  1. Lonzo is putting on a show.
  2. I'm afraid Didi might be toast without the old ball and a short porch to homer into.
  3. I honestly think he just got unlucky last year. His exit velo and hard hit % were both really good. So the high BABIP really didn't make a lot of sense. It's also way easier to pitch in Detroit than it is in Boston, like you said. I feel like it's damn near impossible to hit a homer to dead center in Detroit.
  4. The money actually makes sense there. I just don't know if the Phillies would be willing to trade one of their better position players for Kimbrel.
  5. I see a few issue with Marte. 1. He's 33 and he plays a young man's game. How long will his speed hold up given he's going to be in his mid to late 30s by the end of the contract he gets? His sprint speed has been decreasing the last 2 years. From 89th percentile in 2020 to 83rd percentile last year. 2. A large amount of the increase in his value last year on offense came from him walking a lot more, something he's never done before in his career. Is this an outlier or has he actually acquired better plate discipline? 3. He hits a lot of ground balls. 54% of his balls in play were grounders last year. This isn't really a bad thing, but on a team that has issues with hitting too many ground balls, I'm not sure you want to add to that problem. Don't get me wrong, I think Marte is a really good player, I just don't think he's a great fit on this team. A lot of teams also want him to play CF, but he probably profiles as a better corner OFer given his age and decrease in sprint speed as he ages.
  6. Rodriguez was so odd last year. His quality of contact given up and peripherals were both excellent and he still ended up with an ERA near 5.
  7. No McKinnie or Robinson from cards might make it tougher than expected. I don't think they'll lose, but I wouldn't be surprised if they drew without those 2 and Pulisic being on a minutes count. They played great yesterday though and even had to deal with bullshit from the ref. The fact that Robinson got the 2nd yellow on a dive but Mexico didn't get a red for trying to gouge someone's eyes out was ridiculous.
  8. Kemp is interesting in that he's a lot like Madrigal, but his one good tool is his ability to get on base. I think the Sox do need more OBP oriented guys, but Kemp is a very low ceiling player offensively who doesn't play good defense at 2B.
  9. You gotta wonder if his hand is bothering him. He looks like he doesn't want to be out there right now.
  10. Teams just close out on DeRozan right now if he drives. Without Vuc to draw any attention away near the paint, DeMar can't do much. These next few games are gonna be ugly as hell without Vuc's spacing and just his general ability to have the offense run through him. Bradley and Johnson are huge negatives in the half-court offense.
  11. How is using WAR worse than what they already do in arbitration? Currently, the team tries to neg the player and the player tries to sell himself to a panel. With WAR, it's at least less subjective and you don't have to go through that process that's not good for either side. Edit: I see they are saying that the figure that they come up with will be the final salary in arbitration without argument. I was thinking it was more of a guideline to go with and not how they determined arbitration salary before based on years of experience. I don't think the PA will go with the currently proposal at all.
  12. Vaughn was in the bottom 1% in outfield jump and bottom 6% in OAA among all outfielders last year. He was pretty sure handed, but he had absolutely no range. Conforto may not be a good fielder, but he's at least somewhere around average out there.
  13. Vaughn looked fine in LF, but was absolutely awful in RF in the short time he played there.
  14. Yeah, he has to have symptoms since vaccinated players don't get tested regularly.
  15. Yeah it's kind of ridiculous considering other leagues let you play if you test negative two times in a row.
  16. You think he'll get 4 years and $30 million per?
  17. The timing of this really couldn't be worse.
  18. FanGraphs' crowdsource has him getting 4 years at $23 million a year. Do you see the Sox forking over that much money? I certainly don't. It seems like the max we're really willing to go with is about $19 million a year on our players.
  19. Fuck, just when he was starting to turn it around too.
  20. Lonzo looked way more involved this game. Probably his best game yet. West coast trip is gonna be a real test. I'll gladly take .500 for the trip.
  21. Nagy's a clown. Your team just lost cause the refs totally misinterpreted an already dumb rule and you're still defending it? Why the hell is football heading towards 2010 baseball's "play the game the right way" bullshit?
  22. OAA thinks he's above average and he's had good OAA numbers in RF besides 2020.
  23. Mixed bag. But I don't think he's bad or anything.
