Offseason Part 3 - Because Part 2 Was a Dud
At least it isn't Chernobyl or Fukushima.

I read on LaRussia Today that we're interested in Conforto, so you might be onto something.

Offseason Part 3 - Because Part 2 Was a Dud
I already said I'd delete my account if the Guardians sign a big FA before we do, so yeah...

But had no problems guaranteeing two 31 year olds a combined 130 million for 4 years.

Offseason Part 3 - Because Part 2 Was a Dud
I'll only be mad if he signs a one year deal or a deal that we definitely should have matched (anything under $80 million). I've basically accepted that we won't sign a RFer unless it's some sort of opportunity that's too good to pass up.

Jesus Christ that was ugly af. We're gonna get destroyed by Houston unless something changes. This needs to be a huge wake up call for this Illinois team.

This game is not doing Cockburn's NBA chances any favors. He's going up against smaller players and missing bunnies. Also missing a ton of free throws.

Our offense is non-existent way too often to be considered a good team.

They gave Graveman a quarter of that.

At this point he'd cost the Mets more than the QO since they're deep in the tax.

The longer this drags out the more likely Conforto takes a prove it deal.

Damn this seems like a good deal for LA. Wish we got him instead of Velasquez.

I actually think an opt out after 2 years can benefit the Sox. But in the scenario where he turns into Adam Dunn (not saying that's likely), you're stuck with him for 5 years.

Ouch, looks like he would have made more by staying in Atlanta.- Offseason Part 3 - Because Part 2 Was a Dud
Your argument sucks, which is why I'm barely bothering to have a good faith conversation with you.- Offseason Part 3 - Because Part 2 Was a Dud
Huh?- Offseason Part 3 - Because Part 2 Was a Dud
That just means that he's better vs. righties than he is lefties. So that's a platoon bat, isn't it?- Offseason Part 3 - Because Part 2 Was a Dud
What if I told you that Joey Votto has a lower OPS against lefties than Conforto does over the past 3 years?- Offseason Part 3 - Because Part 2 Was a Dud
You're not paying these guys to hit left handed pitchers. There's 7 other guys in this lineup that absolutely mash lefties. I'm not sure why some people are getting so hung up on this. FWIW, the 2021 NL MVP Bryce Harper hit .257 against lefties last year. Is he also a platoon bat?- Offseason Part 3 - Because Part 2 Was a Dud
We've been trying to get a left handed power bat forever, but now that left handed power bat also has to be great against lefties too? Isn't that the strength of this offense? So the only guys we'd be okay giving money to are Juan Soto-types? The fair market rate for Conforto is around $20 million a year. If the Sox aren't willing to pay that, that's fine. But let's not act like that would be some kind of bad contract and that whoever pays that is absurd. Cause guess what, if Conforto were able to also hit left handed pitching well, he'd cost north of $30 million a year.- Offseason Part 3 - Because Part 2 Was a Dud
I don't disagree. It's why I can see a lot of teams offering him shorter deals to have him prove himself again so he can hit the market and get a bigger deal.- Offseason Part 3 - Because Part 2 Was a Dud
Because players who have a bad season at 29 never bounce back again, ever. I know it might seem weird to give a player coming off a 0.8 WAR season a large contract, but Conforto's track record is far better than the results he posted in 2021.- Offseason Part 3 - Because Part 2 Was a Dud
He's not that bad. He was a 3-4 WAR player every season from 2017-2020 and he's only 29. The 2.5 WAR he's projected for is totally fair, but I think he has bounce back potential to being a 4 WAR player again.- Offseason Part 3 - Because Part 2 Was a Dud
The shoulder thing probably explains why Engel struggled at the plate in the 2nd half of the season. First half Engel was surprisingly good last year. - Offseason Part 3 - Because Part 2 Was a Dud
