QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Apr 7, 2011 -> 11:44 AM) He's literally gotten a bad jump on every ball that has been hit to him in the of so far, he's really f***in bad out there. On a side note, besides the fact that Q isn't going to throw anyone out from rf, he's actually be solid out there so far. He hasn't had many challenging plays. But for the first time in a couple of years, I don't feel that he's a complete liability out there.
  2. QUOTE (flavum @ Apr 7, 2011 -> 11:14 AM) Rays Lineup: Fuld LF Damon DH Zobrist 2B Johnson 1B Upton CF Joyce RF Rodriguez 3B Shoppach C Brignac SS Price on the hill. That lineup lacks power. The only hint of power in the entire lineup is Johnson, Joyce, and maybe Upton.
  3. QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Apr 7, 2011 -> 10:57 AM) Wow, terrible choice of words, Dunn. Far too early.

De Aza should probably be called up soon after Lillibridge has his annual suckfest at the plate.

Lastings must have pissed Ozzie off. Lillibridge certainly doesn't provide much to the club. Good to see another reliever up.
  6. QUOTE (jphat007 @ Apr 6, 2011 -> 08:45 PM) SoSH kids must be slitting their wrists. From the looks of it, Boston is starting to look like the 2008 Detroit Tigers. All talk on paper, no results on the field (so far). They'll work it out though. That Tigers team was a lot more flawed and less-talented than this Boston one.
  7. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Apr 6, 2011 -> 09:51 PM) Bulls clinch the 1 with a win tomorrow. Even if they don't win, their magic number is 2 right now (or is it 3?). They would just need to go 2-2 (or 3-1) the rest of the way.
  8. QUOTE (Lillian @ Apr 6, 2011 -> 06:25 PM) Have any of you noticed that Carlos is back to extending the thumb on his top hand? He presses that extended thumb right up against the handle. He's the only player whom I can ever remember doing that. I always thought that is was a very dangerous thing to do. If he were to hit an inside pitch on the handle, couldn't he sustain a pretty serious bruise to that thumb? Especially in the Spring, with the cold weather, it would have to really hurt. Then there is the issue of the bat breaking and the portion against which that thumb is pressing breaking in the direction of the extended thumb. Couldn't he hyper-extend it? Is this a legitimate concern? Perhaps. But then again, Q's always getting hurt anyhow.
  9. QUOTE (Y2HH @ Apr 6, 2011 -> 05:37 PM) I agree with this, worst thing to see is a rookie trying to hit for power, become a dead pull hitter and fail at the major league level. A great example of this is Brian Anderson.
  10. Thornton really didn't make any bad pitches in the 9th today. Butler hit a good pitch down and Kila simply reached out and poked a pitch out of the zone for the double. The hitters adjusted to him, he just has to adjust back.
  11. Brent looks like a slap hitter so far, which is totally opposite of what he showed last year. It's fine for me if he hits 9th and plays good D at 3B though.
  12. QUOTE (DonkeyKongerko @ Apr 6, 2011 -> 05:03 PM) Says it all From the looks of it, Quentin had a WPA near .8 with that double. Atta boy Carlos!
  13. QUOTE (WinorDie88 @ Apr 6, 2011 -> 04:59 PM) Just read the news about Dunn. Glad to hear it's nothing really serious. I hope Ozzie smarts up and plays Milledge over Teahen. I hope Milledge doesn't touch the OF too. Although maybe I'm being too quick to judge him. He misread Gordon's double and also looked worse than Carlos out there. For the sake of keeping Carlos healthy and hitting well, it might be smart to DH Quentin.
  14. QUOTE (flavum @ Apr 6, 2011 -> 04:59 PM) Good win and bad game all in one. The Sox don't face the Royals now for the next 81 games. See ya July 4th, pesky bastards. They'll be on their usual pace to lose 95 games by then. You can't outrun the talent you have on the team. You just cant'...especially in a 162 game season.
  15. This is what you call winning ugly. 4 errors and a win in extras? Unheard of unless the other team makes more errors than you. Thank you Mike Aviles for your terrible fielding at 3B! He literally kept that 9th inning rally going.
  16. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Apr 6, 2011 -> 04:54 PM) How are the Rays 0-5 after five home games? What's up with them? Anyone been following that team? No hitting. Longoria's out. Manny's not really Manny anymore. Outside of Manny and Longo, they really have no power threats.
  17. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Apr 6, 2011 -> 04:52 PM) with Greg Walker as the hitting coach With Juan Pierre as the DH. And damn, Quentin showed a lot of emotion after his RBI double. That's rare.
  18. OVA! Hell of a win. We really didn't "deserve" to win this one. But you gotta give the offense a lot of credit for hitting well against Soria.
  19. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Apr 6, 2011 -> 04:50 PM) All with TWO outs, too. Against one of the best relievers in baseball.
  20. That can't feel good... Right in the ass...Stone..."Not much butt to hit" lmao.
  21. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Apr 6, 2011 -> 04:47 PM) SO who is our 5th starter for Friday's game?? Gavin pitched yesterday, Buehrle and Humber pitched today, Jackson tomorrow, Danks friday... saturday we throw gavin on short rest? Humber's starting Saturday I think.
  22. Not Gordon's game today. He's gotten numerous pitches to hit and just popped them up.
  23. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Apr 6, 2011 -> 04:44 PM) Now who closes this game??? I think if we blow TWO leads, it will be more upsetting (almost) than the September 2005 loss when we were up by 7 or 8 and blew it. When I woke up that next morning, I was absolutely stupefied. Really thought we were doomed to lose the division to the Indians at that point. Sale's gonna come out for the bottom half.
