  1. Leury Garcia is probably more deserving to be the 6th guy in that picture than Simmons.
  2. He plays at Coors, of course he's gonna have better counting stats. I think they're similar offensively if you look at the park adjusted stats, but I think Story's issue is that it's hard to project guys that come out of Coors. Arenado's wOBA dropped almost 60 points and his wRC+ dropped 17% after moving out of Coors. If you do the same for Story, he's a league average hitter.
  3. lol I thought this too back during the trade deadline. They do look pretty similar.
  4. If the Sox get Conforto, I really don't care who ends up hitting 9th. I'll be fine if they get a glove-first 2B. Segura provides a much higher floor than Cesar and Leury. We've seen how bad Cesar can be and we've all learned to hate Leury. OAA also loves Segura, even though he hasn't graded out as well with UZR/DRS.
  5. That last quote is definitely something Lavar would say. Maybe in a few years the Bulls will become the Chicago Balls.
  6. Except Segura grades out much better defensively.
  7. I feel like a lot of us are getting blinded by the big names signing with teams that are far inferior to our current roster, myself included. Conforto and Segura would probably make this the most complete lineup in baseball. As much as I'd like a big signing in the rotation, we currently have 5 bodies there and the only real concerns are how many innings Kopech can throw and if Keuchel has a pulse left. A depth signing there makes sense to give us some insurance for Kopech. If the proposed off-season is what the FO pulls off, I'll be content.
  8. I don't have a problem with Segura, what I do have an issue with is them picking up Kimbrel's option just to trade it for an almost equal salary. You could have just bought him out for a million and signed somebody in free agency. Unless they're getting some prospects back in a deal like that, it really doesn't make a ton of sense.
  9. I wonder what this deal means for Story. He's clearly inferior to Baez. Does he get 5 years and $100 million? 6 years and $120 million?
  10. Wasn't his Cubs deal 8 years and $180 million?
  11. They did get Kimbrel done, but only cause they outbid everyone else by a lot.
  12. You can probably argue their bullpen overachieved last year with what they got out of some no name guys, especially towards the end of the season. They really need to get a closer cause Gregory Soto ain't it.
  13. Javy lost a lot of money by not signing that proposed extension with the Cubs. At just over $20 million a year this seems like a fair deal for Detroit. The concern with Javy is how his game will age on offense. He did show better plate discipline with the Mets last year but that was also after the Mets collapsed and his struggles and antics were right in the middle of it.
  14. Bulls trying to blow a 20 point lead again.
  15. Didn't you do this after Machado?
  16. The projection systems have Conforto as a 2.5 win player next year. He's also only 29, so I doubt they'd project a huge fall for him production-wise in the next 4 years. At the very least, I think you're gonna get 10 WAR out of Conforto in a 4 year deal. At $20 million a year, that's about the going market rate. And like you said, there's a chance he bounces back and goes back to producing like a 4 WAR player.
  17. I still think our ceiling is 4 years and $80 million.
  18. That's what the salary floor is for. This is just to get some more money from extra playoff games.
  19. I'm willing to bet that the Sox will not.
  20. The Jays and Mariners both would have made it under this proposal. But the Phillies and Reds would have too at just barely over 81 wins. 7 teams really is awarding mediocrity.
  21. There's also the strong possibility that the tweets are bullshit.
  22. If they're already going to give a team a bye, why not just do 12 teams with 2 of the top teams getting byes?
  23. Solak can also play OF IIRC. Kiner-Falefa can also catch.
  24. Kiner-Falefa looks like Leury without the ability to switch hit. Solak is interesting. He did hit really well in April last year, but I think pitchers adjusted and he got sent down to AAA. He did hit ok after he came back up though. His speed and ability to hit for power makes him way more interesting than someone like Mendick.
  25. I doubt we'll be able to afford a guy like Kris Bryant.
