  1. I can see why the Cubs tore it all down
  2. I wouldn't trade $50 million for the prospects that the Rockies got.
  3. Just baffling. Should have just kept Arenado.
  4. They finally get rid of one big contract in Arenado...only to give that money to another big contract 2 years later.
  5. And both might get over $100 million if this Bryant deal is any indication of what the market is.
  6. I don't think they wanted to give Bryant and Harper a combined half a billion $.
  7. I don't think they have the money to keep him.
  8. Haha yeah, we're not getting an OFer.
  9. Someone must have told the Reds they can't completely tank.
  10. That's a lot of money to Greinke.
  11. Visiting players who aren't vaccinated can play in NYC. The Sox don't play in Toronto until May 31. Hopefully, COVID is done with by then and Canada retracts their vaccine requirement to enter the country. Even if they don't, I wouldn't worry about losing a guy for 3 games when you're talking about a 4 year contract.
  12. I don't think Burger is a ML ready hitter yet. Yes, he hit the shit out of some fastballs last year. But he looked utterly lost against any kind of breaking ball.
  13. The other NY team has no problem spending, but the Yankees are crying poor. Oh how the turn tables.
  14. He probably wanted to go back to Atlanta. But they were so adamant about that 6th year that Atlanta said fuck it and traded for Olson. Now he might not get that 6th year with another team.
  15. I think the point of signing any extra OFers is so that in case anyone gets hurt again (which we know probably will happen again), we won't be picking guys off the scrap heap to fill in.
  16. The lockout totally made me forget about this.
  17. Don't worry, Rick Hahn has made sure we're not gonna win that title with how we've spent money this off-season.
  18. Conforto's 3 year ZiPS projection 2022: 2.4 WAR 2023: 2.5 WAR 2024: 2 WAR I'm gonna assume 2025 is gonna be sub-2 WAR. So in all, you're getting around 9 WAR the next 4 years. If the asking price really is 4 years and $88 million, I can see why the Sox would be hesitant. But that does not excuse how they've mis-allocated funds so far this off-season.
  19. Sox not willing to go 4 years with Conforto? We're not getting him.
  20. Even the Rays are trying to spend money.
  21. Velasquez was worth $3 million to us. I doubt another team is lining up to give him more than half that.
  22. Vaughn is worth more than Montas. Laureano would help plug the gap.
  23. Every team should have jumped on Miley. $10 million for a guy who can eat innings and pitch decent enough is a bargain in this market.
  24. Reynaldo is already in arb 2. I don't know if they'd be interested in him. Maybe to give some starts to and flip at the deadline, but that doesn't have a ton of value.
