  1. QUOTE (Jake @ Mar 15, 2013 -> 08:57 PM) Any Nexus updates forthcoming? No LTE, expandable storage, large internal storage options, and a few other things available for that ATM. You don't want expandable memory. I know that sounds weird, but there are good reasons that Google decided to only ship phones with internal storage (other than the fact they want you to use their web services). The issue with SD cards is that it can be a hell of a lot slower than internal, depending on what cards you buy. If you've ever used an Android phone with an SD slot, you will understand how messy it can get. Some apps fail to scan the SD card, even some music apps and you end up trying to figure out how you can get your music to show up right. I would love some extra space on my Nexus 4 and put a ton of videos and movies on there, but I'd much rather have it in the form of a 32 GB internal rather than an SD card slot. I honestly don't think not having LTE is a big deal. You're getting 42 Mbps HSPA+, which usually means anywhere from 10 Mbps to 25 Mbps on a consistent basis with T-Mobile (should be around the same for AT&T, not sure though). People say HSPA+ has bad latency, but it's not really bad (70-100 ms pings), it's just not as good as LTE's ping times. Now I've never owned an LTE device, so I may be blind in terms of just how awesome it is, but I don't feel like I'm really missing out. Unless you get 50 Mbps on Verizon, I don't think LTE is that much better. And it's looking like Motorola will come out with a Nexus-esque phone at Google I/O and they'll sell it at a fairly cheap price. I may be looking to buy that when it does come out as well if it's as mind-blowingly awesome as some say it will be.
  2. QUOTE (Jake @ Mar 15, 2013 -> 08:10 PM) Looking at all of these Android phones that have come out recently, they all have some big negatives. Samsung S4 - Touchwiz (LOTS of negatives wrapped into this one), plastic backing HTC One - no expandable storage, doesn't come with 4.2 (and has poor reputation for rolling out updates), Sense interface, low-ish power battery Sony Xperia Z - waterproofing makes screen look like s***, bigger-than-need-be design, doesn't come with 4.2, questions about proprietary software add-ons, questions about Sony in general One of the lessons here is they should quit f***ing with the standard Android OS Buy a Nexus. And you will be able to flash custom ROMs on the One and S4, I have no doubts about that. It might just take longer for it to happen.
  3. QUOTE (Y2HH @ Mar 15, 2013 -> 10:15 AM) It will. But this poses more of an issue with me than not, as this also means your pocket can activate touch, etc...I've never seen the need, even in cold weather, that I can activate my phone with gloves on. It seems counter to the idea behind non-accidental touch. Seems like a "feature" to add simply to have a feature to add, but I don't think it's a good one. I hope others don't follow suit on this idea and keep it the way it is, I don't need my phone doing random things in my pocket because any sort of touch can activate things. How will your pocket activate touch? I'm fairly sure it's only active when the screen is on. Anything otherwise would be a huge waste of battery. Unless you accidentally turn your phone on in your pocket (not likely), I don't think it can happen.
  4. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Mar 15, 2013 -> 08:32 AM) I thought I read somewhere that the S4's touch screen will work even if you have gloves on. You can hover over the screen with your hand.
  5. QUOTE (Y2HH @ Mar 15, 2013 -> 10:57 AM) @BS, I think you may have ended up being right about that new Sony phone becoming the new standard bearer of high end Android phones...the GS4 looks more like a comparison of iPhone4 to the iPhoen4S. I may have to take a look at the Sony phone, despite it being ... bleh ... Sony, and then waiting to see the new Motorola X and the iPhone 5S (which I assume is what it will be). The Sony phone is great...except the speakers are awful and the screen's viewing angles suck. Other than that, it's a very good phone. In all honesty, out of the three big phones that have come out this year (Xperia Z, HTC One, S4), the best phone out of the bunch in terms of just hardware is probably the HTC One. Great screen, great speakers, great build. I really don't like HTC though. Sense sucks and they lock bootloaders.
  6. QUOTE (ZoomSlowik @ Mar 14, 2013 -> 01:35 PM) I was just watching Jalen Rose and Digger Phelps on ESPN talking about U of I/Minnesota/Iowa and they're fairly clueless. Their main point was that you shouldn't be in the tournament if you are under .500 in conference and Iowa could/should be in with a win over NU. THEY DIDN'T BEAT ANYONE THIS YEAR!!! Well, okay, that's a slight exaggeration: they beat Wisconsin, Illinois and Minnesota at home (and I guess Iowa State), but you just spent the last couple minutes s***ting all over the last two teams. The 4 teams that they only played once were MSU, Michigan, OSU and Illinois, so why should we care that they had one more conference win that Illinois and Minnesota? Was this on First Take? lol
  7. QUOTE (Boogua @ Mar 14, 2013 -> 01:30 PM) It's way too early to say that. Rice is going to be pretty big addition and I think Egwu is going to be a force next year. We also don't know about transfers (5th year seniors), how the freshmen will be, and other player progressions (Henry, Abrams, etc). I'd also like to see how Bertrand improves his game and how he'll do with a much bigger role on the team next year.
  8. QUOTE (bigruss22 @ Mar 14, 2013 -> 01:21 PM) I would drool over a 7 or better seed, seriously didn't think this team was going to make it at all going into the season. As long as we don't have to play the #1 seed in the round of 32, I'll be very happy.
