  1. QUOTE (Eminor3rd @ Jan 29, 2014 -> 03:22 PM) Insane how many people think you can trade draft picks. These aren't even baseball fans, lol. I haven't met a single baseball fan in real life that's as intelligent about baseball as some of ones I've come across online. A lot of them don't know a lot about sabermetrics (expected) and some even tell me anecdotes that aren't even remotely true. I guess it's a lot easier to sound smarter when you can Google before you post. However, I've caught quite a few errors when talking to baseball fans in real life. It's not that they're not fans, they probably just don't pay as much attention to the game as some of us do.
  2. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Jan 28, 2014 -> 03:07 PM) Always fun when some s***brain tells me what is and what isn't good music. I listen to music for entertainment and background noise when I workout and code. I know some others (like the guy who wrote that article) are paid to critique it for content and meaning, but I can care less. It comes off as extremely high brow to me.
  3. QUOTE (Jake @ Jan 26, 2014 -> 11:08 AM) I'm surprisingly fond of the Google Experience Launcher The left swipe for Google Now is nice, but I can't live without the customization on Nova. I get the transparent status bar and navigation bar with Nova, that's enough for me to not use GEL.
  4. Wow, the Clippers just put up 41 on the Bulls in the first quarter.
  5. QUOTE (bmags @ Jan 24, 2014 -> 01:18 PM) GMAILS DOWN GMAILS DOWN AHHHHH Google going down is like major news.
  6. I bought league pass and I've watched maybe 2 games on it. I probably won't watch many more. The Bulls just aren't interesting, even if they get in as a 4 or 5 seed. There's literally nothing to actually look forward to with this team this season.
  7. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Jan 22, 2014 -> 11:26 PM) Of course he sounds like it, he is an expert in s*** talking. It was barely 5 seconds after Crabtree's dreams were crushed, that's not the time to go show respect. The two guys obviously dislike each other and talked s*** all game, Sherman made sure he got the final jab in. It's a smart move. You really can't prove he was being sarcastic and he can make a case he was just trying to shake Crabtree's hand.
  8. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Jan 22, 2014 -> 09:38 PM) Fantasy question. I'm in 1st place (w/Durant) and lost my 2nd point guard (1st rose, then Jrue) but have Isiah whose been good. Considering a Rubio/Love for Lee/Dirk deal. I'd be getting Rubio and Love. Does that make sense? Yeah, it makes a ton of sense for you. Love is a tier above Dirk and Lee and Rubio will get you the assists you're going to need with Holiday out.
  9. So it appears that Sherman actually did want to shake Crabtree's hand after the interception: http://deadspin.com/sherman-crabtree-watch...p-hi-1507040069
  10. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Jan 22, 2014 -> 02:08 PM) Prince Fielder was making $4M/year with the Tigers according to him. Also, the Cubs have the best minor league system and are thus setup because they're all sure fire hits. Abreu, Garcia, EJ, Semien, Webb, Davidson, and Eaton are all likely to fail. And he would have gotten away with it if it wasn't for that meddling internet. Seriously, can you imagine the days before the internet where you can say s*** like that and people will believe you since they can't easily fact-check?
  11. QUOTE (Jake @ Jan 22, 2014 -> 03:49 PM) I remember getting into an argument with a Cubs fan teammate back in high school. I asked him what he has to say about the Sox winning a World Series in 2005 while it's been almost 100 years longer since the Cubs did. "Wins don't matter, bro" Spoken like a true Cubs fan.
  12. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Jan 22, 2014 -> 01:04 PM) Just had a Cubs fan tell me Sox were never in on Tanaka, Sox have the worst front office in baseball, have done nothing to improve their MLB team or farm system the past five years, Sale's contract is worthless if they don't trade him. Cubs were a playoff team with Tanaka and Tigers signed Joba for the same amount they used to pay Fielder. f***ing idiot. Wut.
