No thanks. I do agree with you on Paulino though, I couldn't believe how much people were hyping him up. I almost started believe it too. Almost.

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ May 28, 2014 -> 09:02 AM) Please hurry up and sign Jeff Keppinger. That will make the rest of our match-ups with the Twins more interesting. Sorry to see Morneau having such a great comeback season with the Rockies. That must sting a bit, but who could have predicted it after how poorly he played for the Pirates down the stretch? Actually, I would say it was pretty easy to predict. It's the Coors Field effect. Morneau Home OPS: 1.005 Morneau Away OPS: .788

QUOTE (DBAHO @ May 28, 2014 -> 07:47 AM) Muguruza's prob gonna be a top 10 player within the next 12 months. I'd prob put my money on a claycourt specialist like Halep if I had to, but the Women's draw is such a crapshoot at best..... With Serena out, my money is on Sharapova

QUOTE (Athomeboy_2000 @ May 27, 2014 -> 01:34 PM) Cubs released the renderings of the Wrigley renovations. Looks nice to me. As part of the renovation, the bullpens will be moved to under the bleachers. Those new scoreboards are a major f*** you to the rooftop owners.