  9. BP3 showed up when it counted. Great game.
  10. BP3 with a real good start.
  11. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Mar 13, 2013 -> 06:19 PM) Have you seen Hartline's new deal? Nobody is going to touch that I was kidding.
  12. QUOTE (Jake @ Mar 13, 2013 -> 07:35 PM) I thought I'd seen some cool stuff, but I haven't been keeping up faithfully. The question is, what kind of big flashy features could they come up with? They're doing some eye-tracking feature along with some hover features. I don't know how useful they'll actually be though. The phone itself will be a great piece of hardware, that much I do know.
  13. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Mar 13, 2013 -> 09:29 AM) Interesting. He has had some big moments for them. Always started big and faded, but IIRC he hit a pretty big homerun against Sale late last year Remember when Brennan Boesch was hitting .340 in 2010 and then fell off the face of the earth? I saw that one coming from miles away.
  14. Welker to the Broncos with Thomas and Decker? Holy s***. 1. That is an awesome receiving corps. 2. That is the whitest receiving corps I've ever seen with Welker, Stokley, and Decker (you can throw in Dressen and Tamme too). They should go get Brian Hartline and Kevin Walter too.
  15. The S4 is being announced tomorrow. Unfortunately, from the leaks so far, the device looks awfully similar to the S3... I guess Samsung is going with the "if it ain't broke, don't fix it" strategy now. My hope is that Samsung doesn't start becoming the Apple of the Android world, where they get extremely complacent and release incremental hardware updates. With how fast the Android market evolves, they'll eventually get overtaken with that kind of strategy.

QUOTE (CarlosMartinez @ Mar 13, 2013 -> 12:18 PM) They've made some nice additions from last years game. Something about 12 just felt boring and didn't keep me playing but so far 13 has taken me away from NBA 2k and NHL 13. Pitcher repertoires are much more accurate, 4 seam fastball isn't everyones #1 pitch. The new post season mode is extremely addictive while waiting for the full rosters to come out. The change in atmosphere is very noticable compared to a regular season or exhibition game. The hit variety is pretty impressive from bloopers falling just beyond the infield but before the outfielders, to line shots down the line bouncing around in the corner. Even routine infield ground outs seem to vary each time. I've yet to see a ball hit that didn't match up with where the pitch was at on my hitter. I've had jam shots pulled just over the left side of the infield and also balls hit off the end of the bat falling down the line for bloop singles. There's nice little additions in every MLB The Show game, which is why I get it every year. The game itself is great already, but the little additions just keep making it better.

QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Mar 12, 2013 -> 09:55 AM) Eh, MLB the Show has dedicated followers on OS Sports that crank out amazing rosters for previous versions. 2013 full minors rosters for MLB 12 the Show will be ready Opening Day Really, with the Marlins new park in last year's game, there's no reason to upgrade vs downloading those rosters above. It's just up to the user to not be stupid. I don't know if you actually read that thread or not, but I don't see anything about OSFM 13 being for MLB 12. It's usually only for that year's game unless somebody decides to port it to MLB 12 (or edit whatever last year's OSFM was).
  18. QUOTE (GoSox05 @ Mar 12, 2013 -> 04:37 PM) @nfldraftscout Per team, #Colts have signed LB Erik Walden, formally of #Packers. Thank god. Walden gave Cutler and the Bears o-line a real hard time.
  19. QUOTE (Boogua @ Mar 12, 2013 -> 03:23 PM) Going from the 5th worst rated TE (out of 62) to the 5th highest rated in Bennett. He isn't spectacular at anything, but he scored above average in everything (receiving, run block, pass block, etc) Good red zone weapon too. He's now the second best receiver on the team.
  20. QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Mar 12, 2013 -> 11:43 AM) Boras would be fine. Hed get the best deals first. He just uses the baseball system to his advantage. If if he was NFL, hed use their system to panic teams into offering money quick. Its the same game. Speaking of Boras, is Kyle Lohse even going to pitch this year?
  21. QUOTE (GoSox05 @ Mar 12, 2013 -> 03:02 PM) @nfldraftscout Can confirm: Chicago #Bears will be signing TE Martellus Bennett tonight. Oh hey, a TE that doesn't completely suck.
  22. USA not moving on to the second round would have been an embarrassment.
  23. QUOTE (kitekrazy @ Mar 8, 2013 -> 09:07 PM) You must be one of great patience to be silence among this cesspool of baseball stupidity. When did this Ramirez stuff get started? I'm going to assume it's because he didn't belt 72 HRs. It's the epitome of b****ing just to b****.
  24. QUOTE (Marty34 @ Mar 8, 2013 -> 08:41 PM) Why pay Ramirez $26M over the next 3 years when they aren't going to the postseason? Why pay anyone $26M over the next 3 years when they aren't going to the postseason? See, with that kind of pessimistic attitude, you might as well just end life as we know it right now.
  25. QUOTE (Andy the Clown @ Mar 8, 2013 -> 07:20 PM) I can read fangraphs too. Thanks though. No, see what it is as in how many WAR he had in 2012. I'm not saying you don't know what it is.
