QUOTE (greg775 @ Oct 11, 2014 -> 10:13 PM) A lot "on here?" Blame the White Sox front office and coaches. He was a headcase in Chicago with all those mental mistakes on the basepaths and miscues in the outfield. The Sox pretty much were forced to dump him for little to nothing in return. Even Hawk and Stoney got on him on TV he was so bad. If he's a great ballplayer, it doesn't look good that the Sox were not able to bring it out of him. People on here absolutely s*** on De Aza whenever they got the opportunity, you included.

I got a free Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 with my ATT Gigapower. I used it for 5 minutes and decided I didn't want it. Touchwiz is just awful. I can't imagine how Samsung can take the stock Android UI and just crap all over it.

Ebola in the USA
QUOTE (greg775 @ Oct 9, 2014 -> 02:27 PM) How would the deputy get it then if he merely was in the guy's apartment checking it out? Guy leaves body fluids in apartment, deputy gets exposed somehow. It's not even proven that the deputy has ebola.

QUOTE (flavum @ Oct 9, 2014 -> 12:08 PM) Game 1 looking wet in Baltimore. Would be interesting if they had to play 5 days in row. Both teams have 5 guys they can start. But not having Shields for game 4 could hurt the Royals more than the O's.

2014-2015 MLB off season player movement and rumors thread
QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Oct 9, 2014 -> 12:10 PM) Hardy back with the O's at 3 years 40 million. O's also trying to reach an extension with Nelson Cruz. I have to wonder how long Hardy's has until his defense deteriorates. He hasn't exactly been a great hitter the past three years. $13 million a year to a 3 WAR shortstop is a no-brainer in this market, but you have to wonder how long Hardy can sustain that production.

2014 TV thread
QUOTE (MEANS @ Oct 9, 2014 -> 11:48 AM) Yeah I haven't laughed that hard in a while, especially when Stan just passed out and fell over. I love how each episode is connected this season. I also read that Matt and Trey tried the whole Gluten free thing and still are gluten free as well as the people who's names on the credits have GF by their name. Well of course, who would want their dick to fly off?

Last night's SP was hilarious. They actually got Lorde to guest-star on the show (at least a lot of people think they did).

Technology catch-all thread
QUOTE (Y2HH @ Oct 8, 2014 -> 11:19 AM) I'm not sure how useful multi-windows is on small screens, beyond a few use cases. My monitor at home is 27" and it's quite useful to have multiple windows open side by side by side, but on sub 17" monitors, I tend to just full screen everything because of the limited space. I think this issue compounds itself on even smaller tablet sized screens which are already limited for productivity apps which tend to require a lot of space, especially when considering the virtual keyboard...and I highly doubt people are connecting 6" phones to a external keyboard in most cases. The only real use for something like this that I can see actually wanting to use is one window being music controls/spotify (for people who use it), and the other being maps for driving around. A lot of people like texting/messaging while watching videos. That's the main use for it on mobile.

QUOTE (Jake @ Oct 7, 2014 -> 08:22 PM) They're making the next Nexus that big to get developers a reference device for that screen size That could be one reason. But if they released a 5 inch phone again, the multi-window feature wouldn't be all that useful.

QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Oct 7, 2014 -> 03:32 PM) You know who I like and think is underrated, Alex Smith. He'd have been the type of guy that would have been a nice fit in Trestman's offense. I'm not writing off Jay yet but Bears obviously need to hit on the talent devlopment part. That is somewhere we have sucked and have started to see some offensive talent development and now need to see it on the defensive side. I really like Fuller and our young DT's. They all look like players. I want a QB who can actually throw down-field and be good at it. Smith rarely throws the ball farther than 15 yards (before the catch is made that is).

QUOTE (raBBit @ Oct 7, 2014 -> 01:15 PM) I like Morse. I just think the Sox are not going to plug up the LF spot with a guy who can't field and hits right-handed. Now if the Sox could satisfy the left-handed need in LF and then bring in Morse to DH I would be more inclined the buy into it. Yeah, I wouldn't want him in the OF either. I like him as a DH candidate.

Technology catch-all thread
http://www.androidpolice.com/2014/10/07/an...ns-for-android/ Google's thinking about implementing multi-window in Android (not the Samsung or LG implementation, which limits what apps you can use). If this is the case, then upping the size of the next Nexus to 5.9 inches makes sense.

QUOTE (raBBit @ Oct 7, 2014 -> 11:39 AM) "if he were left-handed maybe..." His splits were nearly identical last year. He hit for more power off lefties, but had a batting average 50 points higher off righties. That's been the case throughout his entire career. Morse, if healthy, wouldn't be a bad budget add. You can stick him 5th or 6th and expect decent production.

QUOTE (knightni @ Oct 7, 2014 -> 11:14 AM) Morse would be a reclaim special. He had an off year this year. He can play some 1B and DH. Unfortunately, his OF days are behind him. Not really. He hit .279/.336/.475 in a very pitcher-friendly park. I'd be fine with him as a DH.

Is Corey Hart worth a shot?
I'd rather take a shot with someone who wasn't really bad this year.

I lost by less than a point. Had Nick Foles not fumbled when nobody touched him on his awkward head-first slide (who the hell does that?), I would have won. God damn you Nick Foles.

I'm not sure why Bumgarner went to third on the throw, he didn't have a good chance at getting the runner. Way bigger risk than reward there.

KW "We're a lot closer than the record indicates"
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Oct 6, 2014 -> 04:13 PM) He was pretty steadily between 92-93 on his fastball, and he went from 93 to just over 90 this year. Any injury talk? I didn't realize there was that kind of drop off. With his weird throwing motion, I wouldn't doubt that he's hurt. He's thrown a lot of innings in the past 5 years.

QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Oct 6, 2014 -> 05:13 PM) It's not like I'm looking that hard for reasons to criticize him... he makes the case for me. You literally said you thought it was a good thing a call didn't go the Bears way. Think about that.

2014 AL Central catch-all thread
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Oct 6, 2014 -> 04:56 PM) 2 hitters. Someone to cover DH and someone to cover a corner OF slot. And even then, that leaves a whole lot of risky holes. If we assume Flowers starts next year, we need a corner OFer and a DH. Maybe a 3B. Here's some guys we can look at through free agency: DH/1B/3B Billy Butler (he has a team option at 12.5 MM) Mike Morse Adam Lind (team option) Adam LaRoche (mutual option) Hanley Ramirez Pablo Sandoval Chase Headley Nelson Cruz Victor Martinez OF Nelson Cruz Melky Cabrera Josh Willingham Colby Rasmus Michael Cuddyer Alex Rios Torii Hunter Nothing really sticks out at me as someone we must go after. I really don't want to spend the money on V-Mart, but he's clearly the best hitter in here. Cruz's year was very up and down and I feel like he's truly a .350 wOBA hitter. While good, it ain't that much better than Adam Dunn and you don't want to play him in the OF. He's going to get overpaid just like Martinez. I'm not sure how much money Hanley will get, but he wouldn't be a bad short-term signing for around $15 million a year. It'd be a gamble, but I'd rather give him that money than Martinez. I like the idea of Adam Lind since he's left-handed and should be pretty cheap, but I think Toronto will bring him back at $7.5 million. Sandoval is a decent option and he should be a decent hitter moving from SF to the Cell. He also plays 3B. I doubt SF will let him walk though. I feel like there's no sure bets in FA this year in terms of hitters, so we're gonna have to trade for someone.

We need a good middle of the order hitter, 2 good relievers, and a good right handed starter if we want to contend.
