QUOTE (kev211 @ Dec 22, 2011 -> 01:15 PM) Not one person picked thibs to repeat, and looking at the MVP predictions as well not one person picked Rose to repeat. DRose probably won't. His scoring numbers are going down with Rip on the team.

QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Dec 22, 2011 -> 01:23 AM) I've seen enough. The Clippers are a legitimate championship contender. Oh my goodness. Forget about Blake Griffin for a second. What planet is DeAndre Jordan from? How can you be that f***ing athletic at his size? He, IMO, will be the second best C in basketball when it's all said and done. The Clippers are the new Showtime. Two pre-season games is enough bro? You do know even the post-Jordan 90s and early 2000s Bulls won pre-season games right?

QUOTE (lostfan @ Dec 21, 2011 -> 11:03 PM) Rose isn't Ray Allen from downtown but it's not like he's a brick machine, either. During the season he was hitting those at .332 pretty consistently, really not bad. In the playoffs he lost his legs due to being completely worn out (.248, and it got worse as the playoffs went on) and started bricking. And it's because he had that ankle injury.

QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Dec 21, 2011 -> 09:47 PM) Skip Bayless "I love Derek Rose off the court, but as I sit and listen to you(stephen A smith) break it down, I do not love Derek Rose on the court" STFU Skip, anything you can say to be the opposite opinion that literally made my brain hurt. Bayless effectively caused brain damage by talking You can't listen to the content, you should know that's garbage. But looking at these two bicker back and forth on national TV and the looks on Stephen A Smith's face were totally worth the 5 min.

k0na breaks story on Danks 5 years/$65mil ext...Heyman confirms
QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Dec 21, 2011 -> 09:37 PM) Chw42, If he went by FIP Carpenter was 2.78 and Wainwright was 3.11. 2 other NL pitchers had better FIP than Wainwright (Kershaw and Johnson). He stated it was because Carpenter threw 27 less innings. There is just no other statistical explanation (advanced or not). FWIW, 27 innings is worth about a whole win (in terms of WAR) at the FIPs those three guys put up. Vazquez and Wainwright both had higher fWAR than Carpenter that season. Wainwright literally edged Carpenter out by .1 wins, Vazquez was an entire win better.

QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Dec 21, 2011 -> 08:54 PM) Yep. Law only started working for Blue Jays in 2002, and stopped in 2006. Obviously it was all of the success those Blue Jays teams had that caused him to resign. I wonder if he had anything to do with that Wells extension.

QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Dec 21, 2011 -> 08:42 PM) Chw42, No Law really doesnt know baseball. In 2009 he voted the NL Cy Young as follows: My NL Cy Young ballot was 1. Tim Lincecum 2. Javier Vazquez 3. Adam Wainwright Chris Carpenter had an era+ of 182, Javy 143. His argument was that Carpenter pitched 3 less games and therefore that made up for half a run era difference. Hes literally baseball stupid. Law was also voting based off of FIP, which Vazquez bested Carpenter in (barely, I might add). I didn't agree with what he did, but it's not like he did it blindly.

QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Dec 21, 2011 -> 08:33 PM) Law is not considered very knowledgeable in baseball. When he first applied to the Baseball Writers Association of America they rejected him. No, he's just an ass. I think he's one of the better minor league insiders and he knows his sabermetrics, but his tone just makes you want to punch him in the face.

Don't you guys think it's a little bit suspicious that Danks is settling for only like $13 million per when he could get $15 million per next off-season?

QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Dec 21, 2011 -> 09:43 AM) Kinda said the same thing after the first one... kinda said the same stuff all last season. Rip Hamilton was obviously an upgrade, that was never not my opinion. I just wanted the Bulls to aim higher this offseason. However, every game is must-watch, and I fully expect, if healthy, that the Bulls will show even better this year than last. That wasn't directed at you at all dude. I was just saying, people were b****ing after the first pre-season game (not just here, but on other boards as well). Now everything is roses after last night.

QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Dec 21, 2011 -> 08:17 AM) I really love this team. Boozer does indeed seem lighter on his feet, Deng is really stepping up into a legit #2 role, and Rip Hamilton creates something fierce. Please, please stay healthy. What a difference one pre-season game makes huh?

Bulls are looking pretty good on offense today. Rip is already making a difference.

QUOTE (SOXOBAMA @ Dec 20, 2011 -> 01:55 PM) Adam Jones is a much better player than anyone the Sox have.. DeAza to me is a 4th OF. De Aza almost had more fWAR than Jones in about 1/4 of the PAs last season. Adam Jones is nothing special.

2011 Video Game Catch-All Thread
QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Dec 19, 2011 -> 09:52 AM) I couldn't wait until X-Mas (stupidly asked for it thinking the wait wouldn't be too long), so I redbox'd that s*** over the weekend and started dominating dudes online with the Bulls. It took me awhile to figure out how to hop-step. Hold L2 and use d-pad right or left. Once I figured that out, the world was at D-Rose's mercy. The game is fantastic. They somehow made it even better. I imagine December 26th - end of time I will be playing this. Rose on a fastbreak with the hopstep is unstoppable. Rip's also a pretty good shooter from 3. Him and Deng can light it up all day with open looks.

Kim Jong Il Died
QUOTE (Alpha Dog @ Dec 19, 2011 -> 11:37 AM) Maybe the son will just take the cash. bolt for a real paradise and throw the keys to South Korea. Even being raised by that crazy-ass dad of his he has to know what like outside NK is really like. Being only 26, perhaps he just want to 'sow his oates', so to speak. His son studied in Switzerland and was a huge NBA fan. He's westernized as hell. That doesn't mean he won't be a complete ass hole though.

QUOTE (knightni @ Dec 18, 2011 -> 08:26 PM) Getting Volquez away from Dusty Baker and into Petco is a double-bonus, I think. Volquez has talent. He just needs to get his stuff under control. He still struck out nearly 9 per 9 last season. Plus, his HR/FB was abnormally high (20%), so I'm sure he'll be better off at Petco.
