  1. Side note: From November 21-23, they are having one of those autograph shows at Rosemont- Quentin will be there signing autographs. Not sure on the price, but he recently did a private signing which was around $100 per. Just thought I'd throw this out there.
  2. Nothing would please me more then watching Dye hit a ball 400 feet off this slow-a** steroid boy here.
  3. QUOTE (fathom @ Sep 2, 2008 -> 06:58 PM) Agreed...AJP was a significantly bigger free agent acquisition than Iguchi. Him, too. Iguchi was the 1st who came to mind, though. DJC
  4. QUOTE (ChiSox_Sonix @ Sep 2, 2008 -> 07:52 PM) Dye signing >>>>> Iguchi signing I never said it wasn't. I said "for sure" to his statement. I was just saying that the Iguchi one was a huge sleeper signing as well.
  5. QUOTE (Brian @ Sep 2, 2008 -> 07:50 PM) Best free agent signing in White Sox history. For sure. Iguchi was a good one, too.
  6. QUOTE (letsgoarow @ Sep 2, 2008 -> 07:47 PM) meanwhile... 3 spot by Blue Jays...5-4
  7. Okay here we go. Split the lead in half. Please hold the lead, DJC.
  8. QUOTE (ChiSox_Sonix @ Sep 2, 2008 -> 07:23 PM) Only other option is Brian Anderson. What's so bad about that? His defense is far superior and he couldn't be any worse at the plate.
  9. Like I saidy yesterday, we're just killing the ball lately. Hawk is a dope, yet he knows damn well that against a sinker-baller like Carmona, you have to try to just hit line drives and go with the pitches. Instead, we're trying to pull pitches that are low and away or high and away. What the hell are we doing? Do we want 1st place? It doesn't matter, because after we get shutout again and the Twins finish off Toronto tonight (currently up 5-1), then we won't be in 1st.
  10. QUOTE (tommy @ Sep 2, 2008 -> 03:11 PM) Griffey not playing, Carlos scratched due to forearm soreness, his replacement... Jerry Owens. Mark Buehrle left the team to be with his wife. Swisher in LF and BA in CF then, probably.
  11. Sweet. Nobody beats SoxFan1's, though.
  12. QUOTE (santo=dorf @ Sep 2, 2008 -> 01:00 PM) I already went to the last one so unless the Sox are close to clinching, I don't think I'll be heading down there. I know it was under construction, but Kauffman might be the worst stadium I've ever been to. The giant scoreboard is awesome and I'm hoping the Sox will spend the money to get one, but the concourse is sooo minor leaguish. Except for the ends, they have the same set of restaurants repeating throughout the area. The beer places are stuffed in the back where you order at one register and walk over to another to pay. Then there are the chicken stands which are perpendicular to the main stands, and they have two lines but you would have no idea. one faces the concourse, and the other faces the entrance to the ball park. So there's one were with people lined up around the corner on the concourse, and the other barely has anyone in it because they aren't sure if they're cutting the rest of the line. The bathrooms are also disgusting. There's also NOTHING but primative baptist churches (that's what it says on the door) by the Shearton hotel which is very close to the stadium. It might be the shortest way for me to see the Sox, but KC is f***ing dump. It's not so bad. The food is pretty cheap, yet the fans are d*cks and the weather sucks. Not to mention there isn't much to do around the city. I did stay at that Sheraton, and it was nice. The waterpark, I hear, is awesome.
  13. QUOTE (fathom @ Sep 1, 2008 -> 11:19 PM) So if they want Fields/Broadway for Beltre, don't you think there's 5 other teams that will beat that package? They asked for Slowey, Blackburn, or Perkins from the Twins, along with another prospect. Their asking price will drop a little in the offseason, even though Beltre's on quite the tear right now (raising his value). That's true. It was just a suggestion. I'd rather have Roberts anyway- a .300 AVG guy, with a .380 OBP and 40+ SB every year. When we won, we had a leadoff guy. Roberts would give that to us.
  14. QUOTE (fathom @ Sep 1, 2008 -> 11:12 PM) Beltre will want more than what Crede wants. Why trade all of your prospects (Beltre would likely cost us Poreda) for a one year rental? Also, I did say that 2b/3b are big holes. First off- my fault, I thought it said "aren't". Secondly- the Mariners aren't going to want tons for Beltre. If they think they will get our best pitching prospect for a .260 hitter with a gold glove for 1 year, they're nuts. They'll likely want Fields and Broadway, and that's fine with me. It'd probably be impossible to get both Roberts and Beltre, but it all depends on how much Baltimore would want for their 1-year rental. QUOTE (fathom @ Sep 1, 2008 -> 11:17 PM) There's a better chance of Hank Blalock being our 3rd baseman next year than Beltre. I'm a big fan of Beltre's, but he's become very overrated on this site (Eric Chavez-esque). I wouldn't mind that, except that he's probably going to want Crede money as well and for a guy who gets hurt every year, I'd probably pass.
  15. QUOTE (fathom @ Sep 1, 2008 -> 10:06 PM) Who are all these great prospects we have to trade for? Also, do you really think KW will trade for Beltre, who is a Boras client heading into his walk season. The 5th starter spot, 3rd base, and 2nd base are the biggest holes by far. Are you serious? Who cares? It's called "don't negotiate with him" then. Keep him for the year, and let him walk. If he isn't going to want tons per year, then maybe sign him to a 2-4 year deal, but if he's going to want what Crede does, screw it. And BTW- how can you think 3rd and 2nd aren't big holes? Going into next year, we might have Getz and Fields at those spots, and that would be brutal.
  16. Trade for Brian Roberts and Adrian Beltre. Sign or trade for a good/great relief pitcher as Linebrink clearly can't be counted on for a full season.
  17. IlliniKrush, You said it best- that UCLA game was ridiculous. Time well spent watching that.
  18. We've just been murdering the ball as of late.
  19. 1-4 now in our last 5 games, with a whopping 9 runs scored.