  13. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Jan 22, 2014 -> 03:52 PM) Sherman touched on the "thug = n*****" correlation. I agree with him. I still think he's a douche, but there are some people criticizing him unfairly which is making me sympathetic towards him which I hate. I also think it's weird that people keep using the word "thug", it's not like what Sherman did was considered criminal or violent. If you go look up what the word thug means on a dictionary.com, you get definitions like "a vicious criminal or ruffian" and "a tough and violent man, esp a criminal". I don't think that describes Sherman's actions as a poor sportsman.
  14. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Jan 22, 2014 -> 09:20 AM) As awful as the Pro Bowl is, I believe last year's game had higher ratings than Game 1 of the 2012 World Series. Wow, that's just sad.
  15. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Jan 21, 2014 -> 04:25 PM) Dude just deflected a ton of media attention from a 2nd year, young QB. Seems brilliant to me. It'd be a bit more brilliant if Peyton Manning was his QB, but I don't know if the story line for the SB would have centered around Wilson had Sherman not done what he did. It would have been about whether or not Peyton can win another ring with another team.
  16. QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Jan 21, 2014 -> 04:25 PM) If you are going to be subjective. But if objectively we quantify intelligence by IQ, then it has nothing to do with success. If you want to go even farther than that Mr. lawyer, we can talk about how IQ isn't a 100% objective way to define intelligence.
  17. So are some of you seriously thinking that people are making a big deal out of this Sherman thing just because he's black? I know the extremely racist people of this country may think that way, but I'd like to think they're not the majority. If Sherman was white, Asian, Hispanic, native American, whatever race you want to come up with and acted the way he did after the play, during the interview, and after the game, I would think of him in the same way as an arrogant ass with no sportsmanship.
  18. QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Jan 21, 2014 -> 04:18 PM) But it also doesnt mean that hes smarter than someone at a community college who just never tried and let their brilliance go to waste. Meh, part of being smart is to not let your brilliance (whatever it may be) go to waste.
  19. QUOTE (Chilihead90 @ Jan 21, 2014 -> 02:44 PM) Call me crazy, but grades don't mean everything. You can be socially inept and come off like a gigantic idiot, even if you are really good at retaining information from your Anthropology classes. I know plenty of people who got terrible grades, but are actually really smart. And people who aren't every smart that got great grades. It's more about effort than intelligence. So yes, in the times I have seen Sherman on TV, my impression of him is that he is a big f***ing idiot who can't control his emotions and looks clinically insane. Depends on what you're studying. You can get away with just trying hard in a lot of fields. However, you can't tell me that a theoretical physicist from MIT is where he is just because he tried hard. It's a combination of effort and intelligence.
  20. Just think, if you eliminate the extra point, how can Tony Romo botch a snap on the PAT to lose his team the game?
  21. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Jan 19, 2014 -> 10:40 PM) Yeah. Too bad he doesn't hang out on message boards making fun of athletes. He's such a failure in life. I'm pretty sure Richard Sherman's a smart guy, but a 3.7 GPA in communications isn't proof he is.
  22. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jan 19, 2014 -> 09:34 PM) Moose Bassitt ‏@Moose_419 24m If anyone was wondering, Richard Sherman graduated with a 3.7 GPA from Stanford University in Communication Ha, that's not much of an accomplishment.
  23. QUOTE (pettie4sox @ Jan 19, 2014 -> 09:11 PM) CRABTREEEEEEEE ARRRGGGGH! =) The tone in which she said that was hilarious. It sounded like she was scared as s***.
  24. QUOTE (pettie4sox @ Jan 19, 2014 -> 09:01 PM) That s*** was still funny though. Erin Andrews face was priceless. "Who was talking about you?"
  25. QUOTE (pettie4sox @ Jan 19, 2014 -> 08:57 PM) I heard Sherman was actually a pretty smart guy, it's sad that he decides to be all hood like that. He went to Stanford and apparently had good grades (you kind of need to to get into Stanford, even as a football player). I'm pretty sure it's all a persona to intimidate his opponents, but it's just f***ing annoying.
