  1. Story has been worse than Hernandez this year, even if you don't adjust for Coors. I'm glad they didn't get him just because he's a big name player.
  2. He seems like the type of pitcher Cleveland is good at developing. Low 90s fastball, but decent secondary stuff.
  3. The disagreement between OAA and UZR is odd as well. Yoan grades out poorly at OAA but UZR likes him. Hernandez is the same. It's honestly hard to just trust UZR anymore since I don't think it takes positioning into account at all unlike DRS and OAA.
  4. Watch Cleveland turn him into a useful starter.
  5. We have enough guys who get on base. We're 2nd in baseball in OBP. What we need is guys who can give us pop and surprisingly, Hernandez has done that this year. He has as many homers as Abreu.
  6. They dump salary and open up a spot for Gimenez. I'm sure on the surface this looks like them surrendering, but I don't think it is.
  7. He's been a victim of some bad BABIP luck, but his power has kind of made up for it this year.
  8. I'm just glad they did something. Hernandez isn't a big name, but he's still a productive player that at least hits good pitching way better than Garcia. We really couldn't afford to have Leury's bat going into the playoffs at 2B full-time.
  9. Hudson was god awful last year too.
  10. Escobar had a 105 wRC+. Hernandez is at exactly 100. Both switch hitters, both good fielders at 2B. They're very close.
  11. Depends on who we give up. Also, as much as this looks like a white flag trade for the Indians...they'll just call up Gimenez. Hernandez is probably their 3rd best hitter though and he always seemed to come up with some big hits for them.
  12. Well this is interesting...he's like a slightly worse version of Escobar.
  13. I wonder if this affects Hudson's availability as a trade target.
  14. Vaughn and Arozarena have the same wRC+. That's actually kind of crazy.
  15. Glass half empty: This offense sucks and losing a 4 game series to the Royals is embarrassing. Glass half full: The worst we can do is be 8 games up going into a home series against Cleveland.
  16. He had some info on the whole Yermin episode, so he has a source somewhere. But he also said this isn't a scoop, just a hunch. I'm extremely hesitant to think they have real interest in Baez given he's got a foot injury right now. With the Sox apparently very focused on medicals, you'd think that would put him out of consideration.
  17. Is that the main reason they didn't go after Escobar?
  18. He did use the slider. His first pitch to Perez was a slider that he fouled off. I believe Soler's fly out was on a slider too. He just didn't have it tonight. I don't think it's a pitch selection issue like it was earlier in the year.
  19. 7 of those runs were scored in 2 innings. 2 of them were knocked in by Lance Lynn. Eloy's HR last night and Lynn's 2 RBI single are the reasons we haven't lost 7 in a row. The offense needs to start hitting with some consistency. We give away way too many innings by swinging at crap, even in favorable counts.
  20. I had no idea Perez was that good against him until after he hit the homer. Either way, Liam got hit around tonight. It wasn't just Perez. Santana and Benintendi hit him hard too. Benintendi's fly out is probably a homer or double in a lot of other parks.
  21. Burger would be insane there. He already has elite exit velos.
  22. You're getting way too fixated on RBIs and home runs. There are other ways to contribute value to a baseball team. This isn't 1998. I'm not happy with how Yoan has played recently either. His strike out in the 10th was tough to watch, as he probably could have walked if he just went up there without a bat in his hand. If anything his approach recently has been more aggressive and it's actually not working well. He was more productive when he took his walks and didn't swing at balls out of the zone.
  23. I mean we probably drive him in either way. There were no outs in the inning and Zavala and Tim both made good contact right after.
  24. The sad thing is that we probably win this game if Leury didn't drop a routine fly ball in RF.
  25. Yup can't score 2 fucking runs against Kris Bubic and expect to win. Those 2 runs were produced by Vaughn, Leury, and Mendick too. The top of the order needs to wake the fuck up.
