  1. QUOTE (BigHurt3515 @ Oct 14, 2015 -> 05:41 PM) The rule is that is still a live ball if the ump thinks there was no intent of the batter to get in the way of the catcher. At least that is what they said on the TV broadcast a few times. I don't think Choo had any intent of getting in the way, I feel like he does that same move all the time. If that's the rule, then yeah. Choo had no intention of blocking the throw.
  2. The two errors by Andrus are just unacceptable, especially for a good defensive player like him.
  3. QUOTE (greg775 @ Oct 14, 2015 -> 01:45 AM) Any predictions? I say Stros 7, Royals 2. Cueto is the addition that didn't pan out. Not betting the house this time huh?
  4. QUOTE (Flash Tizzle @ Oct 14, 2015 -> 12:57 PM) All under the assumption LA wins: There should be no other choice than optimizing Kershaw and Greinke. If I'm losing a series it's going to be off of those two. Game 1: Kershaw - Three days rest Game 2: Greinke - Three days rest Game 3: Wood/Anderson Game 4: Kershaw - Three days rest Game 5: Greinke - Three days rest Game 6: Wood/Anderson Game 7: Kershaw - Three days rest I'd personally rather throw out this schedule, relying on three days rest for the entire series, then a schedule such as: Game 1: Wood/Anderson Game 2: Kershaw - Four days rest Game 3: Greinke - Five days rest Game 4: Wood/Anderson Game 5: Kershaw - Three days rest Game 6: Greinke - Three days rest Game 7: Wood/Anderson Three potential starts of a non Kershaw/Greinke combo, including a possible Game 7, is terrible. All the more incentive for LA to give the Cubs their aces, end the series as quick as possible, then rest for the world series. Lose with your best. Worry about their arms falling off later They're not going with Kershaw on 3 days rest again... Ideally, you don't want Wood or Anderson to start, but they should probably throw Wood out there and see how it goes. I'd rather them win the 4 games Greinke/Kershaw start than have both pitchers go out there tired and not be as effective.
  5. QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Oct 14, 2015 -> 11:08 AM) Ageee. Wait to beat them first haha I don't remember many articles about the Sox going to the WS after we swept the ALDS in 2005. Hell, World Series talk didn't really start until after game 4 of the ALCS, when it was pretty evident the Sox had the series in the bag.
  6. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Oct 14, 2015 -> 10:28 AM) I tried getting into hockey the year before they won it all. Really liked Havlat. Oh well. I'll pull for them but won't claim to be a fan/die hard, but you're right. I could probably name more players than most bandwagoners. I kinda jump on the Blackhawks bandwagon every time they're in the playoffs, but I'm not gonna act like I've been there the whole time or tell opposing teams' fans to suck it.
  7. QUOTE (whitesoxjr27 @ Oct 14, 2015 -> 09:33 AM) Can't these people wait until they beat the dodgers or mets to say stuff like this? You'd think for a fanbase who has seen so much losing and so many postseason collapses, they would, you know, be more discrete and superstitious about all of it.
  8. I'm really glad I don't live in Chicago right now. Nobody talked s*** to me or anything, even the one guy who's a Cubs fan on my softball team.
  9. QUOTE (whitesoxfan99 @ Oct 13, 2015 -> 04:51 PM) Terrific decision by Matheney to bring back John Lackey on 3 days rest to get 3 bad innings out of him. Lynn or Garcia probably would have done better. But then again, 4 runs in 3 innings isn't hard to beat.
  10. Are they going to pinch hit for Lackey?
  11. So bunting with Wong backfired.
  12. QUOTE (AustinIllini @ Oct 13, 2015 -> 04:44 PM) Cubs are 7-0 against the Mets. They should be favored. The Mets after they acquired Cespedes were a completely different team. If I remember right, the Cubs played all their games against the Mets early in the season.
  13. About f***ing time. You can't protect catchers and not protect infielders. Plus, this protects baserunners as well. How many times have we seen base runners get concussions or head injuries from take out slides? Morneau basically ruined his career doing that.
  14. Hammel goes 3 innings.
  15. QUOTE (Mike F. @ Oct 13, 2015 -> 04:39 PM) I'm thinking that they will. The Mets starting pitching is way stronger than the Cardinals depleted rotation at this point and I think the argument could be made that the Mets offense is better too. The Cubs are in trouble. And believe it or not, the Mets actually have a decent offense. Cespedes, Wright, d'Arnaud, Duda, Granderson, Conforto all with good power.
  16. QUOTE (Harry Chappas @ Oct 13, 2015 -> 04:37 PM) First baseball series win to occur in the city of Chicago in 108 years. I can't believe this is actually true. We didn't clinch any of our series at home in 2005. Cubs clinched the DS in Atlanta in 2003 as well.
  17. I said from the beginning of the playoffs that the Cardinals would lose to either the Cubs or Pirates in the DS. They're just too banged up and pretty much all of their pitchers overachieved their peripherals. I just hoped the Cubs would crap themselves under the pressure their fans create. Looks like that didn't exactly happen.
  18. I can't believe Lackey gave up a hit to Hammel and then gave up a 3 run shot right afterwards. God damn the Cardinals suck.
  19. Arrieta looked human today. Too bad the Cardinals pitching sucked.
  20. QUOTE (fathom @ Oct 12, 2015 -> 05:27 PM) Arrieta getting a huge zone so far, yay Doesn't look too bad on gameday.
  21. I didn't think it was even possible to hit a double of Arrieta.
  22. QUOTE (shipps @ Oct 12, 2015 -> 05:01 PM) If you don't really watch baseball and you have any relation with the city of Chicago at all you are definitely one of those members. That makes up a huge portion of their fans I would bet. I feel as if the fans in NY actually like baseball a lot. Plus the Yankees are there and they're usually good, so they get more hardcore fans. The Dodgers are usually good too, as are the Angels, so the fans in LA actually have a reason to follow the sport. The Cubs are usually bad and people around Chicago say they're Cubs fans but in reality, they probably watch one or two games a year on a regular basis.
  23. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Oct 12, 2015 -> 04:56 PM) Wow, David Price in the 5th inning with a 6 run lead. Marcus Stroman in game 5? Wh...why? What the hell is Gibbons thinking?
  24. I swear, the Cubs have more bandwagon fans than any other team in baseball.
  25. Jays are going to get a game 5 it looks like. As long as Price doesn't choke, they should advance.
