  1. 2 more game 7s in the East. More bang-up scheduling by the NHL, both game 7s will occur before game 6s in the West.
  2. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ May 12, 2014 -> 08:22 PM) RV says "SCREW YOU 140 OR BUST" while hiding his Dusty Baker's Pitching Handbook in his back pocket
  3. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ May 12, 2014 -> 08:02 PM) This game would not be played if in Chicago Never count out the Sodfather.
  4. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ May 12, 2014 -> 08:14 PM) So at this point the solution is to stop using pitchers, right? Just let your position players pitch. If they injure their elbow, they can most likely still bat so it's OK.
  5. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ May 12, 2014 -> 06:57 PM) lol. I am actually reading a post complaining about Paul Konerko not being in the line up. Well done. I thought he was talking about Sierra?
  6. QUOTE (bmags @ May 12, 2014 -> 06:53 PM) would be shocked if it's not Tommy John. (fantasy wise this is devastating for me). Just goes to show you, just ride sale until it happens. You never know who it's going to happen to. Exactly. It again makes the Nationals look silly for benching Strasburg for the 2012 playoffs, the future is not a given for any pitcher. Well except Mark Buehrle
  7. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ May 12, 2014 -> 01:38 PM) I think they have. They lowered prices, even parking on Sundays. They changed the color of the seats. The problem is, no matter what the Sox do at that end, there will always be something else an average White Sox fan will complain about. The only thing that will work is consistently good teams. Unlike the Cubs, Bears and the Bulls after Michael Jordan, they cannot sustain high attendance with mediocre performance. If the Hawks win another Cup or 2, they may be in the same boat, at least for a while. They gave away free tickets just for filling out a simple online survey.
  8. QUOTE (CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ May 12, 2014 -> 12:42 PM) And as I have already stated that is surely the most likely question asked. What came 1st the "this is a new owner ,a new team ,a new attitude towards the fans, a new beginning /marketing strategy or the winning ? Likely they go hand in hand, but at least they realized they had to sell the fans a lot better than they were and even though now that it's a great product they continue to do so. I'd say the arrival of #19 and #88 is what increased the attendance and fandom. Either way, I don't get why Sox fans have a stigma against saying, "I don't go to Sox games because the team isn't good enough". It's like they are worried they will lose their fan card if they say that, so they have to think of any other excuse. The team has made the playoffs once in 8 years, zero times in the last 5, it makes sense that people have lost interest in the team.
  9. QUOTE (Leonard Zelig @ May 12, 2014 -> 12:30 PM) The Hawks also have half as many games and half as many seat to fill. And their tickets also sell for at least 5-10x the price that Sox tickets do.
  10. QUOTE (CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ May 12, 2014 -> 11:56 AM) Are you actually as stupid as that last question ? Damn either read everything I say or don't twist my words around. I said it's one of the many ways the Hawks show appreciation for the fans in a well run , well orchestrated marketing strategy. And how much would that marketing strategy matter if the Hawks hadn't made the playoffs once in six seasons?
  11. QUOTE (CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ May 12, 2014 -> 11:22 AM) Hey don't put words in my mouth. I said I want money spent on promotion and rewarding the fans in some fashion . Sure I'm spitballing ideas. Haven't you ever watched a Blackhawks game where the players, after a game stand at center ice and raise their sticks pointing at the fans as a salute to them for their support ? If you have better ideas throw them out there. Are you actually saying that the Hawks' box office success is directly related to their postgame fan salute?
  12. QUOTE (bmags @ May 12, 2014 -> 10:17 AM) Well, he did just sell 1,500 more season tickets. I think I found the solution to the White Sox attendance problems...
  13. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ May 12, 2014 -> 09:16 AM) I just assume the Royals are out of it. It's been like that for 28 years, why would it change now?
  14. Stat of the day: In the Toews/Kane era, the Hawks have been tied at 2-2 in 7 playoff series. In the following games they are 13-0 and have never faced a game 7.
  15. QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ May 12, 2014 -> 06:59 AM) Is it actually 40% Reinsdorf or is it owned in the same ratios as the teams? It's definitely 20% Bulls and 20% White Sox. Since Reinsdorf is not the sole owner of the Sox, I don't know if that's Wikipedia being lazy or if he worked out a deal to be the only Sox owner with stake in CSN.
  16. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ May 12, 2014 -> 06:17 AM) It'll be interesting to see who gets the bump when Sale returns amongst Rienzo, Carroll, and Noesi. It would make most sense to bump Carroll, since he is the least likely to be in the future plans of the organization.
  17. QUOTE (IlliniKrush @ May 12, 2014 -> 12:48 AM) Man, that Samardzija guy is just hot garbage. He's obviously lacking TWTW
  18. Best period they have played in a week, but still very nervous for the 3rd.
  19. QUOTE (greg775 @ May 11, 2014 -> 08:56 PM) Most moms from a non-millionaire family would freak if their family of 4 attended a Sox game with decent seats on Mother's Day. There goes the monthly budget. It's funny how much that monthly budget increases when the team is good.
  20. QUOTE (GoSox05 @ May 11, 2014 -> 07:35 PM) I bet Mel Kiper has done better than some GM's. It's tough to predict some of these guys. Some players are never good because of injuries or off the field issues. Of course it's so hard to predict, it's just silly that's his high paid full time job to be wrong a lot. It's like he's a weatherman.
  21. QUOTE (G&T @ May 11, 2014 -> 08:46 PM) Hawks 0-4 when not scoring first. Wild 5-1 when scoring first. In the second round the team scoring first is 19-0. Let's make it 19-1
  22. QUOTE (flavum @ May 11, 2014 -> 04:10 PM) Ventura gets such a pass in this town. Well he does coach the 5th most popular team in town, I'm not sure how many Chicagoans even care
  23. Sharp - Handzus -Kane starting for the Hawks. Guess the practice lines were all BS.
  24. Lines at practice: Bickell - Toews - Versteeg Saad - Kruger - Kane Sharp - Handzus - Hossa Nordstrom - Regin - Smith
  25. LOL De Aza. And it's silly that the rules call that a hit, not an error. That needs to change.
