  1. Well, Conforto and Story are very similar in that they are both coming off down seasons. And now they're the last 2 big free agents left.
  2. I feel like the Sox don't have a good feel of how to appease the players they want to sign in terms of their relatives. With Machado, we got his relatives and he didn't sign here. With Wheeler, we didn't appease his wife and he didn't sign here. Gotta know which players are truly family first.
  3. Does Conforto have any relatives we can trade for?
  4. General reactions from the fanbases that thought they had a shot at Correa Astros: super pissed Cubs: just kinda pissed and thought they could match Yankees: pissed that the Twins took advantage of them
  5. IDK about you, but I'd like Twins fans to stay discouraged.
  6. Garrett and Baez Kelly and Correa All in the same division
  7. Polanco was really good last year. Sano, if he actually gets into shape, might be good again. That's a big if though.
  8. Houston probably didn't want to give him the opt outs.
  9. If you think about, they kind of just combined Donaldson's bat and Simmons' defense from last year into Correa.
  10. If we go back to that Heyman tweet about the Twins being interested in Conforto, that was definitely an effort by Boras to up the Sox offer cause he knew that the Twins were getting Correa.
  11. The Twins were never gonna get a player of his caliber for the long-term cause they were never gonna be able to give him the 10 year $300 million+ deal he wanted. This is probably the only way they get a player of Correa's caliber. And it carries minimal risk for them cause it's only $100 million guaranteed. Unless something tragic happens to him, he'll probably opt out after the 1st year.
  12. Or injured, which he has a history of.
  13. Getting a 5 WAR player like Correa on what is basically a 1 year deal at $35 million is market rate. Yes, it's expensive, but would you rather have a 27 year old at $35 million a year or would you rather give that 27 year old a 10 year $30 million/year deal and watch him suck it up in the last 5 years of it?
  14. For a team like the Twins, that's what they want.
  15. Honestly, if I was a fan of a team after Correa and saw him get that deal, I'd be furious. If the fucking Twins can afford it, you gotta ask why the Cubs and Astros couldn't.
  16. I think this signals they go all-in. And I sure as hell hope this lights a fire under the FO to improve this team cause we ain't gonna coast to a easy playoff spot.
  17. What's hilarious is that the Twins dumped Donaldson on the Yankees and then got the guy they probably wanted all along with the payroll flexibility. It's the one time the Twins have beaten the Yankees at something.
  18. So is their bullpen. But at this point, who the hell knows? They have 2 superstars up the middle now in Buxton and Correa, provided Buxton actually stays healthy.
  19. FG has the Twins at 79.4 wins before this. Correa is worth 5 wins alone. That puts them at 84ish wins. If they go and get Montas, the Central tightens up quite a bit.
  20. Correa is coming off one of his best years. If he's not getting the bag now, I don't know if he's gonna get the bag in the coming years.
  21. Makes you wonder if Conforto would take a similar type of deal.
  22. Fuck, I honestly think this signing has a team actually threatening us in the division. It's one thing if they got Story, but Correa is on another level.
  23. Question is...why didn't the Astros or any other team do this? This deal makes no sense from Correa's standpoint.
  24. Maybe Scott can give us a break since he's made all those $$$ already this off-season. I just looked up Boras' commission, it's 5% of the contract. His company has made $61 million off these deals alone.
