  1. Two Mike Tyson sightings in one week! Law & Order:SVU last week & HIMYM tonight.
  2. QUOTE (flavum @ Feb 11, 2013 -> 07:26 PM) Indians to sign Michael Bourn. Good. 4 years, $48 million, with a $12 million option for the 5th year if hits 550 PAs
  3. The Danks write-up is as poorly written as the Dunn write-up is well written.
  4. QUOTE (SoxFan562004 @ Feb 11, 2013 -> 10:13 AM) He took the extra year with Marlins instead of a no or limited trade clause. He is a good guy, but it's business and he made a decision, I personally wouldn't put it in the "screwed" category. Exactly. He went to a team that has a history of trading away all their big money guys and they don't offer no trade clauses. People on this site were predicting it would happen from day one, it should not have been a surprise to Mark or his agent.
  5. Coaches Poll: 1. Duke 2. Indiana 3. Gonzaga 4. Miami 5. Michigan
  6. QUOTE (Chet Kincaid @ Feb 10, 2013 -> 07:15 PM) Of course not, that was coming off of TJ surgery. His performance in the years before he was injured scares me. Maybe it's just taking him a little longer to fully recover. He has pitched in the majors in 6 different seasons. Only once did he have an ERA of lower than 4.40. What performance scares you? His one good year was in 2008.
  7. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Feb 10, 2013 -> 07:12 PM) Fantastic week for the Illini. With the way it was going, it would have been a fantastic week if they went 1-1.
  8. QUOTE (Brian @ Feb 10, 2013 -> 07:02 PM) No foul on the rebound? Cook totally undercut him I don't want to sound like your typical Illini fan, but the refs definitely blew that call.
  9. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Feb 10, 2013 -> 06:13 PM) He sucked at drafting in the 1st round. I'm not sure any team produced more starting and impact caliber players in rounds 2-7 than the Bears did during his tenure. I'm not sure any team produced as many 2nd or 3rd round picks who contributed absolutely nothing to their team than the Bears did during his tenure. Dan Bazuin. Michael Okwo. Jarron Gilbert. Juaquin Iglesias.
  10. QUOTE (Brian @ Feb 10, 2013 -> 05:06 PM) Thought I saw Illinois had already beaten Minn today but that was the girls game Why do they even show women's scores on the bottom of the screen? It's not like anybody watches that s***. It's just confusing.
  11. QUOTE (Springfield SoxFan @ Feb 10, 2013 -> 05:27 PM) Does anyone think that Hahn puts in a claim for Campana? You can't steal 1st base
  12. Did anybody hear Clark Kellog compare Oladipo to a baby's bottom? "Smooth and sometimes explosive"
  13. Apparently the IRS isn't prepared to accept the depreciation form, so I have to wait til late February or March for my 10k refund. Boo government.
  14. QUOTE (zenryan @ Feb 10, 2013 -> 03:20 PM) I dont think Iowa will have the resume to get a spot unless they can beat Minnesota or Indiana and Illinois. That Illinois-Iowa game might be most important regular season game of the year in the Big 10. I think the Indiana games vs. Michigan/MSU might be more important in the long run. The top Big Ten team probably gets to play in the Indianapolis regional. Put Indiana there with the home crowd advantage, that's a game-changer.
  15. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Feb 10, 2013 -> 09:27 AM) Players were right. It's a much bigger "f*** you" to Kansas to not storm. That's why I think storming the court is so dumb. I love the court storm immediately after the "Over-Rated" chant. If that team is overrated, why are you treating the win like such a big deal?
  16. QUOTE (fathom @ Feb 9, 2013 -> 11:38 PM) I can't imagine how annoyed Louisville fans were having to watch that game with Vitale announcing. Oh well, Russ Smith wins the award for dumbest player of 2013. He almost convinced me that the Shermanator was an NBA-caliber player solely based on his OT performance.
  17. QUOTE (zenryan @ Feb 9, 2013 -> 02:55 PM) Kinda weird being a Miami fan right now. It's been a long time since I didnt have to scoreboard watch other bubble teams. If they keep this up, you are gonna have to scoreboard watch the other potential #1 seeds.
  18. QUOTE (iamshack @ Feb 8, 2013 -> 06:37 PM) Originally, pretty much WTF? I was driving in the car with sports radio on when they made the announcement, I had to double check if it was April Fools Day. It was so out of nowhere, definitely a major WTF.
  19. QUOTE (GoSox05 @ Feb 8, 2013 -> 03:55 PM) Why do you think he will be a bust? Because he's 1/10th the man Mike Taylor is.
  20. QUOTE (iamshack @ Feb 8, 2013 -> 03:14 PM) It's not about Felix...the point I was making was that Safeco transforms average pitchers into very good ones. Considering that, an elite arm may not have nearly the value to them that it may have to other teams...so I think a good idea would have been to trade him for some young position players with good bats, because that is obviously their organizational weakness. Essentially, if you are long on pitching, pitching doesn't have as much value as hitting has, which they are short on. I see your point. In that park, the gap between Felix and other starters is lowered, so it makes less sense to pay him so much. Although that only accounts for half your games. What's funny is that the Mariners were 8th in MLB in runs scored on the road last year. So either their offense was much better than we thought, or leaving Safeco gave them a breakout effect, like the opposite of what happens to the Rockies on the road.
  21. QUOTE (iamshack @ Feb 8, 2013 -> 01:37 PM) Well, if bringing in the fences does indeed negate the extreme pitchers' park Safeco has always been, then maybe it isn't as bad...although I still would have some concerns about the guy's arm...in the last few years of that deal, he's going to have a ton of mileage on him. His career ERA on the road is only 0.11 higher than at Safeco. Let's not act like Felix is solely a product of his home park. This ain't Clayton Richard we are talking about.
  22. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Feb 8, 2013 -> 02:59 PM) MLB Trade Rumors ‏@mlbtraderumors Marlins Sign Chone Figgins Damn, Ozzie missed out by a year on Juan Pierre v 2.0.
  23. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Feb 7, 2013 -> 04:49 PM) Committed Indians ‎(somewhat) Major Trade News: The Islanders have acquired G Tim Thomas from Boston for a conditional 2nd-rounder in either 2014 or 2015. Still no word if/when he'll dress/play. They get upset about the Hossa/Luongo/Kovy deals, but then a team trades for a guy who isn't gonna play just to reach the salary floor. That's ridiculous. I think the "condition" is that Thomas has to play one game for the Isles, or the draft pick stays in NY.
  24. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Feb 8, 2013 -> 09:48 AM) Urlacher wasn't a physical specimen or a guy who ran a 4.4, he came out as a smart player who finished his tackle. Hating on Teo has become a national past-time, but he has the football smarts (and those only) to captain an NFL defense. That said, there's bigger fish to fry in the first round than MLB, but he'd fit in there nicely. Teo's football smarts were greatly increased by two of the best DTs in the country taking blockers out left & right.
  25. QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Feb 8, 2013 -> 08:31 AM) Two is huge. Have they beaten anyone away from home? I feel like all their big wins this year are at home. Iowa & Purdue. But they still have to visit OSU, Michigan, MSU & Minnesota. What a brutal second half schedule.
