Sox vs Carmines
QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 30, 2008 -> 06:46 PM) How come s***ty speedy leadoff hitters like Ellsbury, Gomez, and Taveras mess us up? Well, Ellsbury is the most talented player on the Red Sox, Gomez is the best player ever, and Tavares is under-rated.

43 minutes until Illinois/Mizzou, thank God. Is it just me, or is this game over?

Sox vs Carmines
QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 30, 2008 -> 05:42 PM) Screw that...make Buehrle suck up the innings tonight. Right. Let's just give up now, let him give up 8 runs in 4 innings.

QUOTE (PlaySumFnJurny @ Aug 30, 2008 -> 05:33 PM) I don't think defectors are too welcome to go back there. That's true. PS: About your sig, I don't think they said that the day they won it all. I thought it was screamed by Crede in mid to late September...

With Gustavo mashing Cuba, does this mean Ramirez is going to miss some games? Hope not, after that shot. 3-1.

QUOTE (chimpy2121 @ Aug 30, 2008 -> 02:01 PM) The ACC sucks. It's Clemson's for the taking. Bowling Green up 10 on Pitt in Pitt with 9 minutes to go, and BGSU has the ball.

QUOTE (Heads22 @ Aug 29, 2008 -> 04:18 PM) The 9 combined turnovers was a bit much. I will say, this is the hardest I've ever seen an ISU team hit. They went with the USC jersey design this year, eh?

Twins Watch Thread 2008
About Cleveland- to win 2/3 from them Monday-Wednesday could seal away their season. However, if they sweep us or win 2/3, they could be only 7 or 8 out. Also- 6-0 Twins.

BLACKJACK Hopefully he's in the booth full-time with Farmer next year when Stone goes with Hawk.

White Sox @ Red Sox 8-29
QUOTE (Tony82087 @ Aug 29, 2008 -> 09:10 PM) Even with a different agent, I'm not sure at this point the Sox would want him back, and at this point thats a good thing. Thank God. *Bob Uecker voice in ML*

White Sox @ Red Sox 8-29
Who would you guys rather trade for in the offseason- Beltre, or Roberts? And why?

QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 29, 2008 -> 07:36 PM) Kalapse, where are you to comment on that weak fly ball by Crede to right field? Screw it, just trade for Huff and put him at 3rd base. His defense will suck, but it's not like it would be worse than Crede this year or Fields next year. Maybe Fields will go with Broadway and Anderson to Seattle for Beltre? Although, it will probably take another guy. Richard? Shelby? Egbert?

USC @ Virginia might be a bit of a trap game for my Trojans. However, I think they'll come out of Cavalier-Land with a 14-17 point win. BTW- I like Mizzou over Illinois by a TD, and Clemson over 'Bama by 4.

Shelby & Retherford - Carolina League All Stars
QUOTE (Tony82087 @ Aug 29, 2008 -> 07:29 PM) The Sox, unless something terrible happens, should be playoff contendors next season. You really would be ok with Shelby, an OF that has never seen AA, to start in CF for the MLB club under any circumstance? Again, I have never seen Shelby play. I have no idea how pro-ready he may be, so it was a question, but it was more of a question to get a scouting report out of someone. QUOTE (scenario @ Aug 29, 2008 -> 07:29 PM) I think Quentin will end up moving to RF and so Shelby would be in left. I forgot about the rumors that Q is a "really good" defensive RF'er.

We're bad against good teams
QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 29, 2008 -> 08:28 PM) Before tonight, we had been playing very close games against these teams. Simply put, these teams have good starting pitchers, and our offense feasts on inferior pitching. Plus, a good starter always dominates a good offense. See- us vs Boston in the 2005 ALDS (they scored 8 runs in 3 games) and us vs LAA in the 2005 ALCS (they scored something like 11 runs in 4 games).

What's your ring size? I'm taking the 2016 WS Champs ring sizes now in advance.

Shelby & Retherford - Carolina League All Stars
QUOTE (scenario @ Aug 29, 2008 -> 07:24 PM) Too quick. I think he'll have 2 more years in the minors before we see him in Chicago. He could be part of the youth movement with Danks and Beckham though. They'll probably all be coming up pretty close to the same time. So then, Danks in CF and Shelby in RF? Then Beckham at SS/2B and Alexei at SS/2B (or Beckham or Ramirez at 3B and then make Getz the 2B). Quentin in LF. Swisher at 1B. Who knows at C and 3B?

I think we're now 9-13 or 9-14 against TB, LAA, and BOS this year. Not good.
