7/29/21 White Sox @ Royals @1:10
It sounds like Carlos may be on a pitch count today. Based on what TLR said about Lopez being the long man out of the bullpen.

First base runner in the first since the Minnesota series.

lmao this guy walks a bunch of guys and Leury swings at the first pitch and pops up in foul territory.

Cesar Hernandez traded to White Sox, Konnor Pilkington to CLE
The lower BABIP might be because he's hitting more fly balls. It's also why he's got a career high in homers.

Sox have checked Rodriguez (Pitt) Fry (BAL)
Rodriguez scares the crap out of me. His spin rates are down quite a bit after the sticky ban and he throws his fastball 87% of the time and has poor velocity for a high leverage reliever. He's a huge regression candidate and it's already starting to show.

Maybe TLR has him on his fantasy team and needs 2B eligibility.

What's interesting is that Engel is playing a day game after a night game. Maybe the restrictions are off on him?

7/29/21 White Sox @ Royals @1:10
They always seem to give him the most outrageous defense. Remember when Vaughn played 3B cause Yoan got hurt during his start against Minnesota?

I guess they can put TA in for defense if they really need it in the late innings. Better hope Carlos just strikes out 27 guys today lol.

They might also give up 10 if they Royals just hit everything to 2B.

lmfao Vaughn at 2B? They're really throwing this game away.

Cesar Hernandez traded to White Sox, Konnor Pilkington to CLE
They seem to understand it on Reddit but are surprised they traded him to us. A lot of them don't think they can really compete this year due to the injuries to Bieber and Civale. Both are at least 3 weeks from a return and they're 8.5 games back..

Is Vaughn turning into a legit ROY candidate?
They all have 112 wRC+...that's actually funny.

Trade Deadline Thread
Wait it wasn't for Frazier and Andujar? Impossible!

Cesar Hernandez traded to White Sox, Konnor Pilkington to CLE
Yeah he's a huge reason they're still a .500 team. He just hit a go ahead homer for them yesterday and always seems to sneak homers in when you least expect it.

At least this probably means Goodwin stops getting starts in CF.

Cesar Hernandez traded to White Sox, Konnor Pilkington to CLE
I think it's because Escobar actually has a track record of being a good home run hitter. Hernandez never hit for much power before this year. He's on pace to hit nearly 30 and his previous career high was like 15. But like I pointed out, he's trying something new this year and it's gotten him 18 homers.

ReyLo/Tepera rumor
This is what happens when you eyeball for a Tepera trade. If it happens nobody gives you credit because it's a trade for a middle reliever. If it doesn't happen you look like an idiot. Come on foodies, you gotta look at the risk/reward here!

Cesar Hernandez traded to White Sox, Konnor Pilkington to CLE
It kind of is considering he hit better after his supposed injury. Unless they were talking about vaccination status, like Ron mentioned.
-
Cesar Hernandez traded to White Sox, Konnor Pilkington to CLE
His home run numbers are because of the change in approach and barrel%. Good thing GRate is a better hitter's park than Cleveland. Statcast has him at 19 expected homers if he played all his games at GRate.

Cesar Hernandez traded to White Sox, Konnor Pilkington to CLE
I'm not mad at the return. I just think Cleveland is good at developing pitchers.

Cesar Hernandez traded to White Sox, Konnor Pilkington to CLE
For those that think Hernandez's HR output isn't sustainable: he's upped his barrel rate by 6% this year over his career norms. That's also 3x higher than his career norms. Is he just running into the ball more? Possibly. But it also just looks like a change in his approach.

Cesar Hernandez traded to White Sox, Konnor Pilkington to CLE
TLR is totally gonna hit him in the 2 spot isn't he?

Cesar Hernandez traded to White Sox, Konnor Pilkington to CLE
This has been Leury's thing his entire career. His OPS vs. bad teams is 150 points higher than his OPS vs. good ones. Leury as a 2B in the playoffs was never going to work.

Cesar Hernandez traded to White Sox, Konnor Pilkington to CLE
You really think Leury and his .474 OPS vs. teams above .500 is the same as having a league average hitter with pop at 2B? BTW, Hernandez's splits vs. good teams looks about the same as his splits vs. bad teams.
